A lovely stay in a peaceful location Staff are friendly. neat and clean room; comfortable bed.

Everything was great. The views were amazing. They also gave us an upgrade to an ocean-view room. The pool and the stunning view are unquestionably its selling points. I would stay there again without hesitation.

The property is located in a quiet area, while the restaurants and beach are accessible within a couple minutes walking. The pool is clean and has an amazing view on the ocean. All staff were very kind and Chandana and his team made sure we had everything we needed. At arrival we got an upgrade to a big room with ocean view and a jacuzzi! Also they spoiled us with some juices just because they were nice. :)

It is a very nice hotel, located out to the sea. You have a good view from the room and the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was okay and the pool is very good - I would actually say amazing. We were travelling with a baby and the whole side with low water (about 10-20 cm) is ideal for a baby! The pool was very clean. One of the best pools I have seen! Staff was very nice and accomodating! If you dont consider the ants, its a good hotel and I would stay there again - just because of the pool.

The bathroom and the room has ants. I was a problem for us, since it came into all our bags and clothes. There are alot of cracks between the different materials in the bathroom. The doors to the balcony does not close properly. If you look from the side there is a gap.

Very quiet relaxing spot.staff very friendly and helpful.Just off the main track but only a 10 minute stroll to beach and main street.Great views across the bay ,with some great sunset photos to be had.

The pool and the view! the rooms were also extremely comfortable and spacious. And the hotel probably has one of the nicest managers I’ve ever met.

There is no Spa, so the hotel might better cut that out of their name. Also, the breakfast was very disappointing.. I would recommend having your breakfast in town!

Lovely resort but at the price we paid (4x price of anywhere else we stayed) we did expect it to be amazing and we weren't let down. The rooms were excellent. Huge comfortable bed, perfect view and the bathroom was amazing. We loved the shutters that opened from the bathroom into the bedroom so you could literally shower whilst looking out to the sea view! The shower was excellent too. To top it off, we got engaged on the rocks at the back of the hotel overlooking the sea at sunset, so it really was a perfect stay.

The breakfast wasn't anything special. After 10 days of fruit, eggs and toast in more budget hotels, we would have preferred something else and maybe for the price of this hotel there could have been more options.

it’s a new hotel with a great view of the sea. Comfortable rooms with big balconies. I watched wonderful sunset and enjoyed every evening.

Nice bathroom/shower

We have never felt so unwelcome in a hotel. The staff was unfriendly from the beginning to the end. We had the impression of disturbing even we did not ask/demand anything. The breakfast on our first day was terrible (like being prepared days ago), the water we ordered wasn't brought, no one there to ask. On the second day the breakfast was better, we had juice and water which we didn't have on our first day. Moreover you had to walk to get to the beach much longer than indicated on the page. We wanted to stay one day longer in Unawatuna but moved to another hotel, even for one night. The difference of the other hotel was enorm. Cannot recommend this place at all. We stayed in 8 different hotels during our 4-week-round trip and had nowhere such a bad experience.

Nice clean hotel, great view, beautiful room.

AC in my room was very noisy. It ran at full fan speed. The remote was not from this exact model, so it did allow to control only temperature, but not fan speed. I told to staff three times about the problem, they said "yes, yes", but did nothing. It was hard to sleep. Too hot without AC, too loud with it.

The location was good and views were also good

Great sunsets and good facilities at the hotel. Wonderful view from the room too and quite clean throughout. Nice pool too. Also, Unawatuna main strip can get very busy so it’s really good the hotel is just a few minutes away from that - you can have a great night’s sleep without the noise and car pollution. Cham, the hotel manager made us feel at home. He did a superb job accommodating our requests and was really friendly throughout. The staff in general was very well trained and responsive.

Pillows were not the best. The breakfast should be a lot more varied for a resort.

Fantastic location, directly overlooking the sea and close to all restaurants and shops. Exceptional service; the Manager Sham personally welcomes you by name for breakfast (that is a really nice touch and made me feel a very welcome guest). All staff incredibly nice and helpful. The standard room I received for the price I paid was above my expectations; the bathroom was very clean, shower superb and view of the sunset priceless. I will definitely stay at the Water Gate Resort again when I return to Sri Lanka

Staff were very helpful. Sorted out PCR for us in Galle too. Anything we asked they tried to help with. Rooms were comfortable with a very nice view. Hotel located in quiet area of the Unawatuna strip.

Very nice and helpful staff, the rooms are nice and all with sea view. They let us stay at the pool after checkout time and allow us to take a shower. Good location : 10 min walk to the main beach.

The pool chairs and matresses are a bit outdated. We saw them clean the pool every day but still the pool was not very clean. No driver accomodation.
