We really enjoyed our stay at Exceeding Expectations. The house was very clean and check-in was a breeze. We would definitely stay here again, if given the chance.

We had 4 adults and 4 young children in our party & I was so impressed with this property. It truly felt like home away from home. Communication with the property managers, Montana & Bruce, was easy & they were very responsive both before our trip and during. Location is in a quiet neighborhood. There’s restaurants, gas, & a grocery store about 15 minutes away. Everything was so clean and well-maintained, and there were thoughtful touches & so many amenities provided throughout the home. The fridge was stocked with lots of condiments and breakfast items, plus some drinks to start us off. There was a nice selection of coffee and tea, plus sugar and nondairy creamer. As Hawaii locals we appreciated that shoyu, and a rice cooker (and rice) were provided. We loved the screened patio area right outside the kitchen. It was a perfect spot to sit in the morning and enjoy coffee. WiFi access was awesome as our cell service wasn’t always that great, and the kids were able to watch their fave Netflix shows on the smart tv or their tablets when we were just chilling for the night. We had several devices using the WiFi without any slowdown in service. Overall this property exceeded our expectations & my kids are already asking when we can come back! We will definitely recommend this property to our friends visiting Hilo & book again ourselves in the future. Thank you Montana & Bruce!

We have stayed at this home 4 times now. Every single time, the house is spotless, bottled water and basics like eggs, pancake mix, rice, coffee pods and condiments are available for us to use. AC in every room makes for a comfortable stay, and there are also fans that keep the air nicely circulating. We noticed the mattresses were all new and very comfortable! The property is beautiful. My favorite thing each morning is to sit outside in the screened in lanai with my coffee and listen/watch all the beautiful birds that love to hang out. Add to all that how kind, helpful and friendly Bruce and Montana always are and you can be sure we will be back. Book early because we notice this is a popular place to stay (and we can see why!)

Such a relaxing place to be. I wish we had more time to spend here. If you want a place for peace and quiet and convenient to Hilo and the volcano, this is it. Spacious house, clean, and lots of nice little surprises for you. We loved it.

It was a dream in this apartment. We felt very comfortable. Since the apartment was relatively central, we were able to drive to many of the sights. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time. Mahalo fir everything 🤗

Our family stayed in two different VRBO's while on the Big Island and it was our first time using a VRBO. We ALL agreed that Bruce and Montana's place was the most enjoyable (despite our other VRBO being walking distance to some stores and the beach on the west side of the Island). The atmosphere was awesome, it felt like home away from home. The kids loved playing outside in the yard and we got a chance to bbq with the grill (not sure what kind of wood it was that we used but it gave our food excellent flavor). At the end of our trip, we all agreed (even the teenagers), that we would prefer to stay here our entire trip next time and just drive to the west coast beaches! If or should I say WHEN we come back... We'll be staying here! Thanks Bruce and Montana for sharing your beautiful home and property with our family!

We were a group of 8, four generations ranging from infant to 87 years old. This place had plenty of space, was accessible for our members with more limited mobility, and kooked exactly like the photos. We greatly appreciated the AC units throughout the house. Although a bit of a commute to sightseeing spots, its peaceful in the country and a gas station & some food options we're within a reasonable distance. The host stopped while were in the yard & invited us to try some unique fruit on the tree. Very relaxing & comfortable location!

Fantastic house in a quiet neighborhood. All of the routine amenities were provided in addition to smaller personal touches- water cooler, condiments, Hawaiin beverages, and beach gear. It was a great space that met all of our needs and exceeded our expectations. One of the best VRBOs we’ve stayed at!

This condo was perfect for us and we loved it! Perfect location to go and explore the volcano park.

Great location, great unit! Very clean and all the supplies we needed were right there. We thought location was a little more secluded, but pleasantly surprised that it was not. The host were awesome with quick communication! We had not planned on needing to do laundry on this trip, but certain excursions necessitated it. The washer and dryer were very efficient, newer models. it was our first time traveling with another couple and the house layout made privacy easy. Beds were comfortable and plenty of amenities in the kitchen for all our meal needs! Thank you for your lovely home!

My family and I enjoyed our stay in this home on the Hilo side of the island. Bruce and Montana are super nice, and easy to communicate with. The house was perfect for my family of 5. Very clean and nice furnishings. Love that it’s tucked away in a more “rural” neighborhood. Thanks for a great stay!

The house is just as listed and very clean. Comfortable beds, nice kitchen, nice couches and TVs. It is far from Hilo and there is tons of traffic. Not a lot of great food options on this side of town so keep that in mind when driving around. Also pillows, the pillows are super bad and only one per person is just not acceptable. We were quite disappointed and it definitely affected everyone’s sleep. Everything else is top notch but most importantly everyone needs a good night sleep.

We loved that it was close to Hilo but removed from the hustle and bustle of town. The space had everything we needed and plenty of yard space with hammock to enjoy the outside. Close to Shipman’s beach, grocery stores, restaurants and everything you need when staying in Hilo area. The owners were quick to answer questions, help with questions and made our stay enjoyable.

Nice and quiet. Be ready for the roller coaster ride to the house. haha

We had a wonderful stay. The property is lovely with plenty of privacy. The house is spacious, clean, and comfortable. Plenty of supplies for anything you need from kitchen stuff to beach stuff. A great stay!

We enjoyed our stay at the house. The location was good, close to the beach, hiking, volcano and the winery. Our hosts were wonderful and always responded to our text messages in a timely manner.

Great start to our Hawaiian vacation! My family of 4 stayed here with my sisters family of 4. Kids ranged from 3-10. Great location. Quiet except for the frogs. AC was cold. Plenty of dishes and cookware. The Ninja blender was great. Bottled water was tasted fine. Owners filled up our empty jugs for us. Pretty rainy but to be expected. House was clean. There’s itty bitty bugs in the bathroom drawers from the humidity. Stocked with snorkel gear and beach towels but the beaches on this side of the island are pretty rocky. The cooler was the cloth bag kind and really stinky. Buy a styrofoam cooler from ACE hardware—worked phenomenally! The orchard was not what we expected. It was the main reason we picked this place. Perhaps we were in the wrong season. We only found a couple varieties of lemons. This place would be a 5-star if the orchard was as good as described. Brought road bikes. Found great places to ride. Some gravel roads. One of our guys rode to the top of Mauna Kea! Lots of glass and debris on the roads so bring extra tubes.

We loved our stay at this home. Plenty of parking for our 3 vehicles with our large group and the home was simply delightful, much bigger than it looks in pictures. All the provided gear was so nice to have available, snorkel gear, beach/cooler bags, towels, chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, all very convenient. Kitchen was well stocked with all the cooking essentials and having a washer dryer was so nice for the stay. Wifi worked great for catching up on a few work items and the host was quick to respond when we needed water and was very pleasant to work with. The fresh fruit on the property was wonderful and our kids loved roaming the yard in search of lizards! Would absolutely stay here again!

This is a great place if you looking for easy and efficient. They have everything you need and make everything very easy for you! We will rent it again on future trips!

My family very much enjoyed our stay. The manager communicated well, it was clean and thoughtfully stocked. We enjoyed hosting dinners with our local family, relaxing in the serenity of Paradise Park while still being close enough to Hilo to enjoy the beach and shops. We hope to stay on our next visit.

House was very clean, air conditioned, plenty of beach supplies & stocked with everything we needed. Within 15-20 minutes to grocery, restaurants & activities. Would definitely stay again!

We stayed here for 3 nights while we were seeing Hilo. It is about 20 minute drive to the town of Hilo, but that makes it very quiet and relaxing. The host was nice to let us know about the fruits they have in the back yard and we definitely enjoyed their oranges! The house was very spacious for 6 of us, and had most of the things we needed. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The house was so wonderful, great space, was super clean. Laundry room was nice to have! The property was beautiful and so peaceful.

Montana and Bruce obviously take great pride in ownership. The home was spotless and exceptionally well equipped, including may unexpected extras, such as beach towels, boogie boards, beach chairs,... The home is in a beautiful rural location; fruit trees all over the property and we were serenaded every evening with an abundance of bird songs and frogs. Very Hawaiian. We enjoyed our stay immensely and was perfect for 2 couples. Lots of space. Rooms were separated, 2 bathrooms,... We'd highly recommend considering this property for a stay in the Hilo area.

Spacious, clean and comfortable beds. Everything you need is there. Nice touch with fresh fruits when we arrived. A little far from Hilo but definitely worth it! Would come back anytime!

Overall an enjoyable stay. Easy to check in and out. A plus with washer dryer and full kitchen. Kid friendly. Montana and Bruce showed Aloha to our Ohana. Would stay here again.

Spacious and clean. A ridiculous amount of fruit trees on the property that the very friendly owners encourage you to sample. It's a bit of a hike to Hilo (that is accurately advertised)

This property provided us with a nice place to relax after some long days of exploring the beauty of the Big Island. We enjoyed our stay. Mahalo!

We had an awesome stay

The home was beautiful. It was so clean and well taken care of. The yard was beautiful with all the fruit trees. The owners brought us lychee from one of their trees. The place was perfect for our family. Plenty of room for everyone and the AC was so nice. We would absolutely stay here again!
