Very clean & comfortable cottage by the ocean. Had a wonderful stay. High-end kitchen appliances. Lovely neighborhood. Would highly recommend this cottage by the sea.

The cottage was just a pictured but so much better in person. Cozy and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. The location was perfect for our day excursions. The beach was very close for morning walks. Would highly recommend.

The cottage was perfect. Had everything anyone would need, and location couldn’t be better. Eleanor was great. We were scheduled to arrive on the day of a tropical storm, and she kept me informed about conditions on the island. Luckily the storm didn’t cause problems….. just very big waves, and a beautiful sunset.

This was my second year spending a week in this home. It’s just spectacular - clean and well designed and decorated and fully outfitted w everything we need. The upstairs deck is fantastic w views of both the ocean and the bag - and sunsets! Plum Island keeps getting better and better, including now w the Sunset Club which is a fun outdoor bar and restaurant.

The house was perfect for a family stay on Plum and even with the rainy weather we were able to be outside on the covered porch and see the ocean. We loved the cottage’s proximity to the beach and max Martha’s, so when there was a wait we could just wait at the house. Eleanor was helpful and a great host!

This cute cottage was perfect for our weekend getaway. We took early morning walks and then soaked up the warm sunshine watching the waves as we sat with our books on the beach in the afternoons. The cottage was very clean, had great decor and everything we needed. We loved the back patio where we sat outside enjoying the lilacs and birdsong. The upper deck provided wonderful views of the water and sunsets. Neighbors are close but everyone is very friendly. We had a delicious breakfast at Mad Martha’s which is a one block walk. We will definitely return to this property for another visit.

We love the Plum Island area and visit often. This is an amazing spot with everything we needed, it is a welcoming space and really feels like a home. The beach is steps away and easy to get to. The upstairs space is very special, great sunrises each morning (without getting out of bed) and space to relax outside that can be accessed from the bedroom or a staircase from the first level. The host was great, we really look forward to coming back.

We had such a wonderful stay! The peace and serenity of plum island off season was just what we were looking for yet close to Newburyport's charming downtown. The cottage exceeded our expectations. We loved all the art on the walls, the adorable upstairs, the cozy living room and quick walk to watch the sun rise and set on the beach. Having all the amenities right there was wonderful! Eleanor was great to communicate with. The property was spotless. I hope we can visit again!

We loved staying in the Cottage by the Sea on Plum Island in the winter! So peaceful! The house was clean, comfortable, and close to lovely walks in the National Park as well as amenities in town. We went to the beach several times also, just across the street! We would never have done a day trip mid winter to Plum Island, but now I'm so glad we were there in the blustery, snowy weekend we were. We loved the fireplace and spent every evening in front of it. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking. And a hot bath at the end of the night added to the cozy ambiance. Eleanor was accessible and helpful. We appreciated her love of the Island and her home reflected that. Thank you for opening your home so that the borders of our home are broader.

This is our 3rd straight year and I am sure to be many more. Its a great location, close to the beach, Parker River and town, its got everything

This is our third year at Eleanor’s charming house and we had a lovely time again. Love the partially covered deck with which to view the sunrise over the ocean with coffee and sunset over the bay with a cocktail. The great town of Newburyport only a 10 minute drive. We will definitely return again and again.

The house was pristine and beautifully decorated. It felt like visiting a friend with amazing taste. The upstairs deck was amazing with the bay out the back and the ocean out the front. I could have spent every day just there. I can’t wait to go back!

The pictures on this listing do not do it justice! This house is fantastic - such good use of space. Every room and alcove provides a new spot to relax, both inside the house and outside on its various decks and roof top sitting area (the star of the house in my opinion). Well maintained hardwood floors, lots of sunlight, comfortable beds, and a great kitchen made this spot perfect for us. It's a short walk to the beach (5 min tops from door to sitting on your beach chair) but you do need to walk down the sidewalk a bit, and then cross the road to get to the closest beach access path. Our only (very minor) issue with the house was the lack of curtains or black out blinds in top floor bedroom. Even with blinds, that morning sun is *bright* ! Not a big deal at all - solved by a sleep mask. Speaking of the top floor bedroom - it has a door leading to the previously mentioned rooftop area with great ocean views, some comfortable deck furniture, and relaxing fresh air and breeze. I really can't say enough good things about this house. It's comfortable, well decorated, in a great location (easy access to cafes, provisions, and the access road) and the owner is very responsive and helpful. I'd definitely stay here again the next time we're in Plum Island.

Eleanor’s cottage is gorgeous. Perfect for my husband and me and our college aged son. Both bedrooms were perfect. The location is perfect and many nights we drifted off with the sound of the waves. We cooked a few dinners in the kitchen which was nicely stocked. Great home base for exploring the area. Plum Island was a 45 minute drive from Boston. We drove to Crane Castle and Newburyport and Gloucester. We also took a day trip to Portsmouth in NH. Tendercrop farm has excellent produce and meats. We took a fishing trip with Codfather Charters and caught lots of flounder. Captain Drago was awesome. My son loved it so much he wants to come back yearly. Don’t hesitate to book this beautiful beach cottage.

We had a wonderful May stay! Eleanor was a gracious host, very responsive to questions and accommodating! The house was very clean, well appointed and a great fit for our family of four. We lucked out with amazing weather during our stay so we enjoyed the upper deck space and quick walk to the beach. The house is in a great location on plum island. Hope to return again some time.

This cottage made for a lovely winter break getaway. Plum island is a beautiful setting, even during a snowstorm and the cottage is drop dead gorgeous. The host is very responsive and communication is great. I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to others nor to stay there again sometime!

We (2 couples) stayed here recently and it was a perfect place and location for a quick weekend getaway. It’s winter but still beautiful views and Beach across the street. Great good and drink close by. In and out was simple. Would definitely come back.
