Location, cleanliness of house and grounds. General condition of the house was OUTSTANDING! Our stay in the Florida Keys was enhanced greatly due to our choice to stay in Captain's Haven!

Although I liked the home and would have given the home a 5 star rating. The communication with the property manager was frustrating which is why it only got a 3 star rating. I would avoid properties managed by Vacasa.
The problems started about 2 weeks out when I received an email from Vacasa (not through VRBO) that my reservations was not complete leaving me with the impression that we did not have the reservation even though we had already made plans. I went to their link only to find out that it wanted the make, model and license plate for the vehicle that we would be using. This was impossible since this was going to be a rental and the information would not be available until the day of arrival. I sent 2 emails to them explaining this only to get a computer generated email back completely ignoring the rental car question. I finally called the number to talk to a person and they too were not completely sure. After the confered with another they told me that I would need to download the Vacasa app in order to update the info when we arrived. Even though I did this I continued to get emails from them with the same reservation concerns. this did not make me comfortable that there was not going to be a problem at check in. Then after arriving we drove from Ft. Lauderdale to Marathon and arrived 50 minutes early before 4PM check in. I used the app to see if we could go in early to drop off our bags before heading to the store for groceries. They said

We took the family to Captain’s Haven to celebrate our son’s high school graduation. Everything was amazing! Everything we needed for cooking seafood. Lots of pretty bowls and platters for a fun serving atmosphere. Very roomy!!! Very clean!! Not really a complaint, but water pressure in kitchen was a little low and finding the hot water was a little tricky with the kitchen faucet. Glass cleaner would have been nice so we could have cleaned the kitchen table. View was amazing and loved having dock so we could have our boat right out front. We loved it! Thanks for a great stay!!

Property climate control is finicky and inaccurate, sometimes uncomfortable. House wasn’t as clean as we expected, and was lacking basics like salt and pepper. Location was great, but the inclusion of Cabana Club access is oversold as the pool isn’t kid friendly and the kitchen closes at 5:30pm.
While the house met our needs, we would expect a little more.

We throughly enjoyed our stay. There were plenty of pans, paper towel, dish towels, dishes, silverware and cutting boards. Manatees swim up and down the canal. The neighbors Albert and Bill are super nice and will help you with anything you need. Albert is a commercial fisherman and offers charters. The beds are super comfortable and clean. Air and heat work great. Plenty of parking for 1-3 cars. I would stay here again!

We had a wonderful stay. There was 7 of us and we all fit very comfortably. Every room was clean, plenty of bath, pool/beach towels. Enough toilet paper, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, dish soap to last the entire week we were here. I text about one little issue and the repair man arrived the next day. Any questions I had they were answered quickly. I would definitely stay here again.

Key Colony
Our stay was awesome, the house was beautiful and clean. We could not have asked for anything more(a boat to use would have been great). Must say this is the first home I have rented that I did not have any cleaning supplies, trash bags for the trash can, not even salt or pepper. Most homes I have rented always have a few leftoverbfrom the previous renters. I left our items for the next group ( unless tthe cleaning crew takes them all). A few basics would have been nice. The house itself is awesome, perfect place to see the best sunsets just a short walk away. I will reccomend to all! Thank you for a lovely anniversary week.

Love this place!
My family and I have stayed here at the Captain’s Haven before so we’re return visitors. We love this place, but we did notice that cleaning staff must have changed. The house wasn’t nearly as clean as it was the last time we stayed in 2019. For example, hair was left on the bathroom floors, a mess of hair (like it was pulled from a hairbrush) was left in the toilet, the towels were left in the dryer, and the overall cleanliness of the house was less than expected (dirty doors around the door knobs, dusty decor, etc.). Aside from those things, the house, property, and dock are great! We’ll be returning again, but I hope the house is a cleaner next time. Thanks!!

Wonderful home in Key Colony. Home was on a canal and convenient for your boat. 30 amp shore power is available. Vacasa kept you updated. The router password was incorrect on their house info email. The password ended up being in all lower case and not as Vacasa provided. Vacasa never responded to my email regarding this issue.

Wonderful as we remembered
Easily the best rental in key colony beach. Great waterfront access. The cabana club is terrific for a dip in the pool or as a beach spot. Plenty of room for all of us. We will be back

Short on amenities
This property was very nice. Everything works as it should. Plenty of room for parking and their is a good size shed under the house for your toys. Neighbors are nice and run a fishing charter. Our only issue was that for 3 bathrooms and a house that hold up to 10 people, they only supplied 3 rolls of toilet paper. One in each bathroom. The trash runs twice a week and they only supplied two trash bags. A few Glasses from the cabinet had to be rewashed because they were sticking to the shelf. There were plenty of towels and the house was very clean. Never had communication with the management.

Great place for a fishing weekend
Average furnishings but was very spacious, in a great location, with everything you need, and very clean!! Beautiful spot on the canal next to Vaca Cut.

Outstanding property
Exactly what we were looking for. Canal front Great 3/3 unit, neighbors were great. Parked boat out front, so we just woke up, got some coffee, jumped on boat and were fishing soon there after! Comfortably slept 7 adults.
Did not have information on access/directions to cabana club or pool, but we never really needed it.

Wonderful in every way
Perfect home for our large family. 6 adults and 2 small kids. Everyone had their own space. The house was fully equipped and the neighbors are the best anyone could ever hope for. They gave us some prime fishing spots. We loved having the boat right there and being able to go from the included cabana club pool to heading out on the boat for sunset. The location of key beach colony is wonderful. We did all of the tourist stuff that was so close by the house. You can not go wrong with this place. We loved every minute.

We have stayed at this house 4 times now and will not stay anywhere else! It is very clean and has all of the comforts of home! We love the easy access to the gulf or Atlantic for fishing and to the reef for diving and snorkeling! If you are considering this home, book it!!!! You will not be disappointed!
