This is a beautifully maintained bay front cottage. Gorgeous views, great/comfortable furnishings, and close to Hog Island Oysters! The hot tub is also perfect for two and a wonderful way to wrap up the day. Close to lots of good trails, kayaking and eye-popping drives. It truly is a perfect getaway!

What is there to say about this home that hasn’t already been said? It’s truly a little piece of paradise and you couldn’t get closer to the water if you were on a boat. Comfy bed too! This was our second time here and we’ll be back again in the future.

Securing the property was easy, the owners provided very clear information, and the place was as advertised. It poured the entire time we were there but the house was a cozy place to ride out the storm.

Our second visit within a few months. We love visiting Point Reyes and this delightful place puts us close enough to do that but also right on Tomales Bay which we love. With Tony’s Seafood and Hog Island Oysters practically next door we are well fed as well.

Very well-appointed cottage right on the water with 180 degree views of Tomales Bay and the Pt. Reyes penninsula. Have stayed in the property multiple times and already looking forward to my next one!

We love hiking Point Reyes and eating oysters. Great location to base for both (Tony’s Seafood one mile away). The home is large and you feel like you are in an upscale houseboat. Beautiful nautical decor everything you need for a stay. Not for children as back deck not child safe.

Gorgeous, well appointed private cottage right on - in some places over - the water. Fantastic views through all the windows overlooking the Bay - watching birds, boaters and changing tides. We had a wonderful time - the deck lounge chairs and hot tub were wonderful. Great restaurants, fresh oysters & artisan cheese are all just a short distance away. We had a wonderful stay!

We loved our stay here. It was the perfect get away from the valley heat. The house (Admiral’s Quarters) was lovely and so inviting. We can’t wait to stay there again!

I loved all the wood in BR and how there were built in drawers. Houe was so bright. Beautiful deck off lovely living room. Loved the huge view of ocean, could sit there forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very relaxing and quiet property on Tomales Bay.

This is a fantastic property. Once you arrive, you do not want to leave. From the beautiful flowers that greet you in front to the relaxing views of the water in the back. Small details throughout made our stay enjoyable. Really appreciated the binoculars to see wildlife! Loved the sunsets from the back deck. We hiked at Point Reyes National Seashore all three days and this is an excellent spot to stay if that is what you want to do.

Enjoyed listening to the waves crash below the house. Spent the mornings in the hot tub looking at the bay. After the day of exploring the the many sights and excursions it was nice to come back to a fully stocked home base with an amazing deck to watch the sun fade away.

Such a lovely place to stay. The view is to die for. We caught crabs off the pier. Soaking in the hot tub with the amazing view is so relaxing. I highly recommend.

This property is exactly what we needed for a long weekend of relaxation and recharging. The location is the perfect jumping off point to explore Point Reyes park, enjoy some awesome seafood or run into Sonoma county for some wine tasting. While the pictures of the property are spectacular, it's not until you're inside that you truly appreciate the great lengths that the owners went to to make this feel like a cruise ship, it's really a lot of fun picking out all the little details. We absolutely love this area and now we have a go to property for our next stay.

As promised - terrific property literally on the water. Well located, walking distance to two different oyster restaurants. It was very easy to check in, really enjoyed our stay and we will be back.

This was my third visit to The Mermaid House. I truly love it! It's a very special property that is just wonderfully fun to stay in and so relaxing. We live in San Francisco and in a 1.5-hour drive, you are totally transported to magical Point Reyes. Walking to The Marshall store is the best, watching sea lions in the bay, hiking the trails nearby, visiting the adorable town of Point Reyes Station, spending every free moment in the hot tub, star gazing at night.... yes! I will be back. Thank you Fred and Karen for sharing your amazing property and being such wonderful hosts.

We had a wonderful stay at the Admiral’s Quarters in the Mermaid House. It was lovely to be right on Tomales Bay. The suite has a delightful decor by the owners and is well set up for comfort and convenience. The large windows on the bay side bring excellent light into the space, even on a foggy day (we visited in December).

This, our second visit to the Mermaid House, was every bit as enjoyable and peaceful as the first visit 2 years ago. The cottage is so tastefully and intriguingly decorated, with all many of nautical items. The view of the bay every morning (the house is literally ON the bay) was such a joy, and we had some award-winning sunsets! Mermaid House is very close to very good hiking and walking areas (Marconi Center, ;;Millerton, several others), as well as the town of Pt. Reyes Station, just a short drive south. Our favorite, always, is the Marshall Store, juust down the road, for oysters! But we fully enjoyed cooking in the cottage, too, and had our Thanksgiving Turkey there. We highly recommend the Mermaid house to any who want a cozy cottage with all the amenities on Tomales Bay, for a real getaway. By the way, Fred is most accommodating, responding quickly to our couple of small questions. He also was most agreeable to our postponing, due to Covid, an earlier planned visit. He and the Mermaid House are tops!

Perfect location right over Tomales Bay in Marshall. The unit has huge picture windows, plenty of space for two, and the nautical-themed decor is just shy of kitsch. We arrived in a much-needed rainstorm, but didn't mind just hanging out in the house, watching the Bay and the weather, munching pastries from Route One (highly recommended), reading and playing music. Kitchen is well equipped and the dining area large, so it's easy to do meals in-house. It is so nice to have a comfortable home base in the area.

This property is unique and special, it is a privilege that the owners share it. We will definitely return.
