The only significant negative is lack of Internet connectivity. Also, no microwave. Having solar and battery backup was great!! When power grid went down, we still had lights. Although it is sometimes nice to disconnect, having the option ourselves is good. The cell service in the house was poor due to location. Having no WiFi or cell service in home truly made us "off the grid." We had to leave the house and walk toward beach to pick up cell service. When traveling with kids, this was tough because we could not be in contact with them when they "wandered" off. The home, physical location, and area were wonderful.

Myself and a group of seven friends came to Finca del Mar in July. We rented Los Pelicanos and the neighboring house, Casa Tranquila. Both houses were beautiful and very nice, and having the 2 neighboring houses made it feel like we had our own little village, especially since Pelicanos was two separate buildings, with a large outdoor table where we played board games every night. The homes in Finca del Mar would be nice by U.S. standards and they are quite luxurious compared to most of what you find in Nicaragua. These houses are just a 2 minute walk from Los Cardones along a shaded stone path where you might see the occasional passing Iguana. Los Cadones is an Eco Surf Lodge serving amazing food morning, noon, and night. The beach here is very beautiful and there are hardly any people on it. The busiest day at the beach had only about dozen people. But one of the best parts of any stay in Finca del Mar is dealing with Janelle, the property manager. She is incredibly attentive and friendly and always a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend a visit to Finca del Mar and the Los Cardones Surf Lodge.

A perfect week for our gang of 14 in three houses. Janelle and her crew take care of all the details to allow you to relax and enjoy. For those interested her husband Dan is the best fishing guide in the area. We've rented here twice and have found it to be as good as it gets for anyone looking for beach, surfing, and an escape from the daily grind.

Absolutely amazing. Almost a touch too cush, but we'll take it! Everything was great down to the board game selection and the great hosts! Janelle = da bomb!

This is my second visit to Finca del Mar and the main reasons I returned were because of the remote beaches (in May....the beach is deserted...so nice), great surf, great location next to the Los Cardones Eco SurfLodge but most importantly, the property manager Janelle is AMAZING. She make you feel comfortable/welcome no matter what time you arrive (and we arrived late). I encourage travelers to hire her services for shopping....well worth it. Los Pelicanos was a nice place to stay. Bed was super comfortable, kitchen well equipped. It was HOT and with no air conditioning that may scare some creature comfort Americans but we had a great time. We would recommend more fans and perhaps air conditioning to improve the property. We only used the main house so cannot comment on the other accommodations. Overall - a pleasant stay and the close proximity to Los Cardones is ideal.....dinner there every night, $20 massages daily, great surf lessons, and yoga.

A very well designed beach house. Huge shaded porches, spacious rooms, with enough space to give some privacy, the beach is just a short walk away. The furnishings are all built local, beautiful wood, and comfy. A big positive is that 99% of the house runs on SOLAR. The occasional power outages are not even noticed, other than that the Fans and lights still work!

The house is very well designed and equipped. In couple with three kids we had all the comfort we could dream of. The location is amazing, we enjoyed playing at the beach, horseback riding, surfing, yoga sessions, having great massages but also relaxing at home and cooking. The house being within Finca del Mar and 50 meters from Los Cardones allowed the kids to meet friends. It has been paradise for the whole family !
