Our stay was very good

The condo is spacious, clean and located in a beautiful, private setting across from Donner Lake, a few minutes from downtown. The condo fully stocked with all necessities and the beds are comfortable. The property host, Rhonda, is very organized and responsive. We have no complaints. This is our go-to spot!

The condo has plenty of rooms for our family of 5 (all adults) and a dog. It's in a great location and a quiet neighborhood. The private beach access is top-notch. Rhonda is awesome! She quickly responded to all our inquiries. We will be back!

We spent my daughter's 16th birthday here and had a wonderful stay. The condo is newly remodeled and had everything we needed. 3 floors including a small loft that might 10 YO daughter enjoyed. It was modern but still cozy with a massive fireplace that heated the upstairs. It's in a great location on Donner Lake, just off Hwy 80. Close proximity to Truckee and skiing at Sugar Bowl, Boreal and other ski resorts. Overall a great place that we would rent again!

Quiet beautiful setting. Perfect to relax, read, listen to music, and go on nice walks by the lake. Great amenities. Super easy to manage.

Our Truckee Condo was well appointed, beautifully furnished and had tremendous views. We visited during a peak fire time which kept us indoors, but enjoyed ourselves a great deal, cooking and playing games and enjoying family time. It's a great location and a beautiful place, and the owners are very thoughtful. Highly recommend.

This was one of our best family vacations. The home was so comfortable, the view from the deck was great, the easy access to the lake (across the street) was wonderful. The private beach was perfect and we avoided the crowds. Not to mention Truckee Ice Cream shop was literally walking distance which we enjoyed two nights in a row. We definitely will be back. We will be back.

The beds, the views, the appliances, the location, this property has it all — my family and I had a wonderful time, enjoyed our stay immensely and will definitely be going back! The owner has thought of every detail, comfortable bedding, entertainment in every room, the master bath is gorgeous — close to ski resorts, Truckee and views of the lake are AMAZING! It was just too cold to float around in a canoe while I was there so I plan to next visit! Communication was outstanding from Rhonda — if you’re on the fence, book it, you’ll be glad you did.

This property was exactly as advertised and the attention to detail was not missed (from robes to slippers, to quality linens to the pots and pans for use). We would absolutely stay at this property again and look forward to our return.

Our family enjoyed our stay in the clean and cozy condo with lake views! The beds were very comfortable with luxury linens and Rhonda was easy to communicate with. The instructions were very detailed and covered everything we needed. Thanks for a lovely weekend!

We had a lovely peaceful White Christmas in beautiful surroundings. The home was welcoming, cozy, clean and comfortable. It was decorated nicely for Christmas. It was well kept up and decorated. We were thinking we’d like to make a summer visit there next time.

Easy location, beautiful view and a super comfortable place. My adult children LOVED the deep bathtub. My only thoughts would be to add a good reading light in the living room, otherwise it was perfect. Rhonda was amazing to work with, understanding and respectful of our needs.

Our family had a really great experience at our recent stay here. From the start, Rhonda was really thorough and timely in all her communications. She also found out that there was construction on the weekdays during our stay and reached out immediately to offer us free cancellation/modification of our trip or a discount for those days. We took the discount and really appreciated that she wanted us to be 100% happy. When we arrived the overall complex looked a little run-down on the outside but this particular unit was spotless and renovated! It was great during COVID to feel reassured about the cleanliness of the property and it was truly spotless! Truckee was a quick trip away and we were able to enjoy some really nice meals outdoors. Despite the smoke and wild fires we were still also able to enjoy the private beach each day. It was really nice b/c the public beach down the street was really crowded so the small private beach felt really relaxing and great. We even saw some brown bears, which was both scary and exciting! The little ice-cream store was also closer than we thought when we first looked at the map; the kids really enjoyed walking there in the evenings and enjoying that as well! Overall we had a really great trip!

Great time, great views of the lake from condo! Kitchen was tops! Everything you need to Create wonderful meals!!! The most cool thing though we have to say is the private beach and dock! Spent most of the day enjoying the beautiful scenery and fishing! Got some nice trout for our last night meal too!!! Thank you Rhonda for all the great information and your wonderful home!!!

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home, conveniently located on Donner Lake.

We had 2 families stay at the condo for a long weekend. The location was great as it was right across the street from Donner Lake and minutes from Truckee. The private beach and gazebo access were also awesome to be able to use during the weekend. The condo was well stocked and beautiful inside. Would highly recommend and would love to come back there again.

location & condition of the property was excellent for our use. Communication with property mgr was very good. always returned our EM promptly. Everyone enjoyed our stay!

Our family of 4 stayed for the second time and loved it as much as the first! We travel with kayaks and paddle boards and the private beach is a must for us! We drop them off the first day and pick up when we leave. The home has a great layout where you can be together as a family in the dining/living area or tuck away downstairs if you need some space. Rhonda is awesome to work with! We will be back!

This condo is very clean and easy to find as Rhonda was very details with the instructions for checking in and out of the property. Our families enjoyed the stay there and the access to the private beach area. Will definitely consider this again for our next trip here.

everything was just great

This was a very nice condo for our ski weekend. Great communication, directions, opening/closing instructions. The quality is top-notch, everything worked just as it should, and it was very cozy and comfortable. Kitchen was fully stocked, plenty of blankets, super comfortable beds, good instructions for heating the place quickly. I'm guessing this place really stands out from the rest of the condos in the complex. It's a lovingly done remodel from top to bottom. We were especially impressed with the "candles" on the dining table that lighted magically when it got dark and then were off on their own by morning! We just happened to come during a time when the snowfall was non-stop and the freeways/roads/parking lots hard to navigate which did make parking access tricky (we don't have 4-wheel drive), but it was clear that the amount of snow over a multi-day period was definitely unusual. The condo is very easy to access from the garage area (but it would not be that easy if you needed to walk items up from the lake-facing road), so 4-wheel drive definitely recommended if lots of snow predicted during your stay. When it comes to the loft, the manager was very clear beforehand in making sure that we understood the layout which we had looked at closely. We had six people total. Four of us were very comfortable in the 2 bedrooms downstairs. And, our two youngest did fine in the loft, but would be best for young children who do fine in small spaces. The windows to the loft really help to open it up, but the ceilings are very low (just as pictured), so it's important to understand the space if you plan to utilize it. All in all, this place is a cut above. It is a wonderful condo! We hope to return.

Our family really enjoyed our stay at this Donner Lake condo. It was so warm and cozy. Great memories of a wonderful holiday skiing, relaxing, playing games and exploring the beautiful landscape. The Christmas tree and amenities were wonderful! Look forward to visiting another time.

Our stay was perfect! Our Host was so prepared and everything was explained very clearly. The condo was roomy, clean, and very upscale. It’s comfortable for 4 adults to have beds. The loft is definitely for little people but very cozy for max of 3. The house has a heating system and no air conditioning but it stayed pretty cool with the windows open at night! Loved the beach front and the ice cream shop down the street so close. Would surely rent it again!!!

Our family enjoyed our stay and made good use of the private beach access. The place has been beautifully updated and was very comfortable and clean. Rhonda at Starting Gate was easily accessible to answer questions. We would definitely stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay. Great views and a really cool house. It was perfect for our group of four.

We had a nice stay with my family here. The place was nicely decorated and clean, the kids loved the upstairs “bunker”. The condo was close to all activities, including skiing and hiking. The owner was very responsive as well.
