great hotel ever

Excellent location right near Rushaga gate, perfect for gorilla trekking and with a great packed lunch arranged for that. The staff were SO kind, friendly and helpful! They really went above and beyond bringing popcorn snacks when chilling on the terrace and access to tea and coffee services all day. The services were AMAZING with free boot cleaning and laundry after the trek. They also arrange for hot water bottles in the bed during dinner to keep you warm at night. The place was reasonably priced considering everything else esp in Buhoma was $$$$. The food was mostly fantastic! We were very impressed with everything from reception to the stay and checkout. Cannot recommend it enough!

The room was a bit small, and some of the food was a bit hit or miss (esp the desserts!) Traveller tip : don’t get swindled by the Batwa Empowerment / waterfall hike. It’s a scam!

This was the best lodge during our trip! It’s simply wonderful! You have lots of space, everything is absolutely clean, the meals are as huge as they are delicious (so unfortunately we couldn’t manage to eat all of it) and the stuff is outstandingly friendly and helpful. Our special thanks to Maurice and Alfred! They even managed to get us a gorilla permit spontaneously.

Staff went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable - celebrated my 50th at the lodge and cannot recommend Ichumbi enough! Thank you to the whole team!

Location to Rushaga gate for Gorilla trekking was amazing. Stunning view on Bwindi Forrest. Rona and Maureen made our stay really special. Fantastic service including welcome drink, hot water bottles each night, fire basket on lodge terasse, lunch box for the trekking, awesome 3-4 course dinners, fresh popcorn, good coffee/tea bar all day, blankets against the cold. Beds were comfortable and the hot shower more than just welcomed. Had a “fun“ moment together when a big storm pushed in the water into the lodge and we alltogether had to rescue everything like pillows etc. Overall very pleseant stay at really good value for money and would absolutely recommend as base for the Gorilla Trekking at Rushaga area!

I expected the standard room to be a little better equiped, for example to find moskito nets. However that did not really bother us a lot. Also I cant talk about the cottages to be fair.
