This is our second visit to Casa Dragonfly. The property is gorgeous and well maintained. The location is ideal, up in the hills but close to town and great restaurants. Be sure to book a surf lesson with Jeudy for Costa Rican Explorer. Bagel time, and pizza time are a quick ride away. Mosiac has great sushi. Oxygen Jungle villas are a day pass and massage.

La Libelula is a DREAM! This has been our family's favorite travel home yet. When we arrived to town, Nicolas met and led us to the gated property. The location is prime in relation to Soda's, restaurants, excursions, beaches, ATM & groceries. Licho & Darling the property caretakers were top notch. The house was spotless and the pool & deck were ready for us every day to enjoy. It was a luxury and comforting knowing that we had them available if we needed anything. Darling cooked us a traditional Tiko meal that was our favorite of the entire trip! The house and pool take your breath away, but the view, jungle and wildlife leave you speechless. Everyday we watched the monkeys, many species of birds, iguanas, and even had a special experience of seeing a sloth come down from the tree with her baby! We loved the town, but spending time at this house was truly special and gave us endless, once in a life time experiences, that excursions wouldn't necessarily provide. You will not regret booking this house! I hope one day my family will make it back to La Libelula!

The home was super clean and perfect. The property was kept up so well. We saw more wildlife on our property than we did on wildlife tours! Macaws, monkeys, bassalisk lizards, frogs and toucans all around. Licho was great- there if we needed anything or had a question. Darling cooked us dinner when we arrived and it was delicious! We can’t wait to come back!

We enjoyed the home thoroughly and would return again in the future! The highlights for us: 1. The pool - our two kids spent countless hours splashing and playing each day! It’s very well maintained and is larger than many hotel pools! 2. Bedrooms were exceptionally comfortable and clean. Although I did not use the AC, our other family members did and loved having the units in the bedrooms. 3. Licho was very responsive to our needs and we liked having him nearby. Anything we needed was minor, but he was able to address everything! 4. Our meal from Darling was exceptional! One of our favorites during our stay in Uvita. 5. The living room was a great place to gather for card games and relax. 6. Privacy - we enjoyed that we did not have neighbors, and that the main entrance was gated. There were a couple things that could stand to be updated, but nothing that would prevent us from booking again. Those minor things have been shared with the owner, Nicolas. Overall a fantastic find!!!!!

This property is amazing! We visited in 2021 and came back this year. The property manager, Nicolas, is amazing and was super helpful during our stay. Mitchell, the caretaker, was also wonderful. We were greeted with complimentary champagne and fruits. The house is spacious and airy. It is well designed and super clean. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and very private. The ocean view is stunning and you can hear the waves from the viewing deck. We enjoyed grilling our fresh caught Mahi at the outdoor bar area. Enough cannot be said about the pool area. It is beautiful.The pool is large and has a calming fountain and jacuzzi. The pool restroom was a bonus. Just outstanding. We encountered numerous wildlife. Green parrots, Macaws, toucans, howler monkeys, various amphibians and reptiles. Beaches are a short drive. Parque Nacional Marino Ballena is just down the road and Playa Hermosa is just a little further. The restaurants in Uvita were very good. Dominical is about a 20 minute drive and has shops and dining. This was, by far, our favorite place to stay. None of us were ready to leave. If given the chance, I highly recommend La Libelula for your tropical resort!

After a whirlwind first half of our trip to Arenal, Monteverde and Quepos, La Libelula was the perfect place to slow down and relax! Nikolas, Licho and Darling made everything things so easy and comfortable. Nikolas met us at the local gas station and escorted us up to the property. (Was very grateful for the SUV!). The views are stunning and the pool definitely feels like you are at your own private resort. We got especially lucky on a first night with a troop of howler monkeys visiting in the trees right above the pool. A mama with a baby on her back was a thrill for the kids!! We were a little worried at first about the lack of A/C on the main floor - but we were completely comfortable with the screen doors and the bedroom A/C units worked really well. And although there was lots of wildlife to enjoy outside, we never saw a single bug inside the house which is really a feat for Costa Rica! The shower water pressure was a little lacking but everything else was fantastic! Darling’s cooking was delicious and a real treat. And Licho kept the pool and property in tip too shape. Our Spanish skills are virtually nonexistent, but it was very easy to communicate via WhatsApp. We had pretty intense thunderstorms for a couple nights but felt totally secure in house. The house (and most of Uvita) lost power for 12 hours but there were security lights and a house generator which Licho ran for us periodically to keep the fridge cold, power phones, etc. we felt lucky to be so well taken care of. We would definitely recommend La Libelula and hope to return again with more friends and family!

A group of friends and I stayed here for a week. I honestly could've stayed so much longer and would still have had things to do and see. The house and grounds are enough to keep you happy and entertained, but there are also so many things to do nearby including: snorkeling, beautiful beaches, waterfall walks, and all the things the national parks have to offer. (Uvita is a nature lover's dream, you'll probably have to drive to Quepos or elsewhere for nightlife. ) Licho was friendly and responsive at all times, but we never felt infringed upon. Darling and Licho came through to clean up and change our towels every other day, but Licho was generally nearby working on the large property and responsive to WhatsApp (which is how most businesses communicate there too). We flew in to San Jose and found it best to book the private shuttle from the airport to the house and back again. It's a pretty long ride and the driver Nicolas connected us to was professional and friendly and just honestly made the whole thing much more relaxing. We got a car in Uvita after that. We arranged for Darling to make dinner for us for the first night after a long day of travel and it was a great choice. Dinner was fantastic and just what we all needed. During our stay we saw: so many lizards, spotted and heard monkeys, saw hummingbirds and toucans, watched leaf cutter ants and frogs, and that was just on the beautiful property alone! It is well maintained, sitting beautifully in nature, and the plant life is spectacular! The AC works great in bedrooms, and having access to laundry was nice for towels and suits, etc. We had a group, and yet still everyone found privacy because there are so many different areas around the house and property to hang out. The pool was fantastic! Overall, we loved every bit of our stay.... we would gladly go back! Thank you Nicolas, Licho, Darling, and beautiful Costa Rica, for sharing this with us.

We had a wonderful time here. The home was spotless and well maintained. Nicolas was very responsive and Licho, the caretaker, was lovely and super responsive as well. We could not have picked a better home for our mom's birthday celebration. We will be back!

Highly recommend

I am well traveled and have a long history with VRBO. The moment I laid eyes on La Libelula I knew it was the villa for us. Two cancellations, due to Covid, delayed our trip. Finally, on December 4th we arrived. We were greeted by Nicholas and Licho who showed us around the most beautiful villa I have ever seen. Then you step outside and the tropical landscape and view of the Pacific take your breath away. The pool was our second home. Each of us found our private, favorite spot to hang-out. Darlene prepared and served "typical" meals that were far from typical for us. Savory and delicious. Licho was a life saver. Always helpful. Always smiling. Nicholas was responsive and generous. I could write a book about this paradise. I won't. But I (we) will return and stay at least 3 weeks. I recommend this villa to everyone who has taken the time to read this review. You will see (and hear) monkeys, parrots and macaws everyday. We were visited by a comical Jesus Christ Lizard that had all of us laughing as he ran off. Grasshoppers are big. Leaf cutter ants are interesting and hard working. I never needed bug spray and never saw a single bug in the house. Just in case any of you are concerned about that. The town is close. Shopping for supplies is easy. Restaurants are plentiful and good. People are friendly. Happy travels to all.......

This house was just as wonderful as the photos indicate. The caretaker was always there to answer questions and help, his wife made us a fabulous meal. There were excellent excursions and restaurants close by. I highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a fabulous Costa Rica vacation!

Beautiful home with amazing views. The caretaker and his wife were so sweet. Communication was great with the property manager/owner. Very private location. The home was stunning and so clean.

A large group of friends and family spent 1 week here. If you want to experience a true Costa Rican experience surrounded by all the animals and beauty but still have the luxuries of home than this is the place to go. We had howler monkeys, toucans, Jesus lizards, dart frogs and iguanas to name a few. The caretakers are amazing people who made our stay easy and fun. Darling cooked 2 meals for us. Well worth it. Delicious!! The only suggestion is to have a car and make sure it is either 4wheel drive or able to handle steep roads. We rented a Hyundai H1 12 passenger van that had worn tires and horrible power. Had trouble making it up hills and the driveway at the house.

Amazing house!!! First off, Nicolas was so helpful answering many of our questions during our trip planning process. He met us at the gas station and we followed him up to the house upon our arrival to Uvita. We are a group of 2 families with adult children (ages 18-23). There was never a dull moment at the house. Between the pool, all the great seating areas outside and watch all the nature. We saw monkeys, toucans and macaws right at the house. The bedrooms were very comfortable for all of us. It was nice that each bedroom had its own bathroom. We didn’t spend much time indoors. Licho and Darling cooked dinner for us the first night, which was fantastic after spending the day traveling. I highly recommend Darlings chicken!!!!! They were most always around when we had a question about the house. The location is great. Uvita is an amazing town with beautiful people. We had so many great experiences with local adventure folks and restaurant owners. We all have great memories of our week stay and hope to be back again!!

This is a beautiful home perfect for a family and friends vacation. Incredibly peaceful and serene. Modern and clean with a lovely layout inside and especially outside. Nicolas was a fantastic host who was readily available through WhatsApp anytime and made us feel comfortable and welcome with great recommendations for local restaurants. The staff who maintain the property were also amazing and did a great job respecting our privacy, making every effort to remain invisible while providing stellar service replacing linens, towels and even cleaning the kitchen and doing dishes while we were out which was completely unexpected. This home has a great location that felt remote and private while easily accessing the local markets and restaurants in Uvita. Thank you to everyone at La Libelula!

My wife & I with 3 other couples just spent a Week at this amazing house. We are from Utah and just returned home. Nicolas was very accommodating and met us down in Uvita to take us up to the house. The drive from uvita to the house is only a couple minutes. Everyone in the group was shocked by how nice the house is and the incredible pool area with amazing views and jungle surrounding it. It definitely exceeded our expectations. Licho and Darling are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They took great care of the house and cooked meals for us on 3 different nights. I highly recommend having them cook your dinners on the nights you are back at the house. Uvita is a wonderful place if you enjoy being in a more secluded area with amazing beaches that aren’t crowded with people. Domincalito Beach and the Beaches on the Whales Tail were our favorite. Hermosa and Ventanas were nice as well. It was also nice that Nicolas had 5 boogie boards there at the house for us to use. There are 3 really cool waterfalls that we went and swam in (Nauyaca, Uvita and El Pavon). Also we went and did a private tour out of Sierpe that took us through the mangrove and out to Cano Island. Dolphins swam by the boat and we had a really great time snorkeling at the island. This was our first time in Costa Rica and we all want to come back and stay in this House again. It’s a stunning property with 5 star service and in an incredible location if you want to avoid the crowds. There are many good restaurants as well near by (Los Laureles and Falavel Uvita) are a couple we really liked.

This house is absolutely beautiful, and our family had a wonderful time . We were met by the owner (Nicolas) on our arrival and shown around the property, and introduced to the caretaker who was wonderful and handled any and all needs we had during our stay. The adults and children alike had a wonderful time, and loved the pool. gourmet kitchen, spacious bedrooms, and fabulous views. I highly recommend this lovely home and beautiful grounds.

Unfortunately we had to cut our trip short due to Covid-19 and borders being closed, but for the 3 full days we were there, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Darling cooked for us one night and it was delicious (we had so many leftovers it fed us the next 2 days!). Licho was amazing & helped us with whatever we needed. Nicolas was super responsive, which made things stress-free on my end. And we can’t say enough GREAT things about Gilberth. He picked us up & took us back to the airport, but also provided us with transportation wherever we wanted to go. We’d thought about renting a car, but were so thankful we didn’t. We then wouldn’t have learned so much about Costa Rica! We’re hoping to come back next year for a full week with other members of my family who were supposed to come, but couldn’t. The house is stunning, as is the pool. My 3 year old had an absolute blast. :)

Plenty of room for two families of four. Nicolas, Lico and Darling are all very kind and responsive to any issues we encountered. Beds are made every other day, not every day (not a big deal for us) and you will have to head to the beach for full views of the sunsets (again, not a big deal for us). Pura Vida!

Eight of us, 4 couples, stay at La Libelula for 2 weeks in January. Everything was wonderful. As other reviews say, there is lots of room for persons to enjoy the very large home. The pool is magnificent and quite large. We had Darling fix meals most evenings and they were fantastic. Licho is always around to help and takes care of any issues around the place. He cleans the pool early in the morning, so it is crytal clear by the time we get up. There are wonderful beaches in the area, good grocery shopping in Uvita, and lots of restaurants in town and the surrounding area if you want to eat out. However, why would you with Darling's cooking. This is a great place to vacation and we hope to return next year. We have been to this general area three times and this is our favorite house. You can't go wrong.

We loved the house! It is like having your private resort, secluded and quiet. We would love to stay longer.

This property is very well maintained and in a great location

We traveled with our family of 10, including four children from 2-10 years old. The property was everything you see in the photos and more. Our grandchildren enjoyed hours in the beautiful pool, zip lined, ATV toured and visited several beaches all less than 30 minutes away. Licho and Darling were amazing, so friendly and helpful. We had Darling cook for us three nights and everything was excellent. Would definitely recommend this property and hope to return one day again.

I only have one complaint about my stay at this house and it’s that I couldn’t stay longer. How I wish we’d had more time! Nobody in our party of 9 (ages 9-72) was ready to leave after spending a week at La Libelula. This house has everything you need - the best part being the backyard. From the large refreshing pool, to the multiple sitting and dining areas (covered which is great if you’re there during the rainy season so you can still sit and eat outside), to the hammocks one can sleep or read in, and just the beauty of the scenery all around- so lush and tropical! Stepping outside you don’t hear any people or cars- what you will hear is the sound of the ocean (a distance away but still clearly visible and audible), a running stream on the side of the property, toucans calling, birds singing, monkeys playing, etc... Binoculars are a must bring!! I spent hours (literally) watching many different beautiful birds every day and the monkeys too. I was also fortunate enough to see a Jesus Christ lizard cross the pool one morning— where else can you see that??!! Many fun things to do in Uvita- we did the ATV tour (included coffee tour and waterfall stop), whale watching (and yes we saw a humpback whale- a mom and her baby!) which included walking on the “whale tail” beach afterwards, and we also did horseback riding on the beach. We took a trip to Manuel Antonio (just a little over an hour drive)- best place to see sloths (we saw 6 including 2 babies!!) The house really is so spacious. Nicolas was so easy to communicate with and met us at the airport to greet us and even checked in mid week to make sure everything was good. Licho and Darling stay on property and are the sweetest people ever. Licho helped us out on trips into town (grocery runs, etc..) and helped us coordinate rides when needed. If there was ever anything we needed, he was there to help. Darling is a wonderful cook and I highly recommend hiring her for meals— so affordable and worth every penny- meals were always so good- even my 3 picky eater kids ate everything she made! I highly recommend this place if your looking for adventures near by or just a quiet relaxing vacation- this place offers it all! Thank you Nicolas, Licho and Darling!!

We stayed at La Libelula for 11 nights in July. My husband and I traveled with out 3 children and 3 other family members. The house was gorgeous and had plenty of room for everyone. It was nice for everyone to have their own separate bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as 2 indoor living rooms and many outdoor spaces to spend time. You could always find a quiet place if you wanted to. Nicolas was so easy to communicate with before and during out trip. He met us at the gas station nearby to show us to the house. We were greeted by Licho and Darling, the caretakers, upon our arrival. There was a large basket of fruit and a bottle of sparkling wine waiting for us as well as some soft drinks for the kids. It was a nice treat after a long day of travel! Licho and Darling were available to answer any questions we had. They cleaned the house, maintained the pool, Darling cooked delicious dinners for us a few times, and Licho even helped retrieve a suitcase that arrived 2 days late. The location was great, less than 5 min. to many restaurants, the bakery, supermarket, bank, etc. The nearby beaches (most around 10 min. drive) are beautiful! Our favorites were Playa Ventanas, Playa Hermosa, and Dominicalito. The Uvita area is beautiful and laid back. We traveled to Manuel Antonio after leaving Uvita and immediately missed it! We spent most mornings at the beach, and most afternoons by the huge pool! We were able to see toucans and other birds, monkeys, and lots of lizards around the pool. There are also plenty of other activities nearby. We took an ATV tour, surf lessons, went fishing, went swimming at waterfalls, SUP & Kayak at the mangroves. The house was clean and well kept and has everything you could possibly need. There were plenty of pool floats and toys, beach chairs and umbrellas, towels, games, etc. The kitchen was also well equipped. We made so many great memories on our trip! My family and I had the pleasure of staying in Nicholas’ beautiful home for 9 nights this June. Having been our first time to Costa Rica we were blown away by how beautiful his home and property were. Nicholas met us nearby to guide us up the hill to his property. We were greeted by Licho and Darling, the caretakers, upon arrival. Darling made us a wonderful Costa Rican meal one night and Licho was so helpful with anything we needed. We loved the fact there is a gate into the property and caretakers to help. If you are looking for a home that has plenty of room, beautiful decor, safety, and an incredible property look no further! We are a family of 6 (kids ranging in age of 6-21) and this house had everything we could ask for. The wildlife on the property and surrounding areas is incredible! The large pool got plenty of use daily. Nicholas was so easy to work with and everything was perfect! We hope one day to return back to Costa Rica and stay in this beautiful house again. Thank you all for everything! We had the most magical time! Your home exceeded our expectations. Uvita is an authentic Costa Rican town. We got to practice our Spanish daily as most of the locals speak very little English. When you go to the touristy areas more people speak English. We highly recommended Ventanas Beach. It’s perfect for families and it’s beautiful! Some of the other activities we did were Uvita Falls, Ballenas Beach, Manual Antonio National Park, Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary, and La Cusinga hiking trails and eating at the Aracari restaurant on the La Cusinga property.

We stayed at Nicolás’s home for over a week during Easter break. When we arrived Nicolás, Licho and Darling were there to greet us and help us get unpacked from the van. Instantly we feel in love with this place as it was so stunning. Nicolás helped with our Easter preparation as we have 4 kiddos and he went out of his way to ensure that we had what we needed to provide them an Easter surprise. Nicolas showed us around the house and Licho took us to go grocery shopping and grab the rental cars. The pool and outside space was the best part of the house as we spent most of our time their when we were at the house. The pool is large and easy fit the entire family in, the outside areas were large, well lite and spacious as well. Each morning the monkeys made their way passed the house and we even saw some toucans a couple of days. Overall, we would love to come back here as this is by far the best experience we have ever had renting a home. Our recent family vacation was a stay at this home which was top notch! The owner was very helpful with all of our questions and even took the time to greet us when we arrived. Leecho and Darling, the home's caretakers and cook, were also helpful and friendly. Darling's cooking was wonderful and a great way to try some of the local foods. Her guacamole is the best! When we arrived, there were monkeys in the tree beside the house and a toucan in a palm tree by the pool. What a greeting that was for us. The house is set up for outdoor living -- every nook and cranny of the house and pool deck was meticulously clean and the decorating was beautiful. We spent several of our days away from the house sightseeing, etc., but it was so nice to come back "home" and refresh ourselves in the pool. I would recommend this to anyone for an enjoyable vacation!

It was surreal to pull up to the beautiful Balinese front doors to be greeted by Nicolas (the owner) and caretakers extraordinaire Licho and Darling. The property exceeded our expectations - luxurious beyond belief and outfitted with everything you could imagine. You could tell that it was designed with love. There were lovely, personal touches throughout the home and the finishes were unique and carefully thought out. We felt like we had an entire resort all to ourselves. And I'm not exaggerating when I say our very OWN resort. There were so many places to hang out and chill. From the SIX outdoor seating/dining areas to the indoor spaces - we honestly didn't have enough time to take advantage of all the spaces. The proximity to so many beautiful beaches as well as Uvita and Dominical was a bonus however we were hard pressed to leave the villa because it was so beautiful. Licho and Darling are incredibly service-oriented (and unobtrusive at the same time). Make sure you have some meals prepared by Darling. Her cooking was delicious. Nicolas was readily available via IM throughout our stay and responded to our requests/questions very quickly. We also appreciated Nicolas coming by on our departure day to make sure everything went smoothly. I cannot say enough about the wonderful time we had at La Libelula!!

My husband and I recently stayed at La Libelula in Uvita, Costa Rica with 3 other couples. It was FANTASTIC! The layout of the home was perfect and each couple had their own bedroom and bath. We spent a lot of time at the beautifully maintained pool area that had many lounge chairs, 2 hammocks, and even water toys. There were quiet places to relax, common areas for play and fun and a large kitchen. Nicolas was so kind in answering all of our questions prior to our arrival, and was very hospitable in sharing his home with us. He met us upon arrival gave us a tour of the home and even had purchased some groceries for us in advance. Licho and Darling, who live on the grounds nearby, were so sweet and very helpful. Darling prepared DELICIOUS meals for us on 2 evenings when we just wanted to relax at the house. Licho checked with us daily to see if there was anything we needed and always followed through on answers for us. We even had a tree full of howler monkeys one evening in a tree right next to the house. I highly recommend this home to anyone visiting the Uvita area of Costa Rica! Barb
