We came with extended family, 10 total including 2 teens and 2 Grammies Kurt was extremely helpful from the time we booked to the time we left! He gave several suggestions for excursions and places to visit. He answered all of my questions quickly. The house is perfect for a big group! There was room for everyone to spread out. We had a few rainy days and enjoyed the hot tub, sauna, and steam room so much! We also had some lovely sunsets over the water and enjoyed the fire pit as well. We played football on the soft green lawn. The kitchen has everything you need. We made dinner every night at the house to take advantage of being there and the long summer days after a day of exploring. The 3 Bears grocery and liquor store are close which was helpful. The Carr’s in Wasilla had great fish. The location is Central Valley so there is adventure in every direction My only suggestion would be updated linens/ towels. We had a great time and look forward to returning one day!!

We rented Kurt’s home for a birthday celebration and big family BBQ. It was the perfect place for multiple people to gather. Kitchen is spacious and gorgeous, also fully stocked, making it easy to host and prepare meals. The teens enjoyed the basement area with theatre room and gaming activities. We also had guests and visitors who came over on boats and watercrafts so the use of the dock spaces was a big plus. There was plenty of parking and sleeping room for our large group as well as a spacious yard and deck area. If you need a rental in the big lake area to accommodate a larger group or family gathering, I highly recommend the Blue Lantern Lodge!

We absolutely love being outdoors in the Alaska winter and this epic house made coming back indoors so much more luxurious and relaxing. We spent six days on Big Lake with our family cooking in a fully stocked kitchen, relaxing in the hottube, steam room and sauna, and even our kids enjoyed cleaning up daily with the central vac! We fat tire biked on the lake daily, caught arctic char while ice fishing and found some ice skating spots. The great room has some amazing acoustics for those of you that play stringed instruments and the sound system throughout the house kept our kids playing and smiling downstairs in the game room for hours. Kurt and Holly were fabulous hosts and patient with our questions. We're looking forward to coming back andaybe even finding ourselves in Aruba for some sun and sand time!

There is a huge game room, sauna, hot tub, massage area, and a massage chair... and fire pit. Everything was there for us to use in the kitchen, a lot of towels. Three bears store is nearby. We had an amazing time at kurt’s big lake property. Spent 3 days there in preparation for a wedding ceremony across the lake, during which Kurt and Cesar helped us transport dozens of people. The reception followed and was one for the books! Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Epic weekend! This is the perfect house for large (or small) gatherings. We had a sweet 16 birthday party so the full size basement with air hockey table, foosball, pool table, darts and home theater was perfect. Not to mention the hot tub, sauna and steam room. Large deck with a huge lawn and the fire pit was a hit as the night went on. Plenty of dock space for boats and jet skis. And a gourmet kitchen! The house alone sleeps tons of people. And it has an apartment over the garage that sleeps even more if needed! Kurt responded to the handful of questions that came up right away, mostly about how to get the sound system to play music in the hot tub room for the kids while the adults listened to something else in the huge living room! The amenities in this home are endless. Awesome place. The birthday girls already asked if we could book it again for next year! Thank you, Kurt, for making this the most memorable birthday party we've ever experienced.

It was fabulous. Words do not justify the experience. Dry Sauna, Steam Bath, Hot Tub ROOM. Amazing. Basement with Air Hockey (full size game just like the one we used to play at the exclusive Tan-Tara Resort in Missouri when our kids were much closer to 8 and 12.... not 26 and 30 as they are now. Super fun and so nostalgic. Btw, Pool Table, workout room and full size movie screen we took advantage of, also. Kurt helped me secure a great rate at the last minute for a rental car plus gave us an overview of what to do on this beautiful lake property. Thank you, Kurt Hansmeier, for the most adventuresome vacation we have ever had at the perfect, out of this world home.

Wish the towels were softer. The kitchen was well supplied and fun to make big family meal. Everyone enjoyed the air hockey & foosball tournaments. The view of Denali from the deck and great room was stunning.

Beautiful scenery. Lakefront setting is absolutely stunning!!! Sunset was amazing and that same night we saw the Northern Lights later in the night....in September!!! We plan on coming back this winter with the snowmobiles and bringing sleds for the kiddos. Cooking a gourmet meal was a breeze for our guests (45 of them). Beds were super comfortable and if the weather is bad, there is plenty of things to do inside (pool table, game room with real arcade games, gym equipment, movie room!!! Wow!!! Didn't get to enjoy the hot tub but next time for sure!!!! Thanks again for an awesome getaway!!! Our batteries are definitely recharged after this vacation!!

Kurt and his house are amazing! A group of friends and myself from Los Angeles were visiting Alaska for the first time and started our trip at Big Lake. Kurt is a great host and took us out on the lake in his boat, and gave us the best tips for places to go in Alaska! Big Lake is a perfect location from which to visit Talkeetna (where we did a flightseeing trip) and Hatcher Pass (both awesome places recommended by Kurt). The house is a DREAM, and it's hard to want to leave when you can stay at the house and soak in the hot tub (there's a sauna and steam room too, omg). At night we even managed to see the northern lights one night from the dock on the lake... BEST HOUSE EVER!

Absolutely pleased! We had an amazing vacation and a wonderful stay. Will definitely be making a return trip!

My family and I had a great time in Alaska. We also very much enjoyed this fantastic home. The home is absolutely beautiful and wonderfully maintained. It exceeded our expectations and the owner was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Big Lake Alaska is a little slice of paradise and it was very centrally located for our unforgettable Alaska vacation as well as an incredible value. What an amazing experience.

We had a very nice time staying on this property. The lake is beautiful and enjoyed the sunsets from the large deck. Home theater, spa exercise room and game room offered many activities enjoyed it all.

I wish I could give this place 6 Stars! Seriously, what a beautiful home and super duper host! We had a group of 17 cabi clothing stylist there for a weekend retreat and there was not one complaint out of the group! How often does that happen? 17 woman and ZERO complaints! From the theater room, that we were able to livestream from to the masseuse we booked on a moments notice to treat a few of the ladies in the massage area of the spa room! I’m already looking forward to my next stay and can’t say enough good things about this property or it’s host, Kurt!

Rented Kurt's place for my daughter's wedding party. A dozen or so recent college grads, many first timers to Alaska. Needless to say, but this place had all the room (s) and all the amenities they needed, enough to separate the "guys from the gals" on the wedding day. Great location on the lake, and views that gave a wonderful Alaska experience to everyone.

This was our families first trip to Alaska and we are so very happy to have found this wonderful property to base our adventures out of. The owner Kurt was incredibly accommodating and helped us plan our daily activities. Alaska is so incredibly beautiful. The home is gigantic and has every amenity you could ever imagine. Our large family was very comfortable in this amazing home. Every night we built a bonfire at the amazing stone fire-pit. The kitchen is absolutely amazing and the sound systems and home theatre are over the top. The home even has a gym and an air hockey table as well as a pool table, foosball, ping-pong, and a competition dart board. We highly recommend this home and hope to come back again soon. It was the best vacation ever!

Lots of room to move around in and outside . We will be back again to enjoy this beautiful large home with awesome sunsets while sitting around the fire pit on the lake .
