We had lots of fun doing water sports on the lake and wine tasting in the region. Excellent location for a family/friends vacation!

Really nice location.. well maintained. Private, but not secluded. Clear directions, defined rules, no guessing. It was exactly as advertised and consistent with ratings and reviews that we researched in advance of our stay! Great experience and wonderful memories!

This cottage was very beautiful, very beautifully decorated large spacious however, it did not have a covered porch or deck, and the lake access was down a very long set of steps.

We had a great time in this beautiful home. Great views, plenty of room for our family. Enjoyed the kayaks and pedal boat!

Our family enjoyed relaxing here by the lake and hiking to nearby waterfalls. The kitchen was well equipped for making meals and it was fun using the kayaks and pedal boat.

This is my third time staying at the Callahan's - first time in the main house though. The house was clean, kitchen well appointed, but the main selling point of this property is the outdoor space, and perfect location. And the beds were extremely comfortable! Likely not my last time here :-)

We had such a great time at this Vrbo - the check-in and out was so easy, and the house itself was in an amazing location with access directly to the lake.

It has been a pleasure working with Mary & Mike, my hosts, throughout this entire experience. The cottage was absolutely spotless.... everything you need (utensil wise) to make a meal was provided. Two refrigerators in the kitchen, made it easy to juggle cold beverages and food. The weather was a challenge, but we had a modern fireplace to ward off the rain dampness. Beds were perfect. I'm looking forward to returning next year.

Our family of five stayed in this wonderful lake home on our visit to Watkins Glen, about 20 minutes away, and Seneca Falls, 25 minutes away. If you are interested in a wine tasting tour, you are quite literally nestled just past a wine grove and within a few-minute drive to many wineries. But for us, the best part was the magnificent views of Seneca Lake. We enjoyed sunsets on the patio, and even better, we walked down the stairs to the dock and enjoyed morning coffee in absolute peace and quiet. We enjoyed access to kayaks and took them on a lovely paddle south and were appreciative of the access to all of the supplies we needed. The house itself is stocked with Stickley/ Mission style furniture, very cozy for the few moments we spent indoors, and has a huge kitchen table where we enjoyed an evening game night after the sun had set. The kitchen has all of the supplies necessary including a vast array of OXO brand utensils--we have the owner to thank for the design of those patented grips. Great engineering/ art design lesson throughout the house. Our kids enjoyed the piano and rekindled their piano skills. And, we especially loved the large outdoor patio with grill and fire pit which had a perfect view of the lake and the sunsets. Be warned, though: To get from the house at the top of the cliff to the lovely dock requires a descent of a set of stairs built along the cliff--not for the faint of heart. Highly recommended.

This location worked out very well for our family. The lake is clear and refreshing and the house was well equipped with things to do. The kitchen, especially, was complete with whatever tool you needed. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had the pleasure of staying at this property over Memorial Day Weekend to celebrate a college graduation. Everything was perfect! The home was comfortable and spotless, the location was convenient from Ithaca, and we all felt very much at home. Mary and Mike are kind and accommodating! We hope to someday visit again.

An excellent experience from the beginning. The hosts are very communicative and organized. They answer all your questions and make you aware of all you may need. The house is amazing, very clean and directions are clear. Rooms are beautiful, kitchen is large and is very well stocked. Ample supplies and linens. The internet and TV service are excellent. The yard is fenced in and wonderful for your dog. With beautiful views. Parking is great and right next to the house, which is wonderful. Access to the lake is easy and safe. There are steps, but not a lot compared to other properties. If it's too many due to a health issue or limitation, there is an access road. The lake frontage and dock are great. Plenty of chairs, lounges and table. Full use of kayaks and boats to share. An awesome pergola with a shade fabric. Dog friendly and wonderful. Our dog made friends with the next door renters dog...it really was a great week! Thank you for everything.

This was the perfect setting for our weekend getaway with friends. It was a short drive to Watkins Glen for shopping and hiking and very close to numerous wineries and breweries. We visited on a rainy April weekend, which kept us indoors some, but the home is comfortable with beautiful views of Seneca Lake and well-equipped with anything you need. Mary was very responsive to our questions and close by if we needed anything.

Great place. Location is ideal. Owners were great to deal with. The property is as advertised. Plenty of room inside. The yard is good and fenced in, perfect for our dogs. Great views. As the listing says, you have to walk down a pretty big staircase to get to the lake. Not ideal. But you can drive your car right down to the lake, which is huge. So we would drive our stuff down to the lake every morning and drive it back up at night, and just walk up and down during the day. Not a problem at all. The owners have a place close by and they are around, but they completely leave you alone and respect that the place is yours for the week. Can't speak highly enough about the owners. Great to deal with. Would rent this place again.

The four of us enjoyed a great weekend at the Lakehouse. We were pleasantly surprised at how spacious the home was. More than comfortable for us. We were glad the weather was pleasant enough for an evening paddle on the lake. We chose to take our meals at the local restaurants but the kitchen has everything you need to cook while enjoying the lake views. We highly recommend this lovely lake cottage.

Thank you Mary and Mike for a wonderful week. We wanted to explore the area waterfalls and this was the perfect spot from which to do that. As lake people from way back, we prefer lakes to the Jersey Shore. We know what we are getting into when we go to a lake cottage. If you are not lake cottage types, there are a few spiders and stuff, but it is in the woods and on a lake. That's what you get. There was nothing terrible about them or any other insects. Just normal living, in the woods. The neighborhood was quiet and away from the vacation spots just enough to be relaxing and yet not too far that you couldn't get somewhere within 30 minutes or less for something to do. We went into Watkins Glen almost every day when we needed to run an errand and that was a 20 minute drive - which includes the slow journey out of the property area. It's a couple miles off the main road, mostly gravel, and one lane. The requested speed limit is 5 MPH once you get around the homes, so that takes a bit of your time. Not a problem for us because for once, we weren't in a hurry no matter what we did. This is a great place from which to explore the Finger Lakes. The setting is gorgeous and the cottage is very clean. We went swimming and kayaking most of our days and the water was fantastic. (Again, we like lakes). Sunsets were beautiful. You are right on the wine trail once you get out to the main route - for those that want that type of trip, this is the prime location. There is even a winery in the neighborhood which we did patronize one day. If you are visiting waterfalls, our favorites were Buttermilk Falls and Ithaca Falls. Everyone talks about Watkins Glen State Park, which is amazingly beautiful, but not our #1 - that would be Buttermilk for us. Ithaca Falls is awesome for it's look and the ease in which to get there. Don't skip Robert H. Treman, but if you don't want a strenuous hike, go to the lower entrance to see Enfield Falls, and then drive to the upper entrance and do the shorter hike to see Lucifer Falls. Still a pretty taxing hike for some, but much shorter. Go to Sampson Park and also into Montour Falls. Don't miss Hector Falls on your way into Watkins Glen. We took a trip to Geneva one day which was just lovely. A wonderful stay, with great hospitality, and we would absolutely do it again.

We absolutely loved our stay! The house is far more spacious than the photos reveal, and the owners are genuine dog lovers who are happy to have your pup stay. The location is perfectly situated among some of the best wineries and restaurants. 5 stars for sure!!

The lake house was perfect for what we were looking for, which was a nice weekend with a view of the water and resources to just hang tight and enjoy company we don’t see often. The directions to get to the place were spot on and everything was pretty simplified and laid out for us.

This location can’t be beat. The house is quaint and has all the amenities.
