I want to start of by saying that we have enjoyed our stay due to the surroundings of the house. Wintergreen Resort is an amazing place. We did not go to ski but hiked every day and we did no have to go off the mountain for hiking trails. The resort has tons of very nice hiking trails. We rent a lot of houses through VRBO and I have never written a negative review.... until now... The house itself is really in need of an update. It is old, small (much smaller than pictured and less beautiful than pictured too- the pictures are taken in HDR which gives a nicer look of the house). We had very low temperatures and it was hard to keep the house warm. The beds are so terrible ! We changed from room to room to see if we would be lucky but non of the queen beds were comfortable. The twin beds were better. The second bathroom has a shower but that is only for kids, an adult can not stand there. The internet is not stable at all there. We had to make a hotspot on our phones so our kids could go on internet. Before we left, I wrote the property manager to ask if there was a washing machine as we could not find that on VRBO. I never got an answer so I had to pack more clothes (We travelled by car so we try to travel light). Once we arrived we saw there was a washing machine and dryer. Not happy with the property manager at all! We would love to return to wintergreen but will not return to this property as long as no updates on this house are done. I would recommend to look for a similar property on the resort. The resort is amazing !

The house was nice, definitely smaller than it appeared in the pictures.

The cabin was great with plenty of room. It was nestled at the top of the mountain (I do mean top) with the sun coming up in front of the cabin. To make things even better was the Indian summer weather that allows us to enjoy the deck. I would certainly go it again.

We really enjoyed the cute decor and “homey” feel of the house, however it was smaller than depicted. We enjoyed the deck, and the indoor fire place also! And very convenient location for hiking/walking.

Good location. Overall, very please with property. Very clean. Initially funny smell but after often doors it went away quickly. Need a toaster (unless we couldn’t find it).

We had a great stay at the property, which is conveniently located to all Wintergreen activities and hiking. Lovely, cozy house and was very clean. However, the queen bed mattresses (especially upstairs) are worn and really need replacing. We will gladly rent this lovely home again - once those beds are replaced!

We had a great weekend getaway. The cabin was perfect for our needs and conveniently located. I would definitely come back again!

We had six adults in the house and the house’s size was so convenient for us to all hangout while we cooked meals and hung out by the fire. It’s a little tight in the sitting area but we really didn’t mind since we were gone majority of the day. The hosts are also so responsive to anything you need. Great house for a quick get away weekend!

This was a very nice and cozy cabin. I would just say that it feels smaller than the picture on VRBO looks. The rooms are all small. That is fine, but I would say that 6 adults would be really pushing it. The upstairs shower is in a bathroom with a slanted roof so you can only shower there if you are 4' tall or less. The bed in the upstairs bedroom also needs to be replaced. There is a moderate indentation in the middle resulting in the feeling of sleeping on an incline. You will roll towards the center of the bed at night.

Very cozy ski cabin - excellent location

We planned to have six but luckily only had four in our group. Six would have been entirely too tight. The main seating only accommodates four and the living room is well decorated but very small.

Perfect base camp for our trip. House was cozy for the 6 of us (4 adults, 2 boys). Great location, central to great hiking trails north and south of 64.

The physical property and location are terrific. Close to resort amenities and hiking trails. The house itself is small, smaller than it appears in pictures, but a nice setup for what we were looking. A nice size for 2 couples. The house was advertised with a gas grill however when we arrived, with food to cook over a grill, we found out the grill was an older charcoal grill... and we had no charcoal which forced us to change our plans and make other arrangements. Additionally, the mattress on the bed in the upstairs bedroom, was in bad shape. It was clearly an old mattress that sunk in the middle and was very uncomfortable to sleep in. The living room furniture was acceptable, but could also stand to be replaced (the seat cushions and back pillows have lost their shape and firmness). The kitchen was outfitted nicely and had most everything for basic meal prep. However, there is no real kitchen light except for a light over the sink. All of the lights in the range hood over the stove were burned out and when cooking at night, we were forced to use our cell phone light to see what we were cooking. As a summary, this was a nice property but it certainly needs to be updated. With updated furniture, we would stay here again.

Our first trip to Wintergreen and surrounding areas. It was a great experience and so much nicer than staying in a hotel. Will definitely recommend the area and Fernwood to others!

It was a great experience! Perfect for our needs and slept plenty of people! Everything was there that we needed! The only issue was a few cars had a hard time getting up the gravel driveway!

This cabin is very cute and comfy! Was a vey relaxing stay!

This was a great spot for our family of 6. This is a spruced up cabin - not really fully remodeled as might appear - but fine and perfect for a "ski cabin" getaway. Great location right by Wintergreen. We arrived at night and it was foggy so a bit difficult to see. Leaving the outdoor light on would have been awesome. Stuck at bottom of gravel driveway briefly. Got up driveway, whole family including four small kids excitedly jump out of car...and then it took at least 10 minutes to get the electric lock on the door to actually open the door. Property manager next day said to pull the door toward us - that worked fine during the warmer day weather, but we were basically already locked out earlier that morning (gave up after 10 minutes of trying and bought the kids the two pair of gloves we had left inside) and had similar issues that evening again once it got cold again even with that advice. The water to the property was off when we arrived - not hard to turn on after a call to property manager but if that's the norm, seems like there should be instructions. Next day, went to hop in the shower and...no hot water. Apparently breakers to hot water heater were off. Again, not hard to turn on after a call to property manger but.... instructions. Plus, we then had to wait for the tank to heat up. Shower head could definitely use an upgrade and plan for about one or two short showers of hot water in tank. Other amenities I have had in similar rentals but not here - hand washing soaps at sinks, coffee filters (if not reusable), toilet paper. Also, did find in the back of the bathroom cabinet a few clorox wipes to clean the counter - based on the dirt that came up in the kitchen, everyone would appreciate those as a standard provided item (we're not that picky, but wanted to wipe the counters down after cooking dinner). Lastly, not sure why it says there is a sauna and hot tub, as there is neither. Communal pool and other amenities not included (although we called in advance to ask as some units do have passes). Finally, you are asked to take trash out but there is no receptacle and no other instructions. All that said, we might consider this place again if coming to the area because of layout and location...I'd just pack up all the things I mentioned and give the kitchen a good wipe down before unpacking.
