Everything about this property exceeded our expectations. The home was well taken care of and had all of the modern conveniences that you would want. Everything was clean and well-kept. The view from each porch was perfect, especially in the morning. The location on the island was convenient to restaurants and shopping. I have been coming to topsail Island for 40 years and I have to say that this location was prime. The owners were very friendly and prompt with communication. Even though this property is dog friendly, you would never know because of the cleanliness. Loved our stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Golden Dog Inn! We take an annual vacation with our mothers (mom and mother-in-law) and our pups. This one was the best! Rooms are spacious. View was amazing. Location couldn’t be better!

Great location and very easy check in/out process

The photos don’t do justice to the house. Our two small dogs enjoyed the back yard and deck. The private beach entrance gate is directly across the street—if you forget beverages or dogs, it is maybe six minutes round trip from your beach umbrella to the house and back. The two oceanside decks offer beautiful views. The upper deck (on the third floor) has especially great views. Some comfortable deck furniture up there would really be nice. The captain’s chairs on the lower deck were great fun. Good kitchen. Very private. We had a good time. The dogs had a good time. A beautiful week.

The property condition and location are outstanding. Huge bedrooms and great views of the ocean and the sound. can't wait to return.

We had a wonderful stay! The house was spacious and very clean. We loved the view from the deck! It was very quiet and peaceful. It’s a short walk to beach and it always felt as if we were the only ones there. Our Corgi’s loved the fenced in back yard. It was nice just to let them out there without a leash. The check in and out process was very easy. John is a great host and communicates well! We plan on coming back!

We loved our first stay on Topsail Island. The house was clean and conveniently located. Gorgeous views of the ocean from two covered decks. The beach is particularly wide compared to OBX with not many people on it Our pup loved the fenced in backyard. The only drawback was the road noise, especially on the weekend. The kids and I didn't much mind it. Our pup did. All in all, a wonderful vacation.

Can’t beat the location and proximity to the beach. Love that the unit has its own private dune crossing located directly in front of the unit. The pictures on the listing don’t do the place justice it is much more spacious and light filled than shown - we were pleasantly surprised! Will be back again!

Our week spent at the Golden Dog Inn was great. The location is convenient and the property was perfect for our family. We'll definitely consider returning next year.

We really enjoyed our stay. The location is ideal, directly across from the beach and close to town. Joe is a wonderful host and very responsive to any questions or requests. We rented a tent and chairs from Sweet Dreams which were delivered right on time. Couldn't have been a more enjoyable week!

This is the perfect beach rental for a small family that's wants a dog friendly vacation! The home is beautifully decorated and very clean. I say home, because that's exactly how we felt renting from John. He was very friendly, prompt with communication and has added all the right touches to this property to make you feel at home. We had an incredible time at the Golden Dog Inn! The house is very clean and the views everything. The sunny deck off of the living room that provided shade and shelter from the wind when we needed it was our favorite spot. John was an excellent host and we were so grateful for the perfect, dog-friendly escape. Thank you again, John!

We had a wonderful vacation! The house was so clean (and so spacious!), and both fur-baby and human-baby friendly (no breakable decor to worry about!). The kitchen included enough cookware for our needs. The garage made packing/unpacking so nice, and the fenced yard was great for our dog. FYI don’t bother bringing the beach cart/wagon- the beach is so close and there are a fair amount of steps on the private board walk down to the beach. John was a great host, as well. This was our first Topsail experience and we loved everything about it, except leaving!

The location was perfect for having plenty of private space on the beach. Closest group of people were 200 feet away. Had a great view of the beach from the house. Very quiet area and the house was the right size for my wife and I, our two teenage kids and two dogs. Gave everyone a chance to either ang out or get away and have alone time. Was really nice to have a fenced in yard for the dogs and the communication with the owner was quick and accommodating. Will definitely come back. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

We brought our dog and three kids and had a great time! House was incredibly clean and very spacious. Great access to the beach, which was very private, not a hotel in sight! This accommodation was not only very pet friendly, which is rare to find, but also did not show any signs of pet abuse or damage, which shows how great the owners are in keeping up with the place. The owners were available when we had questions, didn’t have to go through third parties. Can’t wait to stay again!

This house and location were even better than we expected. Home is bigger and more updated than the photos show. Not a typical beach rental in that it had a beach-y vibe without the over the top tackiness and REAL, purposeful furnishings instead of mismatched/tag sale furnishings you often find. Topsail Island itself has won us over for Favorite NC beach so far. John was very good with communicating and of course- our dog felt at home and loved having a yard to run around in!

Our stay was great. I loved the location because it was on a part of the beach with a lot of privacy. It was very clean and homey. It was perfect for our dog to go outside and not be on a leash with the fenced in back yard. I will definitely book it again when we come back to Topsail Island.

If you enjoy a view of the water; or if you have a dog; or if you want easy access to an uncrowded beach; or if you like staying in a spacious, modern, comfortable house, you should check this place out. The owner responds quickly and courteously to any questions. Room for improvement: the ice maker in the freezer is pretty slow--BIG PROBLEM if you want frozen margaritas your first night! My solution would be to leave it running for the guests on the day of arrival. Then they've got a perfect vakay.

We had a really nice time with our three kids aged 2, 11, 14 and our dog. The house is either new or newly renovated and in great shape. The beach is essentially private with plenty of space and the back yard for the dog is great. We have no complaints and would gladly stay there again.

My wife and I had a last minute change in vacation plans to Michigan (due to covid) and after a quick search we selected the Golden Dog Inn. We were not disappointed. Great location to the area, this was our first visit to Topsail. Private beach access right in front. You basically have a stretch of beach all to yourself. Incredible beach views and the most spectacular sunset I have ever seen. From 308B you get both sunrise and sunset (from both decks). The fishing on the beach right there was great. Flounder, Black Drum, Blues, Whiting and Pompano. The rental was spotless and spacious. We didn't bring our dogs but for dog owners it would be perfect. My daughter and her Marine husband joined us for a day and John was thoughtful and said no problem to bring the dogs in for a day. The puppies enjoyed a large backyard and garage for shelter from the sun. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this property. Linda and I have been doing beach rentals for decades and this is a good one. I would do this rental again.

Loved the private beach access. House is comfortable and fenced in back yard is a plus. The one minor thing is that the pots and pans were pretty beat up and there is no water filter/pitcher. Good thing we brought our own.

First time at Topsail Island. Was nice to be able to bring our dogs. Property was clean, bed comfortable. Owner John quick to answer questions. Was fantastic to have fenced in yard to be able to let dogs out—front sidewalk very close to road. Nice view of ocean- hardly anyone on the beach-hope to return to Topsail’

Being able to bring our dog on vacation was an experience we'll treasure. The house was comfortable and clean. Great location, easy to socially distance on the beach which was never crowded.

Really appreciated the location of this property! Short walk to the beach and the ocean. The house was clean and everything worked well. The Dogs also enjoyed their stay!

We lived in North Carolina for 4 years but had never been to Topsail. We were pleasantly surprised. The beach was private and the ocean was beautiful. We found out the house is very solid as we were there as Isaias reared it's ugly head. We had minor water in the house but came through unscathed. The power was out for 13 hours but that was acceptible. We had a great week with our youngest son and his family (including their yellow lab). Thanks!

The view and access to the beach were perfect for our stay. We had everything we needed. Location was quiet and there were no high houses in beachfront to block the ocean view. We spent a lot of time just relaxing on the deck with the dogs. We appreciate owners that allow one to bring their pets. We will be back!
