We really enjoyed the stay and rooms. There were a lot of space and the common room on the 2nd floor was beautiful. Some downsides were there were a lot of ants, both outside and inside the house. Also, maybe we missed it, but there were a lot of house attendants that randomly showed up at the house, wished we were warned ahead of time.

Ten of us (6 adults and 4 teens) came to Tamarindo for a much-anticipated family reunion. Some from the east coast and some from the west coast, so the location worked for everyone. The house was fantastic - plenty of room / decks for everyone to spread out for some alone time, but also a big inviting living room and dining table (covered outside). The AC kept everything cool despite the days hitting 90 degrees. The concierge, manager, night watchman and cleaning person were all so nice! The concierge put us in touch with a fantastic surf instructor (Monica) and arranged for golf carts to be delivered (and picked up) at the house. Enrique (house manager) was incredibly responsive to our house-related requests- we couldn’t find a toaster or a cutting board, for example and he was quick to handle it. We should have contacted him earlier and more often for some of the oddities that one always runs into when renting a house. Frankly, I’ve never rented a house that comes with all the human assistance that comes with this house so it didn’t occur to us until half-way through the stay to bring some things up. We ended up renting a car for a few days to get out of (crowded) Tamarindo. The house would be too big for just the four of us, otherwise we would definitely be back again soon. The bedrooms are very comfortable. The floors are concrete, so bring comfy inside shoes if you are sensitive to hard floors. It is half-way up a hill, which makes for beautiful ocean views, but also is approximately 1/4 mile walk uphill from the beach - we were glad to have rental cars and golf carts, but mostly for the two 70 year olds with us.

This is the single best Vrbo experience I’ve ever had. The house is in a perfect location; a 5 minute walk to the start of town but just far enough away from the noise. The property itself is gorgeous with a clean pool, hot running water and super comfy beds. Lastly, the hosts are super helpful with local tips and tricks. Highly recommend!

Our reservation started out nicely as Christina and Matt were both responsive and helpful! Matt was at the home to welcome us very helpful with setting up a scuba diving tour with his friend’s company. Day two is when all changed. The kitchen was infested (100’s) with large ants around the sink, window, the sliding door to the patio and running across the kitchen and living room floor. We had not eaten in the home yet so food being left out was not the issue. I kindly reached out to Matt via text and described the issue. He brought by Ant killer spray the next day which we applied with no relief. I reached out on day three to let him now and was met with no response. I finally took a video of the mayhem on day four to which Matt responded that he would send an exterminator the next day (day five). We could not use the kitchen as it was fairly gross to even consider. We had to cancel entertaining friends (who were vacationing there at the same time) at our home which was disappointing. The lack of urgency and assistance was unfortunate and was ruining our stay. On day five (the same day as exterminator) our family went Scuba diving with Matt’s scuba friend. The friend actually addressed my entire family about our complaint which was unprofessional. He admitted Matt had called to laugh about our family’s ant issue. The friend also shared that he and Matt agreed we were overreacting. The friend said Matt mentioned he received my videos and realized the issue was VERY real. It was inexcusable we were in this situation with the scuba friend. Incredibly unprofessional. The friend also overshared that Matt had to “re-list” this property on renting sites with a new name due to low reviews and issues. That was inappropriate to share but helps paint the picture. After our stay, we texted with Matt to discuss a proper resolution for our troubles. After a few attempts at contact, Matt finally directed me to his real estate “partner”, Michael, to discuss a resolution. Michael did call us and was open and agreeable to refunding part of our trip. Unfortunately, we never heard back from ANYONE. We reached out multiple times to Matt, Christina and Michael. We are incredibly disappointed. I wish VRBO would allow me to post screenshots of our texts and pictures of the infestation. Shameful how they have completely disregarded us and refuse to “do the right thing.” Matt, Christina and Michael, please reach out if you are open to a conversation.

This was a perfect house for our family! We had 10, and felt super comfortable the entire time. The house situated perfectly one road off the Main Street and has a beach entrance just a 10 minute walk away. The golf carts make this place absolutely a steal! Matt and Christina are quick to respond and very helpful with suggestions for tours and fun things to around town. We loved this house, I would stay here again without a doubt!

Great view, amazing common area, very confortable for big groups, good location, not ideal for people with low mobility: about 20 stair steps from the entry door to the pool and “first floor” rooms, then more stairs to the large common area, and more to the master bedroom, also located in a hill, gives an amazing view, but hard to walk to the beach for older or low mobility people (we were a group of 13, including 2 above 80 years and 2 babies under 2 years). Matt is a very nice and welcoming guy, they even had cold beers and breakfast ingredients for us.

Great stay here with my family. Property is large and great for big families or groups. There is great views from balconies and property is not too far from town. Christina was sweet and super helpful in accommodating us on booking activities to do while we were down there. Overall satisfied!

We were a group of 15. We never felt crowded. Plenty of room to lounge around. Great view of the beach. Beds were comfortable. Matt quickly fixed small issues we had with hot water and electricity. Long outdoor table on balcony that easily fit 15 of us for meals. We rented golf carts to get around and go to grocery store. Overall great place that was enjoyed by all!

The house appears unfinished. Garbage bags provided didn’t fit garbage cans, drain in upstairs shower didn’t drain, overall cleanliness lacking as evidenced by dog hair and what you would expect from a place that was cleaned in between guest. The kitchen storage could use better organization. In the description, it should be noted that the walk down to the main road could pose a challenge for really young kids or elders. Host were responsive to AC not working and issue with gas.

We loved the house and Tamarindo. We relied on Christina and Matt for info on the area since we have never been there and they were the best!

Easy to rent and communicate. Great suggestions on catering and activities. Very helpful in making our trip seamless and fun especially for 10 of us!

Matt and Christina were great and very helpful! The house was ample space for myself and guests.

The house is huge, all of the bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds, everything we could think of is included. The ocean and mountain views from the multiple decks are just incredible! Coffee on the deck in the morning, drinks and snacks in the evening watching the sunset = paradise!!! We loved having the 2 separate living quarters in the home. It was so convenient having our teenagers using the kitchen, living room and bedrooms downstairs while the adults enjoyed the larger kitchen and living quarters upstairs in the main house. It was just the right amount of separation when needed, while still being able to enjoy the house as a family with everyone under one roof. Plenty of space for everyone. The 2 detached bedrooms at the opposite end of the pool were perfect bedrooms for the in-laws to sleep. And they thoroughly enjoyed staying in that area of the house. It was wonderful to stay in a quiet part of town while having all of the amenities, restaurants and especially beach being so close. We will be back to Casa Valor!!
