The house was nice and clean upon arrival. It was in a great location to be able to visit different activities and try new things.

This has been the best vacation rental we have stayed in. Very clean, more than well stocked and maintained. Our host Bev was delightful and the location was just right, easy to go in any direction to see the sites. This was away from the hustle and got cool in evening for sleeping. We would highly recommended this unit for a stay in Hilo.

Place has everything you need. Everything was clean. The location is in a quiet residential area but still close to downtown Hilo. We would definitely stay there again.

Bev's rental was lovely. It was perfectly clean, spacious and was fully set up with everything we needed. Although we only communicated with Bev via text and email, she was a gracious and very responsive host. She quickly answered any questions we had and made recommendations. We will stay here again when we visit Hilo.

The cottage was amazingly clean, nicely furnished, lots of clean towels, clean dishes, lanai with nice views. In a quiet, cool neighborhood, just a few minutes to downtown Hilo, grocery shopping and restaurants. Very clear communication with the host via text.

So I don't usually leave reviews, but I had to tell everybody about how wonderfully bev and her property manager Kim took care of us in a time that could have turned out much worse. First of all, my very first day i ended up locking myself outside on accident and couldn't remember the lock combination and my phone was inside the house with the combination written down. Luckily my partner had their phone and we were able to call vrbo who got us in touch with Kim right away, and we were able to get back in within minutes! Later that day we both got what we think was food poisoning, but we didn't figure out until the next morning that all of our food was going bad because the refrigerator wasn't actually working! I again contacted Kim, and a few minutes later got a call from the property owner Bev, who herself was out of town on a trip but took the time to call me several times throughout pur stay. She immediately dispatched a crew from Sears to come and look at the refrigerator, which unfortunately was not reparable during out stay as they had to order a new part for it. Bev made sure that we got a couple of ice chests from her place that we used throughout the week as a makeshift refrigerator, she paid for all of our ice expenditures, and also paid for our loss of groceries from the first couple of nights of good going bad. Then to top it all off she called in a gift certificate to a really nice restaurant in Hilo called Cafe Pesto just out of her own goodness!

The house was in a convenient and cool location. The unit was well-kept and well-furnished for our needs. It was roomy for the two of us. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay. Bev was a wonderful host. We would definitely stay there again.

Loved the location of this property and would recommend to others seeking a central location on the big island. Porch (Lanai) has chairs overlooking Hilo. Short drive from rainbow falls and downtown Hilo. The property manager Beverly lives next door and is super friendly/ helpful should you need anything. Full kitchen, bed, and pull out couch bed all exist in the house.

We’ve stayed at Bev’s several times over the years. It’s the first place we try and book when visiting the Hilo area. The lodge is private with all the essentials needed for a visit. The washer/dryer is super handy to have. The view from the covered lanai is gorgeous. Sunrises over the ocean are fantastic. The lodge has easy parking and is a short distance from downtown. We always feel like we live in Hilo instead of just visiting because of the homeyness of the lodge. Bev lives in a completely separate residence next door. She’s available if you need anything, but, otherwise, you have complete privacy. The lodging was immaculate when we arrived. We hope to book the lodge again when next we visit Hilo!

Lopaka's Family Lodge is located in a quiet, convenient Hilo neighborhood, with a delightful view of the port from its lanai. It is so comfortable and well-equipped that I wish every vacation rental we stay in could equal it. The kitchen, which we used fully, comes with a complete knife block, 4-slot toaster, full range, microwave, electric grill pan, and almost anything else one could possibly imagine using. The spacious bedroom has the pleasant surprise of a roomy walk-in closet with bench. The bathroom includes a stock of sunscreen, medical lotions, and a sewing kit. The thoughtfulness of the host is evident everywhere. This is a great base from which to enjoy Hilo.

Beverly is an awesome host. The house was immaculate and location was perfect. Nice quiet street which is exactly how we like it. The kitchen was very well equipped. You could tell a lot of thought was put into this rental. The bed was so comfortable.

Our first impression was welcoming, second was how clean it was. We slept in comfortable beds and soft sheets, even on the trundle beds. The kitchen has every appliance I could think of. We spent a couple of evenings visiting with friends on the lanai looking out over Hilo town through the palm trees, wonderful! It got to be kind of a joke, if you need something, keep looking. Bev has provided everything. I recommend this home to everyone, just not on the dates I plan to return!

What a wonderful rental. Everything was absolutely spotless and Bev was a great host, super communicative and always quick to help with any issues. Property was huge for the listed number of people...laid out as an actual home rather than just trying to cram beds everywhere for an unrealistic number like so many others. Very convenient location, only 5 minutes from Rainbow falls of 10 minutes from downtown Hilo. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Bev's guest house is a great option for a couple or couple with up to 2 small children. There is a day bed in living room for a child, and a pack and play for an infant/toddler. Bev has thought of everything for her guests, and is right next door (although she respects your privacy) if anything is needed. The lanai is wonderful, looking out towards the ocean and town in the distance. You will have a clean, fully equipped, centrally located to all the sights on the Hilo side of the island, spacious little self-contained and private house. The walk to town is about 2 1/2 miles each way, so if that is an issue you will need transportation.

Beverly’s vrbo was absolutely PERFECT! She has thought of everything you would ever need in every room of the house. There is a large walk in closet. The house was spacious and airy. The view was amazing from the deck. The areas were larger than in the listing photos. Very easy check in and communication. Beverly is so friendly, welcoming, and kind. Hilo is amazing! We walked the neighborhood every morning and enjoyed the beautiful homes. You will absolutely love Beverly’s home. Reserve it today!!!!

The house is in a lovely neighborhood overlooking Hilo. Parking was easy, the beds were comfy and the lanai was great. There is no air conditioning unit in the house but that is not an issue because of the ceiling fans and all the screened windows that open. We would definitely stay here again.

This s VRBO fit our needs perfectly. The home was charming, well appointed, and clean. Bev was also great and easy to communicate with.

This house is perfect. My husband and I traveled from Boston and due to time difference we would wake up at 5 am and catch sunrise every morning. The view from the porch just stunning. House itself is so clean and accommodating, you get everything you need to feel like home on your vacation. Also area is pretty, so green with flowers everywhere. We were really happy that we chose Hilo side, less touristy but still a lot of things to see and experience. Beverly also was so kind and quick to answer all our questions. I hope we will come back to Hilo and definitely stay at Bev's house again!

Being a local resident of Maui and when you hear the phrase ALOHA SPIRIT….that is what Beverly is all about first and foremost. Working with Bev was super easy & the connection she made with myself & my family was on point. Thank you Bev for not only taking care of your visitors from afar but your Kamaaina residents as well. “HOME AWAY FROM HOME” is exactly what it was. I walked in and instantly felt the warmth & coziness. It was perfect with just the right amount of space for the 3 of us. Very clean & Bev provided more than enough for our week stay. Best part was my husband and I enjoying our coffee/tea on the lanai just taking in the quietness of the neighborhood and amazing view. I definitely recommend Bev’s place for your stay. Great cooling breezes in the afternoon, spotlessly clean accommodation, beautiful view from the lanai. So well stocked and organized in every way! I know they are considered a nuisance, but the frog symphony in the evening is quite something to behold! Did not bother us at all.

This was a wonderful place! I come to Hilo a lot to see my daughter, who attends college there, and this is the nicest place I've stayed. Very VERY clean, great location, wonderful host. This will be my go-to spot for future visits. You can't go wrong staying at Bev's place!!

What a quaint, well-appointed lodge! All the necessities of home was included and more. Enjoyed the lanai facing the airport/ocean view and the rain. Bev was welcoming and prompt in addressing any questions. The lodge is about a 7 mins drive down to downtown Hilo - which was perfect for us since we didn't want to be in downtown. Truly relaxing and would return! Thank you Bev.

This vacation rental was the perfect base camp as we explored the east side of the island, including Volcanoes National Park. (Two adults, one kid). We were looking for a comfortable place to make meals and relax as a family after a day out. This place exceeded expectations. The rental was immaculate and the owner’s attention to detail was apparent.The kitchen was well furnished so it was very easy to make meals. The washer/dryer worked well, and came in handy especially after the hikes. The beds were good - Kiddo enjoyed sleeping on the day bed with trundle.

Bev’s house is the perfect place to stay for your stop in Hilo. It’s immaculately clean, comfortable and surprisingly well-stocked will all sorts of items you may have forgotten or not realized you needed :). It’s a short and beautiful ride to town.
