Our group had a great time. Beach, location of house and pool was amazing. The house was a little outdated and needed a facelift. Owner responded quickly with any questions or concerns.

We were very happy with this rental and this host. Don was thorough in the check-in and check-out instructions. The pool was amazing, well maintained, and spacious. This house is comfy with a relaxed beach feeling. Wonderfully decorated. The kitchen is fully stocked. You can make a feast or a quick sandwich. Beds were comfortable. The quilts provided are just enough if you feel chilly in the night. Hoping to stay again some day! Thank you Don for providing the perfect house for this friends vacation.

This is our 6th time vacationing in Emerald Isle, but our first time at this property. The owner was very responsive and helpful. The house was clean and inviting. Was so excited that there was such a nice selection of puzzles and board games for our kids. The pool was the hit of the week- our kids lived in it! Very nice to have the option to go to beach or pool. Will definitely be returning!

This is our second year staying at Shangri La and we will definitely be returning for a 3rd. Let me be very clear, the house isn’t fully updated with stone countertops and stainless appliances. It is, however, clean and well maintained. We don’t spend much time inside so this fits our needs perfectly. The view is absolutely amazing as you are right on the beach. We have stayed at 3 other homes in Emerald Isle and none have a pool that’s even close in size to Shangri La…it’s huge! Communication with Don was easy and he responded quickly to a couple simple questions during our stay. Nothing but positives to say about this property.

Property is located in a good location. It is clean and can walk right onto the beach. House has a pool that is a great addition to the beach. Owner is great to work with. We had a great time.

Just loved are vacation. The house pool and beach was great. House was clean as well as the pool. Location was fantastic could walk to shopping and restaurants! Family already asking if we can go back and how soon. Looking ahead to do it again. I think I found my spot on Emerald Isle!!!

We absolutely loved this beach house. The location and views are amazing. The pool was sparkling and so enjoyable! The home was clean and had everything we needed. Our favorite beach property in North Carolina! Clean, well maintained, well appointed, convenient location, and a lovely stretch of beach. Sand, sun, surf, pool, and friendly people. We had perfect weather! Even if there is a little rain, there is lots to explore on Emerald Isle. A wonderful spot to enjoy in this lovely area of the Atlantic Coast! Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay at this. It is a traditional beach house duplex. It was very clean with a charming beach decor. The big pool is amazing. It is in perfect condition, clean and sparkling. I would definitely stay here again.

We love staying at Don's place. This was our second time and we plan on coming back as long as he will have us! We rented both sides for our large family. The pool is amazing and loved hang out by it and the beach is only a few short steps away. This is truly a gem!!!

We were looking for a new rental place when we saw this one. We were well satisfied with the property. VRBO and the owner was great to work with. Property was clean and well kept and looks just like the listed pictures. Recommend this property for a great vacation.

Our family and friends had an amazing stay at the Shangri-La. It was perfectly located right on the beach within walking distance of the pier. The pool was huge and made a great second option when you wanted something different than the ocean. The property is accurately listed and is not a "luxury" home. That said, it is extremely clean and well maintained. The beds were very comfortable and linens were clean. Don was a great host and provided good checking/checkout instructions and was available when needed. Our entire group was 100% happy with the house and are already looking at dates for our return visit!

It is an older property with a lot of charm and space. Very clean upon arrival. The view is wonderful, area and location is great! Host response to any issues is immediate and accommodating. All appliances work, the appliances are older, absolutely adds to the charm. Kitchen is very well stocked. Only complaint about kitchen is dull knives. Not owners fault. Internet is slow, in that area, kind of expect that with internet. Again not owners fault. Pool is wonderful, very well maintained. Felt very comfortable while there. Absolutely a great place for a family vacation with family! Would absolutely stay at property again!

My husband and I were very impressed with the house, location, the heated pool, just everything. We loved it so much that while on vacation I texted the owner and asked him to pencil us in for the same week next year. It was just fantastic. The heated pool made all the difference. The house was clean and neat.

The Pool and the views here are wonderful! And we were very satisfied with this house once again. The house was exceptionally clean this year. We rented both sides this year. The furniture and beds are all very comfortable. This is not a new house but it is well maintained and in good condition. There has been a number of updates here since our stay two years ago but we were happy with this house even then. The location is the best in our opinion. Don texted us on Monday just to check in and see if everything was OK which was very thoughtful. We mentioned that one of the deck chaise lounges was cracked and Don's maintenance guy came over the same day with a new one! Love the new washing machine with the clear lid that was delivered the day we arrived.

Wonderful property with a great pool. Excellent location. Have stayed several years in a row and plan on many more.

This property was located close to the beach. It had everything that we wanted. We came for the beach and memories with family and that is exactly what we got.

We have stayed 2 years in a row and haven’t been disappointed! Don is upfront and reliable. The house and pool are taken care of very well. The environment is colorful, clean, and relaxing. We look forward to our next family vacation!

We were looking for a way to get away from the everyday stress of the current times. We had a wonderful stay. Lucked out with warm but not scorching days of sun on the beach, much time in the heated pool, and very nice neighbors in the other side of out duplex. The owner was 100% responsive to the few things about which we needed. The inside was mot fancy, but certainly clean and bright with great views of the ocean. Well worth the investment in a weeklong getaway! I would definitely consider renting again.

This property was everything we needed it to be plus a little more. We LOVED the location, LOVED the pool and most importantly we felt SAFE. Given the Covid situation, safety was important to us.

The house could use a better maintenance group. There was a stained sheet on one of the beds, stained towel, and dirty sheet left in one of the closets. The only well kept part of the property was the pool.

Wonderful vacation, just what we need. Location was great. The weather was beautiful. Being ocean front, and having access to a beautiful pool, made for a great vacation. Due to this year’s Pandemic, we did not want to venture from the property and, there was no need to. It had everything we needed and was 2 minutes from the Food Lion. Thank you!

This house was a huge disappointment besides the beach and pool. When we arrived, the one set of sheets was dirty and the towels were stained/dirty. Don did change them out but was unpleasant and tried to convince me to keep them by saying that they were just stained. The Tv wasn’t working correctly and when I contacted Don he said it worked fine and I am not doing it right (it was the batteries although he didn’t have any extras available) the next morning I was told that I was too much trouble as a renter and that he hoped not to hear from me again. The house has sustained major damage from age and the hurricane. There are water stains on the ceilings, holes in the lower level decking, broken chairs, doors that wouldn’t stay closed, windows that we weren’t “allowed” to open (lower master bedroom). There were large holes in multiple walls that had just been patched. One of the couch’s had multiple rips, there were moldy pillows in the closet. The deck swayed significantly and had rusted bolts his is not an issue of out of date kitchen- this is a house that doesn’t look like the listing. There was mold in the upstairs bathroom, the air filters were filthy and the laundry room had loose wiring and mold. We were fortunate to be able to spend a lot of time outside. The beach was great and the pool was lovely. If only we could have lived outside.

This was the worst experience I have had in a vrbo rental. The check in day started off with dirty towels and sheets (which the owner said were "just stained") and he did send over fresh towels and a set of clean sheets for my daughter. Since the towels and sheets were dirty, I was on alert for the quality of the house. After I asked the owner about an issue with the TV (the batteries were dead which he said couldn't be true) he sent me a terse text stating that he had NEVER had anyone complain like I did and he "hoped the week wouldn't continue like this" . I began to notice many serious issues- black mold in the upstairs bathroom and laundry room as well as various other places (my daughter with severe mold allergies ended up with a migraine) which does not match the assertion of a clean house on the listing. The upstairs deck moves so much (well over an inch) that I wouldn't allow anyone to go on the deck. There were holes in the floor under the main level in an area that was not locked or closed off, there were live wires and standing water in the laundry room. This is not just an issue of "we don't have granite". The foundation is problematic, the lower bathroom has a floor that is saturated with water underneath. This whole week was a disappointment and a very expensive mistake

I will vacation here again! Great place
