There wasn’t privacy, the conversations from nearby rooms could be heard. And there were cockroaches in the bathroom.

I showed up at 1am and the gate was locked. Nobody to answer me. I had asked beforehand and the hostel confirmed that my arrival time would be no problem.

Breakfast was nice. Netflix... when it worked.

Overall, this was a very disappointing and frustrating stay! The staff were very unresponsive and lacked communication and social skills regarding everything we had to speak to them about throughout the stay. When we checked in we weren't given the room I booked. When I explained this, I was told I would have to pay an extra 35 dollars! It took a few attempts to explain, show the booking on my phone and then a phone call for the young girl to eventually give us the room I booked. As soon as we were in the room, our two young boys were keen to use the pool (one of the main reasons I chose this hostel) but we were told they couldn't use it for the rest of the afternoon as it was being cleaned. We were disappointed but we we're told they could use it the next day. The next morning at 7:40am, I asked what time breakfast was and a young girl said 9am. A few minutes later, a woman came out and said we could have it in ten minutes! (Lack of communication between staff?) I sat down with my youngest son and when the young girl brought our breakfasts I said my partner and other son were on their way. She completely ignored them when they sat down and it wasn't until me and my youngest son had finished our breakfast that they informed us that only two breakfasts were included and that we would have to pay for two more!! Again, we stood our ground and showed our booking that stated 'breakfast included' and eventually they agreed to give us breakfast. Later in the afternoon after a trip to the volcano, we returned to the hostel to cool down and have a swim in the pool, only to be told again that we couldn't! When we asked why, they said because there were chemicals in it...not just chlorine but something else...but they couldn't say what!?! We were really fed up by this point and explained that we have our own pool back at home...it takes my partner a couple of hours to clean the pool!

The breakfast was good. If you only care about price then it's acceptable. But for a few dollars more you can get much better elsewhere in the city.

The beds were like hospital beds and although the area itself was quiet you could hear everything going on in the hostal including showers in other rooms and people talking on their phones.

The room was not at all cozy. 3 beds inside, and the bed that I slept is was very comfy, but there was totally no decoration whatsoever in the room. Also the light was very bright. Too bright for a bedroom.

All personal was strange! The ovners feels like scaried! Non-comunicative peoples! I had 3 nights accommodation! The first night I slept in an apartment near the location, and the two nights of accommodation stayed in a different room than the one I had originally bought. I really don't care about the owners. A little arrogant! They should change their behavior in the future!

The room was huge and the AC was nice. There were several beds in the room. The wifi was good and there was even Netflix on the tv. The included breakfast was yummy. We were able to fill up our water bottle by asking staff and they even included free plastic water bottles in the room. The area is very secure and gated and very close to the bus station and the city center. Both are a quick bus trip or a 25 minute walk. The room and area was very clean. All in all, we would stay again as it was comfy, we liked the breakfast, it was close and the neighborhood was very safe and secure.

There is a pool advertised but it isn't filled. There is a small gap all around the door which just seemed like a huge waste on electricity for AC and if you're close enough you can see in. There is also a bright light on until late outside of the room in front of the window. Blackout drapes instead of shear white drapes would have helped to sleep later. The water didn't work in the area when we were there for most of the day and evening. It's our of their hands but a little explanation would have been helpful. After asking u was able to get a bucket of water to wash our kids a bit before putting them to bed. The staff was a bit odd, like not friendly but maybe just shy? There isn't much near the guesthouse minus a tienda or two so you'll have to walk a bit to find things to eat but that's nice that it was quiet there.

On the bright side, the pet gallina was pretty cool.

The crickets and ants in the room didn't bother me as much as the roaches, which I saw in the room daily. What bothered me more is that the staff didn't take ownership of the issue or promise it would be taken care of (clearly it wasn't). Generally speaking, it was clear the workers were not familiar with the conventions of working in hospitality. Location wise, there is not much to eat or do in the vicinity, and the community is gated with barbed wire with limited entry after 10 pm.

They have pictures of a nice pool but it’s all dirty and can’t use it . I don’t know when was the last time they cleaned it since the water is green

Place looked like it was abandoned, entire bathroom was dirty, room full of mosquitos, they couldn't find the key to the room, only information provided to me was the check out time, false advertising about the pool was dirty overall place should be looked into to keep it open.

Breakfast was very good. Is a quiet location to rest. Very big room ! Really like it.

At check in, no indications were given about were to find people,if we need something.

The staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast was good and the price is great!
