First time we have rented a place for a week in October and this turned out to be the perfect place for a little bit of everything. Had 3 daughters and two spouses and 2 grandkids for weekend for birthday celebration then rest of week just three adults and small labradoodle. We worked some (some did more than others) worked puzzles, sat on deck watching the water and amazing sunsets, walked on beach, and really took advantage of location and comfort. All but one bedroom have views of beach when you wake up! So nicely decorated with relaxing beach, water, and NC pictures. Fun books to browse through. Quiet private beach with no annoying street lights. Just comfortable in every way with space, all we needed in kitchen, comfortable beds, etc. It is a very special place - very homey. You know, these days some people are fussing about the VRBO owners who ask the renters to do too much cleanup. Our instructions were not to even strip the beds but just to relax have our coffee and enjoy our last morning at beach. These are posted instructions and not just to us. Monica knew there was a big birthday celebration and left a card and bottle of champagne. Indeed we have wonderful memories of the place. And we so appreciate Monica and her sharing her special family place with our family.

We had a great time at Monica’s property! We had two families, including a baby and it worked out really well. The ocean views and location on the beach are truly unbeatable. We had the beach to ourselves even during the last week of August. This is definitely a beach home…. it was very clean and functional (everything worked great) but a bit old with some wear and tear. That worked great for us because we felt quite comfortable but it’s not fancy. We were there for the beach and spent most of our time outside and on the balcony. Loved the outdoor shower!

Very disappointed with the cleanliness of this house .. host blamed the cleaning crew but the bathroom were nasty mold on the shower curtain and grout had mold not the cleaning crew fault! Carpets were nasty! The pictures were false advertising for this house will never stay or recommend anyone to stay!! Vrbo should inspect homes before allowing guest to stay!! I paid 6800.00 for the week I should be compensated for the filth!!!!

Easy access to the beach, charming layout inside. great dorm for the kids perfect great room. Great amenities, fantastic outdoor shower and Monica was the perfect owner who answered all our question. We would love to return next summer.

This was our 3rd year in a row staying at Heckman house. The house is lovely, the beach is quiet, and everything is always ready for our arrival. Monica is a very responsive owner and wants her guests to have a great experience.

It’s was an amazing place! Our family is spread out across the nation and because of the pandemic we have all not been together in several years! We had plenty of space for all of us. It was easy to access restaurants and grocery stores and it was wonderful to be on the beach!

Beautiful Property
Talk about a stunning location - just far enough away from Atlantic Beach to escape the crowds in a lovely quiet neighborhood. Direct beach access was awesome, as was waking up to see dolphins close to shore! House was great with more than enough space

Beautiful and perfect for our family
This property had a beautiful oceanfront view. Nice deck and screen porch overlooking g the water. It is spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. Monica was accessible and quick to respond. The property is older and well maintained and super comfortable. Highly recommend.

Fabulous beach house!!!
Fabulous house for a beach holiday! Lots of comfortable bedrooms, common space with seating for all, well stocked kitchen. Gorgeous view and a deck full of chairs for enjoying it!

Nice stay
Property is exactly as described. A no frills, older home. Beautiful location. Very short walk to the beach. My youngest was excited to find a bike in the garage. The outdoor shower was so popular that it was preferred over the indoor showers.

Included all the necessities ..... such as towels, grills, boogey boards, beach chairs etc.
Monica is an awesome host who is off the charts! She was extremely responsive and detailed. Any questions were answered expeditiously with deep thought.

The home and beach are gorgeous!! We enjoyed the beautiful views from every room!!! We hated to leave and cannot wait to return. The property owner was a joy and so gracious to us!!! Made us feel like family!!! Will definitely be back!!

Perfection
This is the house at the beach I would own if I could own a house at the beach.
It has EVERYTHING. Clothespins, cleaning supplies, towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, sheets, extra blankets, dog towels, kitchen supplies - peelers, knives, wine openers, cocktail glassware, measuring cups. You name it, they’ve probably got it.
The beds are comfortable, the house is well laid out with the downstairs area being able to be closed off (so kids can be kids without driving the adults nuts!). You get a view of the beach from every room on the main level. I practically lived on deck the week we were there. There’s also a great screened area for the dogs or for eating.
Charmingly, there are birds nesting in the chimney. The chimney is completely sealed off so you needn’t worry they’ll pay you a visit inside but to hear them chirping is lovely.
The outdoor shower is THE BOMB plus there’s a hose on the walkway to the beach for folks who just need to rinse their feet.
The decor is relaxed, comfortable and just nice enough to feel like you’re on vacation without being too formal. For me, houses that are too fancy and formal are kind of a waste at the beach.
Monica is very responsive to all communication as well. We will definitely be back!

I can't say enough good things about Monica and her beautiful property. The house has incredible uninterrupted views of the ocean and is situated on a more blissfully quiet stretch of beach. The house was very clean, with a well stocked and organized kitchen (all the appliances, tools, pots/pans and spices you could ever ask for). The garage had an extra fridge, and tons of boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas and everything you need to have a fun day at the beach. We were so thankful to be able to bring along our puppies, and there were even towels for them! While some have mentioned that the house is older, we found that everything was in good working order and we enjoyed the use of the brand new laundry room and downstairs bathroom. We cannot wait to come back to stay. What a fantastic place. Thanks so much.

Great house, great location
We booked this house for a family wedding. For us, it was perfect. The ocean view is ridiculous. No need to ever turn on a tv. The downstairs area is great for segregating kids when adults want some private time. Basketball ball goal was a nice touch. The kitchen is small but functional and the screen porch was our favorite dining spot. Though pet friendly, I personally would not have known otherwise. The carpet, furniture is older but owners have a good cleaning crew and could probably not allow pets if everything was brand new. If treated properly it will be a great pet friendly family home for many years. Reach out to Monica if you have questions as she is gracious and prompt.

Best beach house ever!
This house is everything a beach house should be. The views are breathtaking, the house is very clean and comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked, there is an extra fridge in the garage, a screened deck, a deck with partial shade, plenty of comfy deck chairs, plenty of parking and a magical walkway from the house to the beach through a tunnel of scented shrubs. The house is only steps away from the beach giving incredible ocean views from most of the rooms. The master bathroom even features a picture window. The beds are comfortable with soft sheets and we had access to plenty of towels, wash clothes and hand towels. We brought our own beach towels. I did notice there were towels available to use for your dog. I would highly recommend this house. It feels more like you are visiting friends than staying in a rental. It is very cozy and homey.

The Pine Knoll Shores home is a peaceful oasis with amazing beachfront space and incredible views
What a gem of a location. We wanted a home large enough to accommodate our family of 5 with littles and both sets of grandparents, and this location delivered. We also wanted a location that felt like home with some character and not a prefabricated commercial feeling property. The physical location of the home is ideal as you are steps away from the beach with amazing sprawling beachfront and a sense of privacy. We watched dolphins from the porch, had daily shell finding adventures walking the beach, and soaked in the sunrise and sunset views. The home itself provided ample space for our group to be together while still having separate quarters when we needed to retreat. We also really appreciated how well stocked the home was allowing us to do laundry, cook, take advantage of the pack n play, and play some of the games on the bookshelf. The home is conveniently located to visit an array of nearby excursions, our favorite being a tour to Cape Lookout. Monica was very responsive with her communication and accommodating to our group. She genuinely cared that we had an excellent stay. We had a truly wonderful getaway and hope to return again someday.

Great views
Views and location were unbeatable - sunrise, sunset, and dolphin watching in between. The property itself is a bit dated and could use a refresh of things like silverware, knives etc - but not enough to detract from a very pleasant stay. The owner was also very responsive.

Wonderful and Relaxing Beach Trip
What a great way to ring in 2021! Very comfortable home for our entire family, including our dogs, with an amazing view. Loved being right on the beach in a quiet tree-lined neighborhood. Really appreciated how well stocked the kitchen was with spices/utensils. etc. We had a truly splendid time. Thank you!

Great family oriented home
Great location! Stocked kitchen (pots, pans, utensils spices kichen towels ect..) Love the house's layout. We would definitely book this house again. Always a plus to be able to bring our 4 legged family members as well. Thank you for a wonderful Christmas space for our family.

Lovely dog-friendly home at the beach
We had such a wonderful stay at the Heckman House. This place feels more like a home and less like a beach house. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare a meal, and the view from the living room is the best. We really enjoyed having the lower level suite where our friend stayed for maximum privacy. We will definitely return!
