absolutely stunning, we couldn’t of been any happier or surprised. The photos do no do this home justice. we are a family of 8 and we had more then enough room and more activities then we knew what to do with. we will absolutely be staying here again ❤️

We celebrated our 35th anniversary with our adult children and their partners. I have visited Fontana Lake since I was a kid and love it! All the other reviewers have highlighted the many perks of this property and we agree with all of them! It’s amazing how much room you have to spread out and our party of 9 had plenty of room! The dock is really not a bad walk. If you don’t handle stairs well, there is a trail down to the dock that is less steep. Even though we had a lot of rain over our 4 day weekend, we spent as much time as possible on the water. Everyone but me jumped off the top deck!! It is a perfect place for dogs. The enormous deck is gated and they loved patrolling the lake and the woods from their secure location. This a house clearly designed to make the best use of family time! It was well worth the splurge and I envy Wayne and Esther their slice of paradise. It is divine!! It is the most well equipped rental you’ll ever find!

This is the second time we have stayed at this property. It was so great the first time that we wanted to stay here again. Covid kept us from renting this home until 2022. We had another wonderful time here. Lots of watercraft to use, good dock and nice location on the lake.

Another amazing week at Esther and Wayne house on Lake Fontana! Our family has stayed here multiple years and love every minute. The property lacks for nothing and the new boat is awesome!

The property is in the mountains and very peaceful. The incline to the lake is pretty steep, but a great view. Well stocked kitchen. Nice place to recharge.

The drive to get to this house can be a bit tough, but it's worth it. The house is very well stocked and the inclusion of kayaks and paddleboards is a great bonus. The TV room was great fun for the family and is stocked with movies and books

A quiet, secluded place to relax and enjoy time with family. The leaves were beautiful and the fall mountain air was so refreshing! We will definitely be going back during warmer weather so we can access the dock and enjoy the water.

My family loved our stay. The house was as described - well stocked with everything we needed. We only left once to go for a hike at Deep Creek. We had a very relaxing time at the house and on the boat. We will be back. I give the hosts five stars!

Laid back vacation, the views from the pontoon were worth walking down the steps, coming back up on the gravel road was a little easier. Esther was super helpful in answering all of our questions. Fishing was not great but that’s why they call it fishing and not catching, we enjoyed trying and making memories.

This is our second time at this house on Fontana Lake and can't say enough good things about it. A great location, awesome house that is fully stocked and terrific, responsive owners. A real pleasure to deal with Esther & Wayne. Highly recommend this house if you want to be on the water and close to nature.

This lakefront home was everything dreamed of for soaking up summertime with family! From the research and photos, we knew we were in for a treat with a beautiful home. Loved all the decks and dock, as there was ample space for everyone ... whether they wanted to be alone with coffee, to take in the peace from the morning mist on the lake, or they chose to be with the whole gang in the large open concept kitchen and family room, connected to the large deck. There were many amenities that were a pleasant surprise ... using the pontoon daily to enjoy wide open spaces on Fontana Lake, which is breathtaking. The day was never done when docking the boat, given the canoe, kayaks, paddle boards, and they were in different sizes which was perfect for a family of very different age ranges. The fire pit was so nice for evening smores. Even appreciated just how well equipped the massive kitchen is ... the appliances are everything I have in my own home, and far beyond what I would expect in a vacation home. The towels and sheets also felt very good, and made for a lovely surprise at the end of an eventful day. Thank you for all the beauty and relaxation provided in this sacred space! We truly feel rejuvenated and plan to be back!

My family and I have a wonderful week on the lake. The house was just perfect for our needs. We spent most of our time on at the dock. The paddle boards and kayaks were enjoyed and used daily Having the pontoon boat was an added enjoyment. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This is our third time renting this property and I would recommend it to anyone.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage, complete with movie theater and hot tub--which both worked great. But the most fun was on the water, with pontoon boat rides, kayaking, and trying out SUPs. Everything was in great shape and ready to use. And all 4 of us could get out on the water at the same time. The view from the dock is unbeatable! Couldn't imagine a better time.

We had a wonderful stay! Esther was so helpful and accommodating. It was a perfect family vacation. We loved the water sports, hiking, porches for relaxing and reading, family dinners, family movies downstairs, making a fire in the evenings and the large well equipped kitchen. The place is nicely decorated and has everything you’ll need. We would recommend: A day trip to Asheville, hike the Road To Know Where, walks from the house, kayaking, paddle boarding and the Breweries in Bryson City. So much fun! We will be back.

My family and I had a great time on the lake with the boat and kayaks. The house was clean and well maintained! Great views! The owners were always quick to respond and answered all our questions!! 12 out of 10 recommend. We will be back!

The other glowing reviews tell the story. As advertised. Tucked away up in the woods but close enough to be in Bryson City or Cherokee in 40 minutes or less. Great spot for the family to get away and chill. Owner is awesome and responsive. No issues. A VRBO you can trust. Def would go back.

Our family of 5 rented this property for spring break. The home is located in a gated mountain community near Bryson City. The home is approx 20min from the gate, and roads are paved until the last little bit. (Would recommend arriving in daylight hours and bringing groceries with you). The home is very well cared for and has everything you need for an enjoyable family vacation. We did not use the pontoon boat or kayaks/SUPs due to rainy cold weather but these would be ideal for summertime! We were very comfortable in the home and it has a lot to offer—fire pit, hot tub, boat dock on the lake, games, books, dvds, and large projection screen TV. Internet is available but limited. The kids loved the bunk bed room. There was plenty of space to spread out and an extra bedroom that we did not use. We checked out the Nantahala outdoor center nearby, Deep Creek trails/waterfalls, Cherokee museum, and the national park Cherokee entrance, and took a day trip to the Biltmore estate (we missed the blooms by a few weeks!). The owners were very attentive and provided information about the area & things to do. We recommend this home for a nice family get away.

We enjoyed celebrating Thanksgiving at this beautiful home. It’s was tucked away, overlooking the beautiful lake. The house was extremely clean and comfortable. We felt right at home. We will definitely plan another visit in the future.

Lots of accomodations and things to do at the house and on the lake. There wasn't anything we needed that wasn't on the premises except groceries. Being on the porch that overlooks the lake was like being in a treehouse. We had a great time.

Loved everything about the house

This property is amazing - had a reunion with a few good friends I haven't seen in a while. We had the best time jumping off the dock and using the boat. Grilled out every night and they also have an excellent cd collection! Definitely will be back.

My husband and I wanted a getaway where we could drive and not fly, so decided on the Bryson City area, a 2+ hour drive. So happy we found this place - exactly what we needed. We only left the property once to go hiking. We hung out on the dock fishing, swimming and kayaking (it is a loooooooooooong way down). Everything you need is there, including all kitchen supplies. If you have no intention of leaving the property, definitely stop at the grocery store on your way to the house. It’s a 20 minute ride from the house just to get to the main highway. The owner, Esther, was very easy to deal with and responded immediately with any questions we had. We would highly recommend this place and will be back!
