The rental is located on the north end of the island which is perfect for families with young children. It was very clean upon arrival and we did not experience any issues during our stay. I was concerned at first because it is a duplex however, we could not hear the neighbors at all and they had small children!!? The Mermaid staff checked on us via text/call during our stay t ensure our needs were met. This is a place that we would rent again!

The unit is well equipped and very clean. We have rented this home several times but it is probably our last:( It has been a stretch to go without a dishwasher but the mattresses are unforgivable. In the primary room it was like Sleeping on the box springs. Our adult daughters were similarly uncomfortable and called the mattresses in the double twin room “water beds”. After a long day of family activities you look forward to a good nights rest but that didn’t happen here. Super thin sheets and one thin blanket night after night was a real disappointment. This is the first bad review I have left after dozens of 4th of July rentals on Tybee but for the inflated holiday price we were completely underwhelmed. While I understand the challenges of the dishwasher, there is no excuse for not doing what you can to ensure guest comfort. For $500 + a night we deserved better.

The Mess Hall is the perfect location for us to take our 5.5 minute (we timed it) walk to the quiet North beach. She could play on the screened in porch. The north side of Tybee Island Beach is perfect for the little ones, especially at low tide. I have been staying with Mermaid Cottages for the last 4 years. Each time I have chosen a different cottage based on the Group I was with. Each year has not been a disappointment. Tammy always calls and makes sure everything is going well. The houses are clean and well supplied. The entry and exit are quick and easy. I will continue to return to Tybee each year and I will continue to use a Mermaid Cottage. We stayed for one week with our two children, 10 and 12, and we were all comfortable.My favorite things about this place were the super cool (and short!) walk along the beautiful path to get to the beach, how clean the entire cottage was, and how quiet the neighborhood was. Very few cars drove by. The neighborhood is located in historic Fort Screven, right behind Officer's Row, which is pretty amazing, even if history is not your thing. I also loved the large screened in porch, where I could drink coffee every morning, and relax with a drink in the evenings. The whole house was adorned in perfect vintage style. The island's bike route was easy to access, and Jaycee Park was right in the backyard. Enlisted Men's is within walking/biking distance to the lighthouse and Fort Screven Museum, too, both of which were cool to tour. The Tybee Island beach is really a special place - unlike other beaches where we have stayed. During low tide there is a huge area of hard compact sand, which was perfect for morning jogs (we can't run well on many of the soft sandy beaches of NJ). The water and waves were very gentle, which made us feel good about letting the kids swim each day. We took advantage of walking north along the sand to the North Beach Bar and Grill for lunch one day - I highly recommend doing that. Mermaid Tammy checked in with us, and even recommended a few good places to eat - all of which we tried without disappointment. The customer service was excellent!If I had to find one thing to improve about this place, it would be to add pavers or hardscaping near the hose area to wash our sandy feet after a day at the beach. We washed our feet in the grass to the right of the sidewalk because we wanted to keep the sidewalk dry to minimize tracking in wetness. But, this is no deal breaker.I highly recommend this place - it is a true gem in a special locati

Super clean and cute property with tons of character, close to beach. The only negatives being the locks tend to stick making it hard to get in an out at times. Bed was not to our preference. Could feel springs poking and we found it extremely hard. Might just need a mattress topper. Checkin was also late in my opinion at 4 but this was clearly stated and might be common on the island?? Even so, we enjoyed our stay.

The best birthday weekend at the cutest little cottage! We loved everything about our stay! The communication was top notch! Location was perfect! The house was so clean I let my 7 mo old granddaughter crawl around everywhere. Beds were comfy, loved the screened in porch! My husband is a builder and loved the aesthetics of this historical home. We had dinner at the Crab Shack (2 mi away and a definite must eat at) the first night and grilled steaks at the cottage the 2nd night. We enjoyed a day at the beach, which was close enough to walk to. Thank you to the sweet host for my birthday bottle of wine! We can’t wait to go back for our next stay! This is definitely one of our favorite vacation rentals! You won’t go wrong picking this cute cottage for your next Tybee Island visit!

We had such a great stay at the Enlisted Men’s Mess Hall. We felt welcome before we even arrived. Tammy was wonderful checking in with us before our arrival and when we first got there. We loved how we could easily walk to the beach, lighthouse ice cream and many restaurants. The space in the cottage was just right for our family of 4 and our 2 dogs loved the fenced in yard and daily walks around the adjacent park. We would love to come back!
