Loved staying here and watching all the birds and butterflies. Magical place to stay in the middle of all the paddy fields. The staff were super helpful and lovely.

Limescale problem in the bathrooms on the glass and tiles - easy to solve with the right cleaning products.

- room could probably be do with a bit of a refresh, e.g. fresh paint, fix broken lamps, clean/new the sofa and armchair covers - food and drinks menu need to be updated. it can be a bit annoying when a lot of items on the menu are never available. this also puts the service personnel in awkward position where they need to apologise for things ordered are not available

Time spent closely with the nature.

We liked the location, spatial expanse, close-to-nature feeling and scenic walking paths Water pressure was good. Bicycles were provided for our riding pleasure

Please keep this confidential: I went with my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary (we are Sri Lankans living in Sri Lanka). When I checked-in I was told that I had made a mistake, as my booking was not on FB basis ALTHOUGH I WROTE an email on January 27, 2022 to the Reservations at Kalundewa Retreat (KR) to request specific confirmation of this, but they did not reply. Previously, I had called KR who informed me that no rooms were available for my preferred dates. Nevertheless I inquired from KR about the prices and the FB rate was quoted at LKR 161,000 (approx.) per two adults for three nights. I told them that Booking.com was offering the same at LKR 174,100 and hence I will book through Booking.com. even though it was more expensive. I assumed that since KR did not answer my email that FB basis was confirmed. Further Booking.com states that "Booking.com's sales section has prices you can't beat". I could have easily cancelled my stay immediately if KR had advised me otherwise. There is only one mobile no. given to contact KR and they are secretive about their Corporate Office. The only mobile no. is not answered easily and the reception (clarity of the telephone conversation) is very poor. Three electric plugs, three electric switches and the toilet mirror-light were not working. One outside step-light was also not working. They replaced only the mirror light. The mosquito net that I requested was shabbily tied to the overhead fan; hence the fan could not be used. Despite a prominent board informing us that the room had been disinfected there was a frog permanently resident in our toilet and also a cockroach. Although we were told that TVs were not provided, the adjoining room which remained unoccupied during our stay had a large TV. There was no sofa as confirmed by Booking.com. The boat ride which we took as an "extra" lasted 45 minutes out of the agreed 60 minutes. To say the least, I am disappointed with the whole deal.

This is one of the wonderful places we have ever being to. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Room and the facilities are awesome. The view and the surrounding is outstanding. I recommend everyone to go there at least once. You will get a different but THE best experience of your life.
