Great place to stay. Very clean and owner makes you feel at home

After going to Neal’s every Memorial Day and Labor Day for over 30 years, we wanted to branch out and see what else was out there for our family. This place was perfect! We were right on the water, so no morning rush to get your spot set up, which was great! Perfect house for littles and up. Easy to just walk back up for nap time. Had everything we needed to cook and we utilized the laundry facility while we were there. Owner and Manager of the property was outstanding as a host. Very good people. Please do not hesitate to book this property or any of the others on site if you are wanting to gather your large family together. We made memories on the frio!!

Me and my family had a really great stay at this property! We loved the layout of the outdoor area and the close walk to the river! Donny is a great host and is very hospitable!!!

Loved everything about this property. We have 5 families in our family including a 2 months old, 9 month old, 2 3 year olds and a 5 year old plus 10 adults, the house was perfect for us!

The house was big enough to accommodate our party of 8 comfortably. Plenty of beds for everyone to have their own spot. It was close to the river with the option to drive a couple of vehicles right down to the river edge. Lots of shade while sitting in the river too. There was a lack of some basic kitchen items and a lot of the pans need replacing. The air conditioning in each room worked great and was really nice for everyone to have the ability to set their own temperature for their room. The location was pretty private with not much traffic and close to shops for ice and souvenirs. I would recommend this property.

We looked for a house that could accommodate three separate families including our recent HS grads and Ella’s Guest Lodge was perfect! The extra accoms of being steps from the water made it even better! Donny is the best host and was there every time I texted him. The complimentary shuttle to either be dropped off or picked up was amazing. We’ve never brought our own tubes before this trip and decided with Donny’s shuttle service that tube rentals wasn’t necessary. Perfect!!!! The house, patio, privacy from other guests, and parking spaces was also top notch. The location is great too. Thank you so much Donny. We can’t wait to come back!!! We already miss your two dogs Sissy and Peanut!

Great fun on the river for entire family m

Adult family time. Quiet & peaceful since off season. Best time ( in my opinion) to go. Some restaurants closed or limited menus in Concan at this time but we enjoyed no crowds. Place is awesome & just as described. Clean, comfortable & plenty of room. Owner & staff quick to answer any questions.

Everything just as pictured. Management was super responsive and helpful. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again.

Ella's Guest House has ample sleeping space and the outside seating area is spacious we brought washer boards and corn hole to play, it is a great place for a group of family and friends to hang out.

Although there was no floating the river this year, this spot on the river still had plenty of water to sit out and enjoy. We loved that it had river access, a swim spa and when able to float, they shuttle you and you float back to the property. My family has been going to the Frio for over 40 years. We’ve never stayed anywhere that offered so much!

I have nothing negative to say about this place! GREAT location, AWESOME owner & staff, CLEAN house & property! We look forward to staying here next summer and summers to come!

The owner was very friendly and never hesitated to help us if we needed anything. The river was beautiful. It was close enough to walk down, or you can drive down if you have lots of floats and chairs to bring with you. There were plenty of tables down at the river to sit at. We will definitely d going back!

We had the best time and the house was amazing

Staying under one roof with family and friends , an excellent way of enjoying each other company regardless of age. It was a well spent weekend getaway.

This isn’t my first time staying on this property, the location is great super close to the river quick walk or drive down. And having a personal shuttle to float the river makes it easier to coordinate with groups. Definitely recommend.

Weather did not cooperate, but it was a fun weekend !

Great place to have family reunions. Lots of room inside and outside. Beds are comfy. Easy access to the river (great beautiful 2-minute walk) and wide open spaces to have a bonfire, dance under the stars, and bike around. Huge kitchen space! Owners are awesome and very accommodating. We hope to stay again one day.

Well maintained grounds, very clean. A bit lack of privacy ,a lot of other houses and trailers close by. Has a "summer kamp" vibe.

Donny and Sid were so welcoming and helpful the whole time we were there. The private access to the river is a huge plus for us. Shuttle service and ice machines on the premises were also a plus for us. This was our 30th year coming to the Frio but our first time staying at this house. We will definitely be booking again for next year.

We needed time away from the stress of the world of today and Ella's Guest Lodge and The Frio River was just the right place. The lodge was beautiful and sparkling clean, the river was very relaxing and not crowded.. This trip was a gift to our daughters, there husbands and our grandchildren from my wife and I and everyone had a wonderful time. Thanks to Donny and Sid.

Would highly recommend Donny Haggerton’s properties! Our hosts, Donny and Sid, are attentive, friendly and very accommodating to all your needs. This property is a very short walk to the river and the riverfront accommodations are excellent!! Would highly recommend these properties!

Ella’s was perfect for our family. Check in was easy and we were given a tour of the house and river area. We had the kids share two of the rooms and each adult couple had their own bedrooms w/en suite bathrooms(with extra beds we didn’t even use in each). The mattresses were very good quality and a comfortable soft but firm and very cozy. It was so nice that our parents, brother and wife, and my husband and I each had some privacy. That’s hard to find in a lot of rentals. Each room has individual AC thermostats and gets very cold! It was over 100 degrees during our trip and the house stayed very cool. Hand soap and boxes of tissues were provided in each bathroom. The extra toilet paper we brought wasn’t needed as each bath had several rolls. The private river access was beautiful with shallow smooth river rock bottom area for the kids with a little bit deeper areas both up and down river. We spent hours snorkeling and saw many varieties of fish and minnows. The river is just the right depth to sit and soak just feet from bank on smooth river rocks! At night, strung lights in the trees along river access provided a beautiful ambiance in addition to our riverside fire. Our parents who are in their 70s enjoyed the easy walk down to the river and the plentiful picnic tables (which they let you put in the river) but it was also so nice that we could actually drive our own vehicle down to the river with our ice chests. The hosts were always around to take the kids up river to tube, give the grandparents rides up to the house, provide firewood, ice, offer advice, etc. Sid, you were awesome! Thank you! I really can’t say enough positives about our experience. House was super clean and well stocked with kitchen items including two large coffee makers, large bowels, large pots and pans, muffin tins, crock pots, gift basket, spices, foil paper, cutting boards and utensils. I was worried that the refrigerator wouldn’t hold all the food we brought for our four day stay but it was plenty large and the outdoor beer/soda cooler had all our drinks super cold by the next morning. I’m sure I’m forgetting something but would certainly stay here again! We had an amazing time! Thank you Sid and Donny!

Donny has this figured out. Been to the Frio many times in the past, but none as good as this trip. Never a worry once we got checked in. Place is secure and we never had to worry about putting any of our stuff away at night. House is great. Location is perfect. It was a really enjoyable trip and one we will do again.

Host lives on property and was a nice guy but still very disappointed in this property. So many nice places on the Frio for the same amount of money so don't choose this one. View from home was a large construction trailer, tractors, and other equipment, view from windows was the same. Home is a spruced up double-wide trailer that sleeps 24 although it was not advertised as such. No patio big enough to hold more than 8-10 people. Gravel parking lot out front door with attached apt. building. No view of the river. Several min. walk down gravel road to river. Host played loud music at the river off the toy hauler on his RV which was parked at the rivers edge with no consideration for paying guests. Outdoor patio lights missing bulbs, no dishwasher for 24 guests!! Plugs in bathroom don't work. Host requires that you thoroughly clean home on departure and make beds with specific instructions even though we paid a cleaning fee. This was reimbursed once requested. Bathrooms not clean upon arrival, toilets clearly had not been scrubbed in some time and there was a fake eyelash stuck to bathroom vanity. Shower grout was black with mold. Kitchen is very bare bones as far as utensils and pots and pans. Not enough utensils, plates, coffee cups or glasses for 24 people. We've stayed at many wonderful places on the Frio but will never stay here again or recommend this place. It was a waste of our money.
