Excellent beach home. My family had a wonderful time.

Property was perfect and the location was amazing since we arw a surf family.

Our family gathered at the Mermaid Cottage for a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing stay. We found it charming, comfortable and well equipped!

Absolutely beautiful place. Close to beach, quiet peaceful place. O now I wish I could have stayed longer our pups love to freedom of the fenced yard. Will be back soon.

Disappointing vacation rental!!!! Found floors to be filthy throughout the cottage, the bottom of our feet were literally black day 1 from walking around inside the cottage, bathrooms not the cleanest, cob webs on walls near bed in master, 2 dead roaches found in the hallway near back bath, and lastly had we known our view off the front porch was going to be of the 2 dumps directly across the street we certainly wouldn’t have booked!!!! We have booked thru VRBO for decades and never have felt so disappointed in a rental!! We had waited nearly 2 years for this vacation and quite honestly it’s so upsetting for us to reflect back on.

The Mermaid Cottage was a wonderfully charming house. The homeowner was very nice and communicated with us well. Our stay happened to fall during Hurricane Nicole and she made sure we were comfortable staying there during the storm. It was very windy and wet but we always felt safe. The beach is awesome in the wind!

My wife and I, son and daughter-in-law and their two children five and seven-year-old girls as well as one large dog Golden Greyhound mix... We all had a great time. The beach was easy access and the house was beautiful. The granddaughters appreciated the mermaid hunt and the dog the fenced in yard as well as easy access to long walks. We enjoyed the recommendations from the owners for restaurant choices. We all enjoyed the visit to fort Matanzas. We will be back!

The family really enjoyed our stay! The house was close to the beach and had all the amenities needed for a wonderful vacation. The dog was also super happy with the front yard and porch.

This house is great for many reasons, not in any particular order. 1. Clean 2. Pet friendly 3. Close to the beach 4. Plenty of amenities 5. Easy check-in The photos online fool you in a good way. The house was bigger than I expected. Front porch was great to sit on any time of the day and a nice back patio also.

Everything was great! It was our families first time staying and was surprised how well stocked the kitchen was to be able to cook full meals, only a short walk to beach and within a friendly neighborhood. Hurricane Ian occurred 2 days before we were booked and was skeptical if our trip would even happen but Deborah communicated well with us and made us feel comfortable about still visiting. I hope we are able to visit again.

This home was amazing. The location was absolutely perfect. The proximity to the beach was awesome. I liked that it was in a quiet neighborhood but easy access to everything. The house itself was clean and great space for everyone to have their space. I would recommend this to anyone and would love to stay again.

I wish we stayed longer to really enjoy the property, beach and surrounding St Augustine. We only stayed two nights and (personally) it was a lot of prep for that short time! I would suggest that if you have elderly guests traveling with you, take your car and drive to the beach. St Augustine beach is very, very wide and the distance from house to beach is a hike! Also, St Johns County offers FREE wheelchair rentals for beach riding. Overall, we had a nice visit. This place is great for longer term vacations.

The property is located at in a wonderful quiet neighborhood with easy beach access. The house was spacious and clean. We wish we could have stayed for longer than one night.

Everything was great

For the 2nd time, We stayed for a week in the charming Mermaid Cottage in the Butler Beach area For our family vacation. About 30 members of our family this time rented homes close to the beach for a week, as we have for almost every summer since 1960 . The Memaid Cottage is roomy, very well furnished, with a great design Including bathrooms and bedrooms at opposite ends of the house for privacy . The antique decorations and the garden Are very pleasing to look at for lengthy periods . The upper deck Is unique,with plenty of outdoor furniture, and has been a great place for family members to gather. All of The appliances are well maintained including the full kitchen and the washer and dryer in the garage. A gas grill and picnic area are also provided Adjacent to the garden with walkways. All of this and close proximity to Butler Beach and other beaches Make it our our favorite place now to stay in the Saint Augustine area, our favorite vacation area. Deborah, the owner, Is very pleasant and easy to communicate with and dedicated to maintaining the cottage at the highest level. We very much prefer the privacy and quiet of the cottage to condos with crowded elevators and facilities. The low traffic area is only block from the beach and from A1A, Which takes you with an a mile or 2 of groceries and restaurants. Nobody is paying me or has encouraged me to write write a positive review.. We just love the place and recommend it to anyone!

We had a wonderful return stay at the property. Lovely home, easy walk to the gorgeous beach. Everything we needed was readily available for an enjoyable stay for our family of five. A week wasn't long enough, and we're already thinking of our next visit.

The house was truly a home with a cozy feeling. The mermaid search was a nice activity for all of us. Would highly recommend this get away to others

Absolutely beautiful place. Deco was just perfect. Three grown People had the best time looking for mermaids. I so loved the patio garden. We will be back.

My family loved our stay at the Mermaid Cottage. It was well appointed and very clean upon arrival. We loved the furnishings, the artwork, the fully appointed kitchen, the rooftop deck, and the short walk to the beach….and of course, the Mermaid theme! Deborah was very attentive and responsive. This was our first visit to the St. Augustine area and we will definitely stay here again.

We arrived on husband’s Birthday to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary with whom we share with his brother & wife. All 6 of us (including two 19yr olds) had plenty of room & privacy. The layout of the house is great for 2 family’s. We loved everything about the cottage: the history, decor, comfy beds & furniture, etc. I could go on & on. And you don’t have to be a kid to enjoy counting all the mermaids, it was always a nice surprise when a different one pops out. Enjoyed the front porch (especially during a little storm which brought a full double rainbow right before our eyes!) and the upper deck was nice view and the garden in back is just beautiful. The short walk to beach is the cherry on top . Beach was perfect. We walked it every morning for sunrise and every evening catching beautiful sunsets also. Also got to see a couple of the tortoise walking by. Maybe next trip will be me & husband in The Pearl next door Or a girls trip at the Mermaid Cottage. Can’t wait! Deborah and George are great hosts.

It’s such a great house, well stocked kitchen and plenty of space. The 3 different outdoor spaces were fantastic. Easy walk to the beach. We had a nice time.

We rented this property for the week of our wedding. The moment we pulled up, everyone knew that we made the right choice for everyone who would be staying on the property. The location to the beach and to St Augustine was amazing! The property was very clean and bigger than expected. Ample parking for visitors and guests. Everything was labeled and information was readily available. The rooftop area was a favorite hangout spot. The front porch provided a great spot where we enjoyed a seasonal thunderstorm. We definitely will stay here again!

We loved our 3 weeks at the Mermaid cottage. The cottage was AHHH-MAZING! So close to the beach and such a quiet and convenient location. We spent more time in the cottage than we thought b/c it was so nice. So many places to congregate with the front porch, the back patio and the rooftop deck. We were also impressed at how well-stocked the kitchen was. We had everything we needed to cook in and we did a lot of that. We were also happy we got to bring our dog. It was so nice to have the fenced in front yard and he got his first beach experience which he loved! Another nice feature is that the two biggest bedrooms are situated on opposite sides of the house so, with 2 couples, we felt like we had plenty of privacy, each with our own bathrooms. We highly recommend it and would rent it again in a heartbeat!!!

Enjoyed our short stay at the lovely Mermaid cottage. Everything was clean and modern. Everything worked as it should and the wifi was fast and reliable. Beds were comfortable. Pets enjoyed the stay as well and enjoyed the short walk to the beach. Front yard was fenced in to allow the dog out at night to do his business. Could hear the waves at night, very peaceful and relaxing. Would stay here again. Communication from owner was great, just make sure you check your spam folder since the check-in messages were being sent to mine and there was some confusion on my end.

We had great stay . Owners were awesome when helping us with a challenge we had.. We try book for return stay before left but The MERMAID was already book. We will keep trying.
