Check in an check out process was extremely easy. The privacy and view were perfect. We enjoyed the canoe, kayaks, and paddleboards. The water was a little too chilly for much swimming but my kids enjoyed splashing around on the warmer days. We caught some nice fish, read in the hammock and on the patio, and completely relaxed. Just what we were looking for!

We also enjoyed the property owners interesting souvenirs and photos from his travels. I wasn't impressed with the cleanliness of the cabin considering the additional cleaning fee, that may be something the property owner needs to discuss with the property manager. And if suggestions for updates are taken into consideration, I would recommend replacing the carpet in the living room.

The cottage is cozy, but the main attraction here is Upper Chateaugay Lake, which is beautiful. The property is right on the lake, shaded by pine trees, with multiple docks/platforms, and a lean-to for different views in different types of weather (it's in the mountains, so the weather can change very quickly). The sunsets in particular are stunning--different every night, and they seem to last for hours. The location is very remote, so good for folks who like wildlife, swimming, hiking, and boating of all kinds. Water access isn't as easy as it might be, as you'll need to carry them up and down stairs (and there is nowhere to tie them up in the water), but once you've got them in there are lots of places to explore around the lake. Bring water shoes as the shoreline is rocky. There are two grills (gas and charcoal) and a large picnic table for outdoor dining. There are neighboring houses on both sides; one is hidden by a fence, and the other oriented in a different direction, so we weren't overly conscious of them, except on the weekends, when they got quite noisy; happily, weekdays were beautifully quiet. Watersports on the lake can also get loud (jet-skies, speed boats, etc.). But all told, we loved our stay!

We had a great time visiting "The Anchor." The cabin and the property were beautiful; the tranquility and the views were fantastic! The only concern we had was when we arrived with our pontoon boat, we found there was no place to tie-up. Joe, the owner, was understandably anxious that we not tie up to his deck or raft, as they're not equipped to anchor a boat, especially if a storm should arise. He said when people ask, he makes this clear. It never occurred to us to ask, we supposed that many/most people spending a week at the lake would have a boat. My only suggestion to Joe w/b that he mention "no boat tie-up" in the description of his property. Except for that one surprise, "The Anchor" was ideal for us, and if sometime in the future it could accommodate a boat, we'd love to come back!

The outdoor spaces were perfect!

The cottage is in the perfect location! The lake is gorgous and there is an expansive dock system to enjoy the waterfront property. There was some rain and wind during our stay, but the lean-to provided shelter to sip wine and enjoy the views. The cottage has everything you need to enjoy the remote Adirondacks. I would definately recommend this place!! Ps- I saw a porcupine on the road to cottage!!!

This cabin is a perfect place to get away from it all. The view is to die for and the owner has definitely put great care in utilizing the property to its greatest potential to enjoy the outdoors. Plenty of kayaks and paddle boards to get out there as well. Best time is the morning and evening as the wind really picks up through the main part of the lake mid day. The cabin is perfect for a small family. The flow of the space was nice and comfortable. My son loved his built in bed and I loved waking up to the views of the water each morning. From the pictures, I was a little worried about the dining area and family room being too small but they are perfect ... Windows facing the water and a fireplace that was really the big winner in the rainy days we had. We loved playing uno around the coffee table each night. Oh and all the decorations around the house from the owners travels, awesome! Also just to note, I had to log into a few meetings mid week for work and had no problem doing video conferences with the WiFi. As Joe says, this is NOT like the other ‘big’ lakes in ADK but it was exactly what I was looking for ... tranquility, sunsets, water fun ... all in a perfect spot to enjoy all that northern ADK has to offer. Some pointers - local corner store does have basics and they were great there - for bigger runs, definitely grab any supplies needed driving in from Saranac. Owlyout was a good local place to eat. Definitely check out the windmill farm. My vote is a hot tub and double shower head in the shower for upgrades next year Joe! :) Thank you for sharing your property, it was truly outstanding.

Beautiful view, house is super clean. We had a wonderful stay. The property owner was very helpful during our stay with any questions we had. It’s a bit windy mid day for going out on the lake but early morning and early evening it’s just gorgeous! Would definitely stay there again!!

The place was great! It's location is great if you don't want to be near anything and just get away (just bring your food with you). The house is very nice, with everything you need there. It was very clean; however, there was a mouse and several ants even though our food was all sealed up. Not a big deal, since the rest was near perfect!

We had a great time the camp was better than expected..... Would like a boat dock next time... Thank you! Would love to make a yearly event!

This was our first time in the area (from southern Ontario) and we really enjoyed our stay. The cottage had everything we were looking for including location, amenities, water activities, views and privacy. We also enjoyed the small town of Lyon Mountain including hiking and talking with locals but also really enjoyed going to Lake Placid and Burlington for day trips.

Very lovely cabin & property. Weather was good allowing us to take advantage of kayaking, swimming and paddle boarding. Plenty of places to sit and read and take in the views & sunsets. A great time was had by all!!!
