This was our 4th time here and it just feels so great returning. We love it every year. It is the perfect spot for our family. The house is cozy and has everything you need. The backyard is the best! Hours of endless fun! We can't say enough about this place. Looking forward to next year.

Very comfortable beds, they have everything you need.

We absolutely loved our stay in Hale Mauka! The cabin is roomy but cozy, beautifully decorated, and with extremely comfortable beds. The highlight for us, though, was the backyard. We have gone to the Tahoe Donner area for several years now to play in the snow with our children and grandchildren. The sledding in the backyard was the best of any place we’ve been!! Amazing! As was the space for building snow forts and snowmen and having friendly snowball fights. We have already reserved for next year and can’t wait to go back. 5 stars!!!

Great location with less than 5 minutes drive to downhill and cross country ski areas. This is a very complicated and high maintenance house. There are two stair cases to reach the front door (which you have to use at least two times a day to carry all your equipment and kids). Physically it’s very demanding to carry the logs to maintain the stove that heats the house. It seems that some of the items may have met their time limit during our stay - washer, hairdryer, tea kettle, front door lock. Although we’ve got help to fix those things, you don’t want to spend your vacation dealing with issues every day. If you’re coming in the winter, make sure you know how to operate wood stove.

The property was clean, comfortable and as advertised. This excellent host was very accommodating to ensure we did not have any concerns or needs during our stay.

Selected this property for the snow play for young children right outside. Comfortable accomodations for 5 adults and 2 children. Older property, but in good condition and clean. Good communication with homeowner. Fun time!

We'll look to stay here again--it's a great house in Tahoe Donner.

This is our 3rd time coming and we could not believe all the snow. We had a blast in the backyard and used the guest passes for skiing at Tahoe Donner, which was kid friendly. The house has everything you need and more. Ed is easy to communicate with and very accommodating. We are looking forward to next year. (Or Maybe late Spring with all this snow)

I stayed at this property during a huge snow storm and it worked out well. The driveway and roads are plowed daily. The pathway was mostly shoveled and the cabin stayed warm with the baseboard heaters and wood stove. The neighborhood is very quiet and it’s close enough to several restaurants that you can still eat out with snowy roads. The downside is you park at the bottom and have to carry everything upstairs and the wood stove needs a new door seal. The upside is very clean, comfortable couches, big TVs, great location and very nice and responsive owners.

The house is perfect for small families visiting Tahoe and the house was just as described. Communication was easy and straightforward.

We enjoyed our stay as the property had plenty of space for our family and lots of board games for the kids to try after a day of snow sports. It was great to be so close to Tahoe Donner. We were bummed our truck didn't fit in the garage as we had an after market bumper but there was parking in the driveway or the designated spot outside. As it was snowing, we got our workout in shoveling snow so it worked out. There was a snow plow service which cleared the driveway for us to get out in the morning which was nice. The property owners also provided prompt communication when we had questions. Lovely stay and highly recommend this property.

Overall, a good experience.

The sliding glass door to the back deck is covered in hand prints and smears. The hem of the curtains in downstairs bedroom is hanging loose and needs repair. The property is in need of the following main repairs for safety; The wooden hand rails for the steps up to the deck outside the front door are loose and wobbly. The bedroom floors upstairs and downstairs are squishy and noisy in areas when walking on them. Deck furniture is very worn. My husband reinforced one chair about to fall apart. All in all, this beautiful property needs some repairs and fixing up.

Comfortable home with everything we needed for our 5 night family getaway. Quiet and pretty area.

The house is well stocked and is in a convenient location, not too far from town or the freeway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The space was super kid friendly- our girls loved the bunk beds, puzzles and board games, and even tried out the PlayStation. The kitchen was very well outfitted, and we enjoyed many yummy meals. An easy, convenient location— we also loved the creek across the street!

We had a good time, the place is clean and spacious. Kids had a blast on the PlayStation. Good communication from owners .

We had a great stay. The property was perfect. Clean and cozy cabin. The bunk bed room was a hit with our kids. There are a ton of games for the kids and family to play with. The kids also enjoyed sledding in the back of the property. Also, the individual towels setup on each of the beds was a very nice touch. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying here again.

This was our second time coming. We are so glad we came back. I asked my 7 year old to write the review. He said his favorite parts were the sledding hill, making the snow fort, the kids bunk bed room and playing the board games (his favorite was twister). I loved it all too! Great place for 2 families to be comfortably. We didn't leave the house for days, the kids loved it! Adults loved the fully stocked house. Everything you forgot to bring is there. If not, Truckee is right there. Great location! Can't wait to go back.

We had a perfect weekend at Ed and Bernadette's cabin. There was just enough room for our two families (family of 3 plus a family of 4) and everything we needed was close at hand. We prepared all of our meals in the well-stocked kitchen, stayed cozy warm with the supplied firewood, and spent HOURS cruising the great sledding run in the backyard. Our boys couldn't get enough, and the grownups put in plenty of runs, as well. Ed and Bernadette were thoughtful and quick with their responses, and the instructions sent in advance were super clear. It was a perfect sledding adventure. One note for families traveling with kids of different ages and sleep cycles - sound travels through the house and all the bedrooms, so once one person is up, the rest will soon follow!

The property was very comfortable for 2 families. The house has everything you need. The kitchen and living areas are set up well and stocked with the essentials. The beds were comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay.

Our family spent a week in Truckee spending our days skiing and nights cooking and chilling in this home. This cabin is very rustic and cozy. The beds were VERY comfortable! The kitchen has limited counter space but we were able to make dinners every night. The living room was the perfect place to hang out after a full day of skiing; we would build a fire and relax on the cozy leather couches! I would definitely rent this cabin again.

Location was a bit further from Truckee and from the freeway than I expected, but then I had to drive my kids to day camps every day taking the freeway, so most renters probably won't mind that distance. On the plus side, it's in a nice quiet area, with a really nice hike along a creek accessible just down the street. It's also super close to a hiking/mountain biking/cross country skiing area. The house has plenty of space and is comfortable. We found the TVs a bit of a challenge to figure out, with the remotes and the cable etc, but eventually got them to work. The owner replied right back when I messaged him about where to hike in the area. Some basic info on that would have been helpful in the informational binder. All in all, a great stay!

Nice house for a vacation at Tahoe Donner.

Very nice location and great neighborhood. Place was clean. Had everything we needed for our trip. Loved the all the windows and enjoyed the large backyard; saw many deers run past.

This house worked well for our family's needs. We had plenty of space and the house is in a great location and close to the Tahoe Donner amenities. We used the tennis courts, main pool, and equestrian center. It was so nice to have these activities as options. The kitchen is small, but well stocked with quality cookware. Many essential items were stocked which was a welcome surprise (lots of toilet paper, paper towels, sponges, dish soap, laundry detergent). The inside of the house is a bit of an older feel, but it's cozy. It did get a bit hot in the house during the day (no air conditioning) but we weren't home much, so that was okay. There was a nice breeze in the evenings, so opening the windows helped. There are a good amount of stairs to enter the property. It was fine in the summer for our family, but something to be aware of. Our car did not fit in the garage with the car top carrier on, but we parked in the driveway and that was fine. Overall, solid house and we would stay again. The owners are AMAZING and communication before, during, and after our stay was great. We had an issue with accidentally ordering something from Amazon after we left (yikes!) and the owners were quick to respond and help us resolve the problem.

Deer! The words from our 2 year old when he saw deer for the first time, and the second time and the third time. After more than 1 year ‘under lockdown’ due to covid19, this house provided us with the calm , peaceful touch of nature that we needed. Waking up to the sound of blue jays, being a few miles from several beautiful hikes with the scenery of the mountains this is a place that will be part of our memories and for which we will do our best to return. We highly recommend this stay for families who want to feel at home away from home. Joshua Kane.

We had a great time in this well appointed cabin. There was lots for my 6 year old to do, from sledding in the backyard to games and puzzles galore. He said that he felt cozy and like he was at hone and I couldn't agree more. I loved the layout, it is perfect for 2 families. The location was great too.
