Great place. It was fun watching the iguanas and the sun sets. We all had a great time and Abby was great in meeting us at the car barge. We did not encounter any major problems with the rental. We would stay again.

Meritage House is perfect for those wanting a wonderful island experience. Its private yet close to beaches , town and grocery stores. Our group loved the outdoor space…screened porches and pool. We especially liked the privacy of the bedrooms. The photos on VRBO are true representations of how Meritage is decorated and set up. Linda and Randall were wonderful to deal with. We loved our stay at Meritage House on St. John. The location was very convenient to Cruz Bay. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-stocked and the pool was refreshing. Unfortunately there is no longer a hot tub so that amenity should be removed from the website. The manager was very quick to respond when we contacted her a few times. Our grandson especially enjoyed the iguanas that reside in the trees beside the pool! I would love to return some day!

Absolutely stunning views, wonderful space to spend time together and also have quiet areas. Easy access to Cruz Bay and just so much more than we could have even imagined.

Once we got over the very steep roads to get to the home, we were able to settle in for a week of visiting St. John. We were unaware that the roads and downtown were challenging to drive and park here. In fact, it made a difference for where we went to dinner and shopped due to unavailability of parking but the locations we did stop at were great. Nice that everywhere we went were “open air” locations. But for the Meritage Great House, there were many pluses from the air conditioned bedrooms, stocked kitchen, and patio space to hang out. In fact, most of our afternoons were spent on the patio (bring bug spray) since the great room space was unusable. It was just so hot, even with windows open, especially when we cooked in. They really should consider an a/c unit in that great space for comfort. The pool was nice to relax in at the end of the day but we couldn’t get the temperature controlled on the hot tub. It didn’t matter much since the heat was prohibitive anyway. Bedrooms and beds very comfortable and use of laundry equipment was very welcomed. Lots of towels and beach chairs provided with an ice chest but be sure to rent snorkel gear in town. The master bath downstairs was great with the outdoor shower but be aware that this meant the bathroom was not air conditioned and was very hot to use. We realize it was August, but it was uncomfortable. Also, the upstairs bedroom had an issue with mosquitoes that we couldn’t fix. Overall, a positive experience with a very nice home base for our stay. The sunsets weren’t as lovely as on islands such as Maui, but the views were very nice. A very nice home away from home for our family of 6.

This property is fabulous. As the bedrooms as separate from the living space you have full privacy! Also bar fridge is awesome and a pool literally looking off a cliff with ocean views.

This was a good house for our group and reminded me of an old boardwalk hotel with lots of levels and decks. All rooms were ensuite and private so it worked nicely for 4 couples. The pool was very popular with the group. There is no air conditioning on the main level which made preparing meals in the kitchen unpleasant but we spent most of our time on the decks. I would suggest updating the provisions, there were 3 blenders and only one worked but the pitcher was cracked. The check in process was difficult.

The house was lovely! We were two families with a total of 5 kids and everyone was happy. The house was well equipped, each bedroom was private, and there was a variety of common spaces for people to hang together or have quiet time. The pool was great and the location in Chocolate Hole was close to the markets, Cruz Bay, and north side beaches. Would definitely stay again!

Very nice house. Love that the bedrooms are located away from the common area - kitchen/living room. Pool was very relaxing. Saw many a beautiful sunset from the pool deck.

10 amazing women ventured to the island together to enjoy the beautiful views, beaches, and the company of good friends. The location was excellent, close to Cruz Bay for activities, meals out, and the grocery store. The house was prefect for 8 and added on the cottage for the 10 of us; any more would not have worked. Rooms, spaces, and pool were excellent and as pictured in the write-up. Only negative was no A/C in living room - after a long day on the beach it was too warm to relax in there and would have loved to share drinks and card games there. It worked well for the mornings but cooking in there heated things further. But that was the only drawback, otherwise the house and storage had everything and more than needed for a truly pleasurable week.

We loved this house! Chris the owner and Abby the property manager are both great to work with. This is one of those homes which provides both great gathering spaces and the ability for each couple or family to have privacy as well. No A/C in the main house, only the bedrooms, so that was a bit limiting to our older members. Kitchen is well equipped and stocked, the pool area is perfect for lounging. Our family really loved staying here.

This home was the perfect getaway, close to town, close to the magnificent beaches, every bit as lovely as photos and more!!! Very much enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend!

We rented both the Great House and the Cottage next door for our son's graduation trip as well as a celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. It was the perfect setup for us, giving my husband and me some space away from our sons and their friends, while being only a few steps away to keep tabs on the young people and use the big kitchen. The house's layout allows everyone to spread out and find some personal space when needed, while the pool and jacuzzi offer fun communal space for gathering. The views from the balconies enhance relaxation time; and the property is a short drive to town amenities, while offering a sense of seclusion. The property manager, Abby, was very responsive and made our stay even more enjoyable. We truly felt like valued guests.

Everyone was extremely accommodating to our sudden change in travel plans and felt very welcomed. The view was amazing, the location was great, and the property was beautiful and well-kept!

The house was perfect for us! There is plenty of room to spread out. The air conditioning was very nice! The pool and hot tub were fantastic! The location to Cruz Bay and grocery stores were close! We had a Blast!

We stayed here with our family, age of kids are 19-22. The view from the property is amazing! When we stayed the mosquitoes were bad, the main living room and kitchen don’t have air conditioning so we kept the patio doors open but at times bugs were too much that it wasn’t enjoyable to be in that area. The bedrooms had great air, beds comfortable, each had their own bathroom which was also nice. Property also had beach chairs, coolers, and umbrellas to use for the beach, this was very nice not to have to pack that along. The only downfall of the properties was the bugs. Everything else was great and very comfortable!

Stayed a week. Had my family of eight stay. Plenty of room. Pool was amazing. Place is a little dated and could use a few small repairs but not bad. Manager Abby was so helpful and accommodating.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the meritage house. It was spacious, clean and well stocked. The location was also very convenient. Would definitely stay there again when visiting St. John.

Excellent property for my 40th birthday getaway. Well appointed kitchen and brand new grill so we cooked multiple times at the house. Only 8 minute drive into Cruz Bay when we didn’t feel like cooking. Beds were comfortable and AC worked well so we slept well each night. Would certainly look to stay here again.

Great house with everything you would want, fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, beach chairs for beach days, hot tub, pool, multiple decks with gorgeous views, and plenty of sitting/relaxing spaces outside. The layout of the house was perfect for our group of friends/couples. There is a large shared main living/kitchen area and then all rooms are privately tucked away on separate levels of the house, each with their own bathroom/shower. The house was located in a quiet area but only a 5min drive to Cruz Bay. A rental car really is your best option for transportation although they are difficult to get if reservation not made in advanced---and even if it was made in advanced and confirmed our airport vehicle rental location still did not have a vehicle for us when we arrived and had to get it the next day which really was quite a hassle. If rental reserved on St. Thomas, the car ferry is used to transport yourself and the vehicle. Car ferries and people ferries basically run every hour. The Meritage House is a perfect vacation home and I would love to stay again!

Clean, convenient, well laid out. A perfect place to enjoy all that St. John has to offer! Chris and Abby were great to work with.

Loved everything about this property, great location, beautiful views. Close enough to get to everything without feeling like you were in the middle of everything, all the rooms were clean and everything was perfect, check in was a breeze. The property manager was very attentive. 5 stars all the way around, would not hesitate to book again in the future!!!

We loved our stay! The beautiful outside terraces were so nice and every bedroom had a bathroom and the view was unbelievably beautiful! The host was very kind and always available. We loved the pool and hot tub! We will go back! Thank you for having us!
