This was our second stay here which was 7 years ago. The property has much improved and is far better than it used to be. We only stayed as it is close to the entrance for the rainforest walk but we were pleased we chose here again due to the improvements and the staff were far more friendly than they were last time. Breakfast was nice but basic, we didn't have the evening meal. I certainly think it deserves more than a 6 score as shown on booking.com so I have given an 8. It is expensive but there isn't much choice at this entrance to the rainforest. We have visited from both entrances and we consider this to be the best and quietest.

No Internet other than when you are standing in reception...but then it is in the jungle!

Fine for visiting Sinharaja, good breakfast and dinner can be had with a cold beer.

Manager was very helpful and friendly. He upgraded our room booing to a deluxe without extra charge. Room is clean and newly built with working hot water which is very helpful in cold weather conditions there.

There was no meal options like BB for the room but manager kindly arranged meals for acceptable price. Not to complain but it would be nice if you add some small functional utilities to the room like hangers to the closet, TV, proper dust bin.

The food was delicious, our evening meal and lunch the following day was superb, some of the best food we tried on our whole trip! Also the room we had opened onto a veranda with a beautiful view over the trees and tea plantations. The location was ideal for Sinharaja and the lodge kindly organised our onward taxi to Galle.

The restaurant and communal areas seemed a little worn out but we noticed works were being undertaken to do some renovations so perhaps this was being undertaken.

We did not like the management treatment. There was a lack of info of how to visit the forest (main attraction there) and we did not were friendly (in the way 99% of Sri Lankan hospitality). Be careful if they offer you leech socks, afterwards they will make you pay for use them.

Food at the restaurant was always really good
