Well appointed kitchen, bathrooms, outdoor living spaces and extras (coolers, beach bags, beach chairs, beach towels) that made the vacation extra relaxing. The home comfortably suited our family of 10 with beds for 4 children and 3 large bedrooms, walk in closets, outdoor rain showers for 3 couples. The home is expertly decorated and furnished with quality seating and conversation areas. A truly beautiful home.

Hula Moon is a wonderful house for a family of 10! The location, close to the ocean with a beautiful large lawn and deck, is perfect! There is exceptional art work all around the house. Everything is quality -- high end kitchen (+ 3 refrigerators!) with plentiful supplies -- sitting areas everywhere and a wrap around upstairs deck. All the rooms have a direct view of the ocean and sunsets.

It was a perfect house for the 8 of us ( three generations). It is a beautiful house, location and setting. The host was fantastic and we have no complaints.

We had a great stay with nine of us! Plenty of room! The home has everything you need to cook with! The beach is great early in the morning to walk out and see sea turtles! (The beach isn’t friendly for swimming or playing in the sand since it’s lava rock, Which the listing does say). There’s a really nice beach five minutes away that’s secluded and beautiful! The sunsets and sunrise are beautiful! This home is made for relaxing! The pool was so fun for the kids! I would recommend this house for anyone that wants a high end home on the beach.
Also, side note no shampoo and conditioner (which the listing says) but I didn’t notice so be sure to stop at the store before arriving!

This is our family’s second stay at this gorgeous home, and this trip was just as magical as the first. The home itself is impeccable, beautifully decorated, comfortable and stocked with everything you could need. The location is one of a kind. We had perfect weather and were lucky enough to see awesome whale activity right from the back patio, all week long. The kids and adults alike spent hours walking along the shoreline and we saw so much beautiful wildlife. The sea turtles abound right outside! Gail and Niki are communicative and organized; amazing hosts of an incredible property. We can’t wait to return!

If I could give this home a 20 star review, I would! From the moment we booked with Gail it was great! She was considerate and helpful with information and emails. We had looked and considered many homes and condos and wow did we make the right choice!! Nikki met us when we arrived and was available anytime we needed information. Everything you might need while staying at this home is pretty much there. The kitchen is stocked with all the equipment you need, there was an abundance of towels and linens, the furniture and bedding was comfortable, I could just go on and on. Pool and sand toys, coolers and sand chairs were there for our use. As for location, it is perfect!! The courtyard pool is wonderful and located at the front of the house, nestled in a beautiful garden oasis. Open expansive back sliding doors onto a huge back lanai with a dining area and an outdoor living room area. There is a very nice back yard for playing games or just enjoying the sunshine and ocean view. Every day we watched whales swimming and splashing and many turtles swimming or sunning on the rocks. Our family had the BEST WEEK EVER in this home and would recommend it to everyone! Thank you Gail and Nikki for everything!!

The hula moon house was everything we hoped it would be. The house is located right on the water and we were greeted daily by large sea turtles swimming in the water or on the beach. The patio was our favorite place to have our meals, play cards or board games while overlooking the yard and beach where the kids hung out. The bedrooms were large and beds comfortable. The property manager was excellent. She greeted us, gave us a tour and answered any questions we had during our stay immediately. This is definitely a place where we would consider staying again

Went to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint.
Incredibly comfortable, spacious, has everything we needed.
Kids really enjoyed the pool, fully stocked with toys.
Great supplies in house - used chairs and cooler for a beach day.
Niki, the concierge checked in daily and Gail the host was lovely.
Zero complaints. I highly recommend booking this and we hope to be back.

This was a wonderful home right on the water. The views are spectacular and the neighborhood is quite and friendly. Great communication with both the property manager and owner. We loved our stay and look forward to returning in the near future. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We have never stayed at a more beautiful home in such a truly spectacular location. Being right on the ocean, watching the sunsets, surrounded by lovely landscaping, the scent of plumeria and jasmine, the sound of the birds and the waves - such a gift! And the house is amazing, beautiful views, huge rooms, great decor and art, comfortable furniture, gorgeous rugs, huge lanai, the coolest showers ever! And everything you could possibly need for barbecuing or cooking or trips to the beach. Gail was so helpful and accommodating and Niki was there for us whenever we had a need or question. 10 stars! Thank you!

This was our second stay at this lovely home and we can't wait for our third. The location in Puako is just what we like - remote but close enough. The general store on the road has everything you might need, the Hapuna beach is only a mile or two down the road and one of the best on the island, the fresh doughnut maker is just off the highway, it is 30 minutes to Kona and 30 minutes to Hawi so you get the best of both varieties of Hawaii. The house is impossibly lovely - I'm not sure I could allow others in it if it were mine. It is exactly as described, could not be more spacious or elegant or well equipped. The support from Nik is incredible should you have any little issue to deal with. I can't recommend enough and our family can't wait to go back.

I’d say Hula Moon is as beautiful as shown on VRBO, but is far more beautiful than displayed. Our adult children and partners were blown away on seeing it for the first time. Everything you need for an incredible week is provided by Gail, the owner. Nikki our manager, was extremely helpful, providing us with information on food shopping, aquatic equipment rental, restaurants, farmers’ markets, and beaches before we arrived via text and phone and during our visit. She was a joy to work with! All in all our experience was first rate and the first of what we hope will be more to come.

It’s hard to put into words how incredible our experience was here, but I’ll try…The home is immaculate and makes you relax as soon as you enter the front doors. The views never got old and were enjoyable all day long - especially the mornings and beautiful evenings! We traveled with a 3.5 YO and the house was very child friendly, so would absolutely recommend for any families looking for a big house with tons of home-front activists (pool, beach, tide pools, lawn activities). Thanks again to our hosts and their home for making this vacation one to remember.

We came here to remember my father who passed away. It was a great place for the whole family to stay busy, from the beautiful views and comfortable pool! The concierge was very friendly and helpful with where to go and see with the ages and limitations we had. My mom loved watching the sea turtles and even saw a stingray from the private beach. I definitely would come here again and again! Thanks for the amazing memories and hospitality!

What an incredible property! We sadly had to leave this beautiful home and return home. Our entire family had so much fun during our stay there. From the ocean views, the beach access, turtles, snorkeling, back porch dinners, swimming, and the list could go on….we all (ages 8 to 65) had an absolute blast!
We will surely miss it and we are already planning our return. It’s left an indelible mark on us and we will not soon forget our fantastic time there.
We love how detailed Gail and Niki were from the very beginning. They made our stay so welcoming and as a family that owns and runs a business we can be very picky about things! Rest assured you will not make a mistake by booking your stay at The Home of the Hula Moon!
This place will always have a special place in our hearts and it has easily surpassed all of our families dreams for a get-away. We CAN’T wait to return. See you again soon!

Turtle viewing daily. Eels & fish were shy. Whales spotted in the distance (2/7/23 - 2/14/23). Property was exactly as pictured. Perfect stay for 2 couples & 2 single adults. It got a bit humid the last night of our stay; if it had been hotter it would have been quite uncomfortable without air conditioning. It was comfortable & breezy the other days. Rare find with all 4 bedrooms having full ocean views!

Our group of 4 couples, average age 70+ spent the end of Jan 2023 at The Home of the Hula Moon. This house was perfect for 8 adults with space to be together and space for quiet time away from the group. Home of the Hula Moon has a quiet elegance about it but at the same time it was comfortable without being stuffy or formal.
I have rented several houses on Puako Beach Dr. which has become my favorite all time vacation spot. The location is quiet and secluded. If you wish for lots of people and music crowded around a resort pool, this place IS NOT FOR YOU!
There were too many whale sightings to count and the sea turtles were a daily delight! Exploring the tide pools was an hours long daily adventure.
The owner and concierge were helpful and made the booking process stress free. The VRBO listing was 100% accurate.
All 8 of us highly recommend this property.

Home of the Hula Moon is one of the most incredible properties that I have ever stayed in. The home itself is impeccable with large open rooms and beautiful decor. Our favorite pastime was relaxing on the lanai and watching for whales. We are already planning another trip to visit next year. Thank you Gail and Nikki for your wonderful hospitality!

Home of the Hula Moon is a fabulous property right on the beach with every amenity you can think of. It is set up as a 4 suite house with marvelous views of the ocean from nearly every window. Our group of four couples were able to each have the privacy of their own space including separate reading and relaxation areas while having the convenience of a large common area and great kitchen.
Most of our time was spent outdoors on the lanai’s or beachfront lawn watching turtles lounge, dolphins playing, and whales breaching! This is truly a fabulous home, and I would recommend it to anyone. Niki did a great job, taking care of us and making sure that we had everything we needed. Thank you to Niki and Gail!

We were two grandparents, two daughters and son in law, 3 grandchildren. Phenomenal property with a little beach, giant lawn, lovely lanai. Bedrooms large and spacious. Rugs are gorgeous (almost scary gorgeous for little kids!) and the property manager, Niki, communicated with us all the time our needs, their concerns. We can't wait to come back and stay here again! Oh, and lots of beach chairs and beach toys for kiddos. :-)

If possible, I would have given this location 10 stars. Dealing with Gail and Nikki was a pleasure. Nikki was extremely responsive to any questions that we had. The small beach out front was great for exploring and watching the sea turtles. There was no better way to start your day than with a cup of coffee and watching the waves. Every room had fantastic views of the ocean. There were two beaches( Beach 69 and Hapuna Beach) within 5 minutes of the house. Great snorkeling at Beach 69 and boogie boarding at Hapuna Bech. After a day at the beach, the grandkids enjoyed coming back and spending some time in the pool. There is so much to do on the Big Island from waterfall adventures outside Hilo to the Hawaii Volcano National Park.
One of the best time of the day was enjoying the sunsets, which were fantastic. Spending my birthday celebration at the Home of the Hula Moon made this one of the best vacations ever.

Celebrating a 60th Birthday
The house was perfect! We were 3 generations. Us our 2 sons and their wives and 3 grandkids. Could not have been a better place to spend 10 days! Everything you could imagine the Hula Moon has. Beautiful bedrooms, amazing kitchen and the outdoor setting is incredible. I was a little worried about no AC but with the breeze off the ocean not once I wished there was AC. Gail and Jen were so good and easy to work with. We come as a family every 3 years and we will definitely stay here again. This is our 4th stay in Puako and the Hula Moon was the best yet. Can’t thank Gail enough for sharing her wonderful home.

Perfect in Puako!
What a special stay for our first trip to Hawaii. Located in a quiet and lovely neighborhood in Puako- a short drive from the Kona airport. The house is RIGHT on the water as shown in the pictures and provide such a wonderful and serene backdrop during your stay (and beautiful breezes through the home). Low tides bring many turtles right outside the home and children will absolutely love exploring the tide pools. We even saw a large puffer fish one morning right in a small tide pool! It is a bit of a rocky entry to the water outside the home with many sea urchins, so the pool is a lovely welcome spot when you want to take a quick dip and the children loved playing in it for hours. There are a couple of absolutely lovely sand beaches within a few minutes drive from the house as well. The kitchen was well stocked and communications with the property manager, Niki went very smoothly. Overall, a perfect spot for your Hawai'i stay!

Beautiful luxurious home with incredible decor, art, and furnishings. Very peaceful and private. It is conveniently located. Ocean views were relaxing and the wild bird life was entertaining. Niki was very professional and helpful. . The house was definitely well equipped. The most comfortable beds! We would definitely book the house again.

If you are on the fence don’t hesitate—worth every penny and then some! We stayed as a party of 7–myself, my husband, my kids (9 and 11) and parents (70s). We are both attorneys so it’s rare that we get the chance to rest and relax. The home was perfect for our needs and gave us exactly the break we needed. Every room had an ocean view and was perfectly appointed. It was pristine. The back yard was spacious…our kids loved playing in the yard. The beach only has a few swimmable spots but the snorkeling is phenomenal! We saw families of sea turtles each day, eels, tropical fish. Incredible! The pool was the perfect temperature and it was a nice break from the ocean. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. We ordered groceries delivered and cooked in many nights. The Fairmont and Mauna Lani were walking distance to the home so we walked over several days and nights for dinner and drinks. Nearby beaches were great. There are a few hiking trails near the house. Be sure to check out the petroglyph trail! Honestly, I don’t think we could have had a better vacation and we attribute much of that to this beautiful home. We will be back for sure!!
