We spent a week at Casa Bonita in Playa Grande. This was our fourth trip to Playa Grande for surfing but the first time staying at Casa Bonita. The house is very large and very well maintained with an attractive and flexible layout. The grounds and pool are amazing. The beach is a very short walk. Manfred the property manager is close by and very friendly. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning int to Playa Grande in the future.

Casa Bonita was an amazing house. The outside space was very accommodating. After hours of surfing, the rest of the day was spent lounging around the pool. Perfect surf holiday to start the new year.

We had three families stay in this awesome house for 3 nights. It was IDEAL for beach access (less than 5 min walk to beach), extremely safe and walkable to many spots. The neighborhood is set up with street signs and markers indicating where various cafes and restaurants are. Do not miss the Grateful Hotel and Sugabees. Amazing Banana Pancakes and delicious smoothies. We loved the amount of bedrooms and ease of using everything. The pool was refreshing after the hot beach sun and sand. Hard to enjoy the patio at night as there are lots of bugs and not much you can do to avoid but would be amazing if screened in :). Loved the distance to rentals and cafe. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would highly recommend.

Casa Bonita was a perfect place for our group of 11 adults. There is a large outdoor covered patio where we spent a lot of time. The bedrooms were very comfortable. The beach was a short walk and was quiet. There are a few restaurants, a coffee shop and a little store within walking distance too. If you walk to the end of the beach you can take a ferry across a small estuary to Tamarindo for $2. The only thing that would have made the property better would have been a few more bath towels and kitchen dish cloths. But that is very minimal.

We traveled with 9 family memebers (ages 3-67) and we all stayed in the home comfortably. Before we even arrived Iris and Bjorn ensured we had everything we needed to plan an amazing trip. Connecting us with Abraham and his team helped us create memorable experiences with information about excursions, transportation and chefs. Manfred, the property manager was awesome and ensured we had everything we needed. The home is kept immaculately. Everything was clean and we had everything we needed in the kitchen. The rooms are lovely and we had plenty of space where we were nlt kn top od each other. We brought our own items for the beach since we knew there were not any items at the home. The outdoor area by the pool was absoultely stunning. We ate almost every meal outside. The pool was a favorite. We spent hours outside enjoying the pool and the outdoor furniture and everyone enjoyed themselves in the outdoor space. The area is perfect. We were literally steps from the beach. We also walked down to Mar Azul several times for drinks and food. If you go try the ginger beer and the cinnamon rolls. The only thing we weren't prepared for were the ants that seemed to come out at night. They did not spoil our trip and they were usually gone by the morning. A few things like wasps got in as well. We accepted that we were near the natural habitat. We also were excited to get visits from a few crabs, skunk and raccoon. So don't leave food outside because they come by in the morning to check and see if you left them goodies. It was exciting for our family especially the kids. Casa Bonita is in the perfect home in a wonderful community. You truly feel like you are in nature and on a vacation. We will definitely be back to make more memories.

Very nice house in the Palm Beach area of Playa Grande. Short walk to the beach and nice pool cleaned daily. Easy to communicate with the house manager and great security on the property. Would love to come back.

A family of 12 ( 8 adults, 4 kids aged 9 to 3) stayed in this property for 10 days. The house is about an hour from Liberia and in a private villa estate property. The location is off the path but once you arrive to the property, you have all that you need within walking distance. The beach was literally a 2 minute walk and very easy for elders and young kids. There were two restaurants within walking distance, one was a 3 minute walk and the other is 5 minutes. The house looks exactly as advertised and we made good use of the swimming pool. A grounds keeper came everyday and maintained the property meticulously and Abraham was available and helped to arrange all of our taxi requests and our covid test. It was an excellent stay!

The house is large and beautifully remodeled. The bed were firm, which may be an issue for some, but suited us as a firm bed is our preference. Manfred (the property manager) met the first from our group to arrive and check in was easy. He checked in with us several times throughout the week and was helpful and friendly. If you stay at Casa Bonita try his baked goods! They are delicious. I especially enjoyed the chocolate croissants. We spent most of our time on the porch and/ or in the pool while we were at the house. The yard is beautiful. I had to force my kids out of the pool. The pool is great for young kids because it is pretty shallow at one end. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and utensils. The house is located near the beach access and within walking distance to several restaurants and shops. We found the location to be very convenient. The each is quieter and less busy than Tamarindo or other area beaches, which we loved because it made for good family time. The house owners connected us with Playa Grande tours and shuttle and they were amazing for our excursions! Our stay at Casa Bonita was happy and comfortable. I would definitely stay again! There were a couple of things I found odd, although not anything that would deter me from staying here again. 1) A lot of maintenance staff came and went through the gate, which we were advised to keep locked. They were friendly and did not bother us at all. We did arrive to the house a few times and find the gate open when he had left it locked. Nothing missing or messed with. Probably just an oversight of the maintenance staff. 2) Towels and washcloths- there was one bath towel per person which was changed for a new one at the mid week cleaning. There were no extras. I assume we could have requested more- it wasn't an issue for us, but something good to know. There were no washcloths. I do not know if this is a cultural thing, because another place we stayed on this trip also did not have washcloths. We asked for some and were given 3 for 10 people. 3)Access to laundry facilities- There is a washer/dryer on premises but it is in a locked closet. We never asked to use it, so I do not know if we would have been allowed. Seemed strange to me to keep it locked up. Over all, our stay was an amazing experience. We are so grateful for our week at this beautiful house.

This property worked perfect for our group - 6 couples! Only suggestion would be for more towels.

Loved the house, pool is great, excellent restaurants, I find the beds super comfy, others found too hard. Manford always available if needed. Howler monkeys out every morning. Housekeepers do a great midweek clean up. GREAT house to rent!!

10-day stay. Three couples - plenty of room, facilities. Clean & comfortable. Pool was clean. Kitchen appliances good, adequately stocked for cookware, utensils. Listing & description accurate.

Our group of 6 had an amazing time in Costa Rica and much of that was thanks to the house and pool! We loved the location of this property. We felt very safe, it was a very short walk to the beach and restaurants, market and a place to book a massage and yoga! We only used 3 of the 4 bedrooms in the home but honestly spent most of our time in the pool or in the outside seating area. Manfred was very responsive and is seriously the most amazing Baker!! I would recommend the cinnamon rolls and chocolate croissants! The beach is very quiet which we really preferred over the busy beach in Tamarindo. We did walk the beach and use the water taxi to go to Tamarindo and it was a nice walk. We rented a car and did drive to Tamarindo a few times. It took longer to drive than walk so if you are able, I would suggest walking. Manfred had a map to show us the area and recommended some great restaurants in the area that we walked to. We also got a great email from the homeowner explaining how to get to the home and places to eat. Overall, I would recommend this home to anyone and we all agreed we will be back again someday. We have just spent the last 8 days at Casa Bonita. We couldn't have asked for better. We were 4 couples and we were all very comfortable and never felt cramped. We all enjoyed our bedrooms and our beds as they were so comfortable. The house is very well equipped and had everything we needed. We would have liked to have a kettle for the tea drinkers but we managed with a pot. The pool area is great and lots of chairs to lounge around and relax. There are 2 fridges so lots of space to keep your refrigerated items. Beach is only a few minutes away. There are also restaurants (3 or 4) within walking distance. A few negatives: We couldn't do laundry as the machines were not accessible which we would have like to do and there is a water pump in the back bathroom that starts every 30 seconds to 1 minute. Couples staying close to that bathroom said they could hear the pump however did not keep them awake. Besides that we were sorry to leave and would have stayed much longer. Definitely a place we recommend.

This was an excellent property for our family members who ranged in age from 7 months to 68 years. The shaded outdoor living area, larger than normal pool and short walk to a spectacular beach allowed family members to be together or find solo time without the need of a car. House manager Manford was available when needed and cleaning staff visited regularly.

This was our 2nd year coming to CR & Casa Bonita. We came back because of the lovely weather, peaceful beach & proximity of the house to the beach. The renovations to Casa Bonita were very nice. Especially liked the new kitchen drawers & fresh paint. If there’s one thing we would suggest, it would be to supply more kitchen dish cloths for wiping counters & outside dining table. Also, a cleaner for cleaning outside dining table would be helpful. We disinfected it every morning, as the raccoons like to climb on the table every night. We did have an odd occurrence this year, with crabs entering the house, some way? We’re still baffled over that, as we never leave the door open, except of course to go in & out. Overall, we love staying in palm beach estates, playa grande area. Very quiet & relaxing. Our children & grandchildren had a fun time at the beach & the pool was cool after a day of sun & sand. Thank you Bjorn & Iris, once again, for sharing your home with us!

We love this area since it is only a short walk to the beach, near the restaurants mar azul and cantarana., new little market, surf camp and fun hotel, el manglar. The house is well equipped for 8. 4 bedrooms with King beds, but very hard mattresses. 3 baths. Water pressure is very low, and limited hot, but OK. Kitchen has all appliances needed, 2 friges, microwave, blender, toaster, coffeemaker, etc. poll is beautiful ( no fencing however for child safety). The cleaning staff and pool cleaner came M- W- F and did a great job. Two suggestions. House needs a hairdryer, and although there is a W/D, it is locked up. It needs to be available for guests. Each person is only given one bath towel and one beach towel which never dry because of the humidity. Overall, loved the house and would rent again.

owner is very nice. manager is completely unhelpful gives keys doesn’t know restaurants in area. no maps no info . furnitures very uncomfortable no amenities in bath no hot water in one bath bad mattresses and pillows bumpy dirt road to get there can’t flush toilet paper ( renters should be told that in advance. not “ steps from beac) as advertised... a 5 minute walk .. kitchen supplies old and junky. drive and oven old and mall functioning .. a real disappointment

Had a great time at Playa Grande, Casa Bonita was a great house for our family of 8, enjoyed the big pool. Most of all the 2 min walk to the most beautiful beach was a dream!!

Beautiful pool and grounds. Manfred always came when called. Could have used access to washer/dryer and would have been nice to have some beach chairs and things for the pool and ocean. Should also not have to replace our water bottles for kitchen but overall really did enjoy the stay.

Our three week stay at Casa Bonita was amazing!! The house was great, fully equipped and in the best location with just a 3 min walk to the most beautiful beach! If you’re looking for a family friendly area this is it! We were very comfortable with our family of 8, plenty of room for our 4 children and the in-law suit in the back was perfect for my parents! The house manager Manfred was very helpful and his baking is a must!!! The home owners made the planning process so easy with lots of information, tips about the area and people to contact when we arrived! We had the best family holiday and would most definitely rent this home again!!

What immediately stood out about this property was its location, and it did not disappoint! We chose the Tamarindo area initially because of its close proximity to the Liberia airport where we flew in and out of. It took us less than an hour to get to Casa Bonita, and once at the home, we were only a 2-minute walk from the beach! At the time, we didn't even realize we had booked a property on Playa Grande, which is actually a short distance from the town of Tamarindo. This ended up being what made this property stand out more than anything. There are no big hotels on Playa Grande, and most days we had the beach almost to ourselves. This was wonderful for the amazing surfing lessons the owner helped us set up. We still walked to Tamarindo a few times (maybe a mile or two down the beach and across the little estuary), but couldn't get over how much more crowded their beach was. This property has the perfect balance of keeping you away from the crowds, while still being convenient enough to walk to the beach, restaurants, etc. The home itself was beautiful as well. We had more than enough space for the 4 adults in our group. We loved relaxing in the full-size pool with bar stools in it. The comfy outdoor couches were a very nice touch, and we spend several hours out on the patio area daily. The interior was beautiful as well, and all the furniture was very well kept. Note that the fourth bedroom only has access from the outside, but we didn't even need to use it. We loved that, despite being in a neighborhood, we felt like we had complete privacy and plenty of space. There are several delicious restaurants in the neighborhood as well. We especially loved the restaurant at Hotel Cantarana which served breakfast and dinner. As I said before, we also took surfing lessons with Jorge at the recommendation of Bjorn, the property owner. These lessons were very affordable at $35/pp (there was 4 of us total) for an 1 hr and 45 min lesson. Jorge did a wonderful job of being patient with us, and he made it so simple for us to get up right away! Overall, this home and area was so relaxing and beautiful. This was a very nice change of pace from the action and adventure we had previously experienced in the Arenal Volcano area. This would also be a perfect, safe option for families, and we hope to bring our kids back in the near future!! Thank you, Iris and Bjorn, for a wonderful stay!

Our first time to CR, we loved it! Perfect weather every day. The house worked for us, but needs a few updates. Kitchen drawers need some attention. Out of 2 bathrooms, with double showers, only 2 shower heads worked. The beds were very comfortable, & the outside sitting area was very nice, used it every night. The walk to the beach was very short, & the beach was stunning! The pool was very nice,& we used it every day & night. Refreshing after a hot day on the beach. Shawna, & Manfred were very helpful. We loved Manfred’s home baked goods! We loved watching the iguanas & little insects & butterflies. There was also a family of raccoons that visited every night, they were fun to watch, but don’t leave anything outside at night for them to get in to! Overall, it was a great experience for us, our children & 3 grandchildren. We’ll definitely be back, & come back to Casa Bonita. Thank you Iris & Bjorn for sharing your home with us! It is a beautiful area to relax, not so crowded & touristy!,

We loved the location near the public access. Pool was beautiful and freshwater. Kitchen was pretty good, though some drawers could use a little TLC. Very nice outdoor area. The weekly cleaning was unexpected and very nice since we had no access to laundry. Beds were better than average and towels were very nice. AC worked very well. Outdoor shower cold water only and other showers had some hot water. Plenty of closet and kitchen storage with two fridges! We enjoyed the locals who came by offering rum coconut cocktails for $4 and the $50 an hour massages! Manfred made us some delicious baked goods as well. We enjoyed all the local spots Cafe Mar Azul, El Huerto, Taco Star, Ripjack. Highlight was Coco Loco at Flamingo Beach up north. Lobster and steak on a hot rock out of this world! Rented surfboards from Frijoles Locos online and they delivered them on time and were super helpful when we broke a leash. Another perfect week in Palm Beach Estates.

Casa Bonita is exactly that - a beautiful home. Simple. We loved the pool, used it every day between our trips to the beach. It was maintained regularly during our visit. The beach is minutes away by foot and is spectacular.- sandy and graced with waves as the tide moves in and out - lots of fun to play in the waves and a good place for beginners to take surf lessons. Two minutes away from Casa Bonita by foot are two cafe/restaurants with great food and friendly service. A couple of notes, if you don't have a car you will need to pick up groceries on the way from the airport or you can call Wil-Mart and they will pick you up if you purchase a minimum of $100 US. This isn't hard, food is not cheap. As well, you are not close to simple banking so bring a fair amount of hard currency ($US). As well, the forth bedroom is only accessible from an outside door. It is not accessible from inside the house. I didn't realise that from the description. There is a wonderful taco stand on the far end of the beach, worth the 40 minute walk. Manfred is the concierge. He and his wife are lovely people. He is a chef and will cook you a 4 course meal for $60/person which he hosts at his lovely home. And last but not least take advantage of his home baked goods - bread, croissants, chocolate croissants, cinnamon rolls! Thank you Iris for sharing this amazing place with us. Pura Vida! My family enjoyed their stay so very much at Casa Bonita. We particularly loved how close to the beach we were although we were not on it. The beach had thousands of shells and the water was bathtub warm. We loved walking up and down the shores. We got a kick out of watching the small bright red crabs scampering around the beach path. A wonderful restaurant was as close as the beach and we enjoyed many yummy leaks there. Do not miss the Sangria and the Jalepeno Steak. The pool at the house was sparkling clean and we used it quite more than I thought we would. The kitchen was well stocked and even had TWO refrigerators. A plus factor was that all the beds were king size but were way too hard for our liking. The place was clean. The air conditioning units did not work most of the time no matter how hard we tried to get them to work. The area is quiet and not touristy at all.

We just stayed at Casa Bonita and it was a dream come true. This is our 4th time in Playa Grande and we have always wanted to stay here - we often passed by Bonita on our previous stays when walking to the beach. Our kids begged us to book it because of the extra large pool and we loved the property & proximity to the beach. The house is in great shape and looks exactly like on the pictures. The rooms are beautiful and cozy with plenty of space in the closets. The kitchen is huge with tons of room for 2 families and 2 fridges for food and drinks, we often cooked meals ourselves. The outdoor area is amazing with lots of room, outside BBQ, deck chairs, seating area and beautiful outdoor furniture for everyone. Our kids played in the pool till late at night and had a blast. The house is very private as you cannot see the neighbors through the lovely green plantings. We always felt very safe which was important to me with children. The staff is lovely and the gardener came every day to keep the property in shape. We spent most of the evenings at the property sitting outside enjoying paradise…we missed the animals, though, and did not even see many mosquitos. We went to the little café and restaurants in the are a few times and loved the laid back vibe and good food. Visited Tamarindo – good for shopping and a night out but were glad to return to our relaxing neighborhood and get away from the bustle. Bonita is located right at the beach entrance so that you can hear the waves when sitting on the patio. My husband is a surfer so he surfed right in front of the beach access while the kids went boogie boarding. The perfect family vacation away from it all! We cannot wait to come back. My family and I had a wonderful time at Casa Bonita! The owner was very helpful with any questions we had going in and the on site manager (Manfred) was extremely helpful as well. As a few others mentioned, Manfred offers fresh bread deliveries a few days of the week which we took full advantage of. The house was great! We have 2 little ones (7&3) and they loved it! The house could easily hold 8 people comfortably using the back room. The beds were all comfortable and the rooms were very large with good AC. Two big bathrooms with fresh towels. The kitchen was well stocked (two fridges, a nice bonus) and perfect for cooking and hanging out. Open living room with games, books and a TV perfect for relaxing after a long day. Excellent wifi as well. I can't say enough about the patio and pool. The pool is huge and has built in bar stools and a bench for chilling in the water during the hot days after returning from the beach. The yard is very private and you feel very safe, fully fenced in with gate. Outdoor shower and BBQ. The beach is very close (less than 5 minute walk), we went back and forth several times a day (not like you need to plan a day trip). The neighborhood is low key with several good restaurants to walk to. Not the place to go if you are looking for night life, but Tamarindo is a short water taxi ride away if your looking for that. More restaurants available with a 5 minute drive. We loved it and would definitely go back.

Such a beautiful home in the jungle. We cooked just about every meal as the kitchen is well stocked. Just loved this place and the people. Iris was very knowledgeable and helpful giving us all the tips we needed to make this vacation a memorable one. We will definitely rent again! The most relaxing vacation here that we HAVE EVER HAD. So close to one of the most BEAUTIFUL BEACHES I've ever been on. It was like our private oasis. The caretaker is just FANTASTIC and his apple strudel is to die for. The restaurants that are in walking distance are VERY GOOD and reasonable. When we got home, my wife was so relaxed that we started saving for a return visit next Fall opting to coming back to Paradise than go somewhere else.

We have stayed in several properties in palm beach over the years and this is one is a favorite. In Palm beach there are two kinds of rentals. One where the owners just want to collect a check and have zero interest in your stay or the house (Casa La Vide Grande for example) and one where the owners are interested in making your stay the best possible. Casa Bonita’s owners and staff truly care about your stay and being attentive to any need you might have during your vacation/holiday. The location is perfect. Less than a two minute walk to the beach and one of the largest pools in PB if just hanging by the pool is on the agenda. It’s too easy to grab a board and head out to catch some waves or a cocktail for one of the most amazing sunsets. The owners are clearly attentive to keeping the property updated and have every detail needed for a stay covered. Even better, the property manager (Manfred) lives just a few houses down and his response to any request we had was unbelievably, nearly immediate. Definitely ask him to deliver the baked goods that are noted in house info material. So good! The house was super clean, the rooms were spacious and well appointed and the kitchen, like the rest of the house, had everything you would need for your vacation. In my opinion, this is an excellent value for your dollar. I told the owner he needs to charge more in fact! If you are looking in PB, I would highly recommend Casa Bonita or it’s sister property Casa Pipa.

I chose this property for my family of 6 adults because of its proximity to the beach. The beach is beautiful, wide and clean with clear water. The community is a little lack luster a couple walkable cafes. We were told the market in the subdivision was going to close which puts any store a 15 minute ride. Getting to Tamarindo and other towns where there's more to do and better dining is an uncomfortable (because of the roads) 30-40 minutes by car. As for the house, it was a bit tired. No washer/dryer we could use and maid service only once in 5 nights. Had to reuse towels. There are no beach towels, beach chairs, water toys etc. The house had minimal supplies in the kitchen and was not stocked at all. Biggest surprise was all the CR night critters and insects. Couldn't even sit outside or keep the french doors open. Oh and notice the bars on all the doors and windows. I didn't but upon arrival nothing says relax in this paradise like bars on the windows! All in all nice location to a gorgeous beach. House was sufficient but not a wow and lacked amenities to make one's stay really comfortable.
