I love an old school beach house, especially one on the beach! House had some charm but for our group, it didn’t quite work. Too cold to get much use out of porch so fitting 3 families into 1 living room with 1 couch wasn’t great. Kitchen also cramped and no indoor dining space. Deck is a bit crumbly and ready to give you some splinters. Didn’t like renting through Vrbo but getting passed to a rental company and having to fill out more contracts.

Chequers had plenty of bed space and a beautiful wrap around porch (though dunes obstruct beach views from porch - disclosed in description beforehand.) Common areas were a challenge for our larger group, but again, we knew this going in as it's a 1940s cottage. Dining is either around the counter or on the porch. As we live in the area we brought a 6' banquet table and folding chairs to add to the existent porch table and that allowed us to eat together. Not too hot for us, as it was in the shade and in June. It might be a challenge later in the summer. We enjoyed having easy access to the beach and to downtown Wrightsville Beach. Parking is a slight challenge (as it always is at WB) with some jostling for street spots (2 street passes are included with the rental and the house has 2-3 spots, depending on car size.) Kitchen is well stocked.

Everything was fine we love this property the only problem we encountered with that there was no light over the stove and the clothes dryer did not work. We would stay again if the dryer is fixed.

The house was in the perfect location on the beach with an amazing wrap around porch and a quick walk to the beach. All of the beds were comfy and there was plenty of space for 6 adults. The check-in process was frustrating. I called days ahead to ask for a 3pm check-in instead of 4. The property management company assured me that they would let me know as soon as the house was ready. I arrived at three and asked in person, was told that the house had been cleaned but not inspected so I could not enter (I already had the key code but was following the rules!) I asked to at least have the two parking passes but they wouldn't release them until 4. I went and sat on the road outside the property and nobody ever came for the awaited "inspection". The parking passes were released at 4 and we entered the property, the cleaning card stated that the property had been cleaned a full week before! An hour may seem trivial (after a 6 hour drive), but it just seemed like the rental agency was being difficult. I would however DEFINITELY rent this property again!

The location is great and the house is large and comfortable. Plenty of room for everyone inside and out on the porch. Light and bright upstairs. Only thing missing was a grill which would have been useful since the kitchen is tired. We would definitely stay there again!

The location and amount of rooms was great but the house was dingy and gross. The bathrooms were grimy and the kitchen had dirty dishes in the pantry. The coffee maker and dryer both both. The handle for the freezer popped straight off. The house needs to be updated and cleaned properly!!!

The furniture was worn and stained- not very inviting. There are no cabinets to put any food in, so the counters were cramped. They also lacked plastic plates and cups for eating outside. We did enjoy the comfortable rocking chairs for sitting on the porch.

Location was excellent. Plenty of room and beds. We had no problem with this old house but it needs some maintenance and cleaning.
