Beautiful view and property!!

We were so excited for our vacation at the place initially since it is near to the ocean but it didn’t last for long. Two days before our visit they mentioned that the air conditioning was not working and we faced a lot of trouble without having it during our stay. As we were near to the ocean, there was so much humidity and air conditioning is always better to have. The floor is so sticky and not clean. Refrigerator doesn’t work properly too. Except for the ocean view, very terrible experience.

This property is located halfway between Kailua-Kona and Captain Cook. The condo has plenty of space and pretty updated. We did purchase the A/C in advance (definitely worth the money). Our flight was really delayed and we arrived well after check in hours. They close at 5:00. The A/C did not work the first night, but we survived with the ample fans throughout. Maintenance did a great job fixing the A/C the next day and then it worked great the rest of our stay. The bathrooms and kitchen are nice and had what we needed. There is a drip coffee maker. The view is incredible. We spent breakfast and evenings when we were home enjoying the ocean view. There are three pools, including one with an ocean view. The front desk was kind and helpful. In order to avoid ants, keep all of your food in the fridge or cabinets and wipe down the counters. I would recommend staying here with the A/C.

This is a nice rental. Our main feedback for management is we would hope for more advance checkin instructions- it’s very stressful to have a place booked and then no idea what to expect on arrival till the last minute. Especially when we were arriving after hours! Future renters should know there is 24 hour security that can help but we were not certain how we would get in so we were nervous until the instructions came through. We were disappointed that for the very steep price, AC is an additional daily charge- it was very hot when we arrived and we slept badly the first night because of it. Honestly though, AC is probably not usually necessary for this unit due to the strong breeze- the unit cooled out by morning and we were comfortable without AC the rest of our stay. The set up was comfortable and location amazing right on the water. It has good staples like fins, buggy boards, coolers for day use. Pools and grounds are well maintained. Staff was friendly. This is the downstairs unit and we had a loud guest above us on the lanai, but only noticed this one night. Other that that is was very peaceful, really wonderful location, and a great stay. Mahalo!

OVERPRICED. I cannot stress that enough. Air conditioning is an EXTRA expense! When we made the reservation, the paperwork said it was included and they wouldn’t turn it on for us without paying more, it requires a KEY to operate. Only ONE FAN was provided, the kids had to sleep with ice packs to keep cool at night. Hot water in the shower took 10 minutes to heat up. They couldn’t make me a gate entry key so I had to call security every time I wanted to enter. Kids couldn’t play in the pool past seven thirty because of possible noise, but the pool closes at ten. Ice and water in refrigerator was broken. The front desk does NOT answer the phone, I called 7 times to try to get a late check out and never got a response. We didn’t get our check in instructions until an hour past check in time, after we had emailed and called several times. Do not recommend.

The location of the condo at the south end of Kona and being oceanfront was wonderful. The pictures are accurate and the space is really lovely, comfortable, and clean. The local artwork is a great touch! The beds are comfortable too. It was an incredible treat to wake up and see the sunrise light up the waves and hear the surf against the rocks. Evenings were even nicer, sitting on the lanai watching the sunset. the complex is quiet too and the amenities like the pools and tennis courts were well kept. The landscaping is also beautiful, we had plumeria trees blooming as we walked to the front door. While this unit does not have AC, ceiling fans and windows did a fine job moving the air around and keeping the unit fresh and cool. As with any place in Hawaii, bugs are a challenge. The kitchen had a few issues with tiny ants. We quickly learned to keep all food in the cupboards or refrigerator, even fruit, and thoroughly clean the counters throughout the day. The Dryer is broken and needs repair. The master bath is handicap accessible which is great, but it could use some maintenance on the bench seat due to the salt air and mineral rich water. Despite these few issues, I would return to this condo again and again, it is just beautiful!

One star. Unable to explain why because VRBO says I am advertising or promoting other businesses or services (which I in no way am). I have tried for three months to submit this review, rewritten multiple times. Message me for details on why they deserve one star I guess? Don’t stay here.

We were only here for 3 days but were very happy with the place. Would recommend.

We have two teenagers and this was a great location for our family. The shared spaces (pools) are really nice. We had some issues with check-in and the place not being ready (we checked in late at night so had to deal) but they were quick to rectify the next day.

This location and property were perfect for our first trip to the big island. Right on the water watching the waves crash on the lava rocks while we had breakfast, sipped our coffee on the patio and planned our day. Everything was just incredible. We will stay here again next time if available.

The view in this condo is nothing short of amazing. If you stay on the deck, you will be very pleased. The rest of the unit really needs work. The condo could use a good deep clean, there were areas that made us very uncomfortable with how dirty they were. There were ants all over the kitchen when we got there and several areas hadn’t been cleaned prior to our arrival. If you check in after 5 pm, you will not have access to the air conditioning and the condo can get very warm. You need a key to turn the unit on and you have to pay for the air by the day so be aware. We never received updates or info from the complex after our reservation was made like we did from the other places we booked on VRBO. The communication was poor overall. I had to reach out to them regarding payments and with questions on what they needed due to COVID restrictions. Upon check-in, I was asked to provide things they told me I didn’t need to worry about before they would give me gates keys and the air conditioning keys. I would not stay here again and it’s a shame because the area is spectacular.

This complex is located off Alii Drive so it's convenient without the noise. We stayed in an oceanfront unit & it was amazing. You can't get any closer. AC is available for added price but worth it. Unit had beach towels, ice chest, beach toys. The complex is gated. The oceanfront pool has a great view. Grocery & Long's drug store is up the road- 3 minute drive. The touristy part of Alii Drive about 15 minutes drive. There's Safeway, Target & Costco all between 20 - 30 minute drive. Condo unit was clean & TV had Netflix etc....

We were so sad to leave this AMAZING place. What a piece of heaven. The entire unit is so tastefully decorated! The view was spectacular and the condo was so bright and airy. We will definitely be back.

We loved our stay in unit 2002 at Kanaloa at Kona. We have stayed in several units on that property before and it's definitely a favorite when on the Big Island. Previous reviews mention an outdated oven/stove that has been replaced and works great. We cooked all our meals in and felt the condo was well supplied with everything we needed. It is also stocked with beach chairs, boogie boards and coolers which is always nice. The privacy and views at this particular unit are stellar! Being March we saw a lot of whale activity from the lanai, spinner dolphins were spotted as well. It's a short walk to the Sheraton at night to view the manta rays also. Our only suggestion and in no way did it effect our stay was there is a nice Bosch dishwasher in the unit but it is in desperate need of a rinse aid. We opted to hand wash the dishes because the dishwasher looked a little rough. Again though this was just a personal preference and in no way hindered our stay. Great unit! Would definitely stay there again!

This is a lovely spacious condo. It has been renovated and was spotless. The view of the ocean is wonderful. It has everything you will need. Very much enjoyed our stay. Just one note for potential renters: if you are looking for the name of the internet network and the password, it is taped to the Apple TV device on the shelf under the TV in the master BR. It was a bit hard to find at first, so we thought we would pass on this tip.

A very nice condo with a spectacular location overlooking the Pacific. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai watching the whales and sunsets. The condo was very clean and comfortable with all of the amenities you will need for your stay on The Big Island.

This property was a great location. Really nice with two large bedrooms and two bathrooms. Binoculars, boogie boards, beach chairs, towels, etc. were supplied. Cupboards were loaded with dishes, utensils, dishwasher and clothes soaps. Washer and dryer and dishwasher worked well. The lower rating for cleanliness was for a general dustiness over the kitchen counters and appliances. It didn't seem unclean other than dust. The lower rating for accuracy of online listing was for the final cost. The property had a per night price;however, at checkout resort fees, cleaning fees, and taxes doubled the cost. This was my first time booking through VRBO and possibly I didn't understand that this is common. Also, we only stayed two nights, and those fees would be diminished over a longer stay. Both families that stayed here wished that we had booked the unit for a longer time.

The positive: the location is fantastic and the condo complex is beautiful. The The condo is right on the ocean so the view from the lanai is spectacular. Kanaloa is a wonderful complex; lovely grounds, very nice staff and great pool areas. Right in Keauhou near the harbor and shopping. The beds and furniture are very comfortable and the unit was very clean. What needs help: the kitchen and other areas of the condo are badly in need of updating. The stove is very old and doesn't function well, and causes the circuits to trip when you have the oven on and want to use a burner ( we also had to hunt for the circuit box which was not an easy task - had to call security who informed us it was behind the hall picture). There is one lower window near the lanai that unbeknownst to us didn't have a screen. This allowed mice to get in but a huge thank you to the maintenance crew who loaned us a storage cooler so we could secure our bread and snacks. The ceiling fan in the master bedroom barely works. The flooring throughout the unit needs to be repaired or replaced, many areas where it is uneven and there are gaps along the walls and baseboard. The kitchen faucet needs to be replaced ( it doesn't fully nest after extending it and just hangs). The blinds are very difficult to operate - not sure if they need to be replaced, it could also be due to the salt air which is understandable, but very difficult to open and close. Overall, we had a great time but want to provide this feedback in the hope that some updating could turn this vacation rental into a very special place.

Unbeatable view and location, probably closest condo to the ocean. The weather is hard on everything oceanfront so understandably shows that. Beach use causes light colored furniture to appear like it could use an upholstery cleaning, The main lanai vertical blinds are jammed due to presumably rust in the lining. Miss matched and poor selection of kitchen eating utensils, only three normal size mugs, only two wine flutes and no wine glasses..Not enough towels. Beds are comfortable and air conditioner does work and probably worth the extra charge. Difficult to cook on this dated stove, The kitchen was functional but not a delight .Investing $1000 on an updated larger TV with some type of speaker system would be a plus. The complex itself is very nice and traffic for family. We rented three different condos for this event, This unit has the best view and superior decor although above the price of the others probably worth it. The problems I mention are easy fixes , thus a four star review from me.

My family stayed at this townhouse-2002 for six nights. It was very comfortable and nice. We loved the kitchen and cooked breakfast every morning. The home has everything you need. Beautiful view out the back patio door. We watched dolphins swim by every morning. Grocery store and restaurants are nearby. Also, very friendly staff to help you with anything you might need.

Lovely setting, well appointed condo in a convenient location. The pools closed a little early, the dryer in the unit didn't work as well as expected and there were some other minor maintenance items we submitted to property management upon our departure but, overall, the place was great. We enjoyed watching the waves crash on the lava rocks, dolphins playing in the waves and beautiful sunsets all from the balcony. The grounds were well maintained and the unit was spacious and very comfortable.

My son and I stayed at this property for two days. We checked in after the resort office had closed and the staff was very accommodating. The property was clean, and much nicer than the pictures reflected. We loved the oceanfront location, as well the convenience of being close to shopping and restaurants. We did cook breakfast each morning and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. We did opt to pay extra for the air conditioning. If you happen to be there when it is hot, I would recommend this option. This is the perfect property for both couples and families.

The Condo was very nice. The upgrades the owners did to the bathrooms were nice. The Master bathroom was incredible. The unit was furnished nice with very comfortable beds. The location of the unit right on the beach could not have been better! The response to our mechanical issues was good. We lost the stove and the internet on Monday of our stay. Unfortunately for us, we cooked every meal in. The resort provided a portable oven, but a portable hot plate would have been more helpful. The internet was repaired after the GM replaced the router. I will stay there again!
