Absolutely love the location. The house is older but efficient. We had a problem with the sliding door but management knew about it and had the part ordered. They were great to work with. Dowstairs bedroom had no air conditioning. It's in the window but it didn't work. Luckily someone was only in there 2 nights but that needs a fix. Great porch facing the lake and nice dock. Quiet end of cul de sac but still close to most activities/grocery stores. Good Vacation !!

Sliding doors secured by hook & eye! Back slider is broken, shoddy attempt at fixing is causing further damage! Kitchen needs a 9x13 pan and a spatula! This place has great potential but lacks maintenance! Grills were left without propane! Found a half of a can of beer in a dresser. Everytime water is used we hear a fog horn sound! Rusty porch loungers. Location,view, and slope to the lake made us stay. Did not report because the repairs needed would have taken too much time and we are not comfortable leaving our stuff unattended!

The view was gorgeous. However, there were a lot of dead bugs in the home upon our entry. My family and I cleaned them up. Also, there was excessive amounts of pollen on the back upper deck. It was obvious no one too the time to even wipe the table down. The lighting outside was so bad that my grandmother fell. There was also a very racist book in the home. No one from the rental agency even called to apologize after we complained on the checkout sheet.

Shannon was nice to deal with but the property management overall was not and we advise not to rent this property or from this dishonest, deceptive rental company

I would not rent this property again. Based on my recent rental experience, I found that this property owner and his/her agents cannot be trusted. When I placed the reservation for Property # 7822847, the VRBO listing page title read: “Rudd Lakehouse: Flat yard, great view, wifi”.
The week after my visit, the VRBO listing page title remains the same and has not yet been corrected. But at the time of my stay, the property did not have wifi, and had never had wifi installed.
Upon arriving at the property, I contacted the real estate agents associated with the listing to ask how to access the wifi. Their reply starts with this sentence: “It appears that Xfinity has not installed the wifi yet.” To paraphrase the rest of their boilerplate reply email, they suggested that to access the internet I could drive to their real estate office or use my cell phone.
My reply was “I do not have contact with the owner. You are their representative in this transaction. The owner should not advertise or sell a product they can’t deliver. This response is not acceptable, and the suggestions below do not meet my needs. I own internet businesses. As a VRBO agent, you operate an internet business. To think WiFi is optional in this time is wrong. If I had the facts last week, I would not have rented this property. I would be somewhere else that had the capabilities I require. This transaction was based on fraud. How do you propose to make this right?
I had to contact the real estate agent on four consecutive days with a combination of phone calls, emails, and VRBO messaging. Ultimately, they refunded $100.

A wonderful view and access to the Lake. Good area for swimming for our children and a dock for swimming, boating, and fishing. What a terrific place for our family's vacation!

Awesome Week at Smith Mountain Lake
This property had everything we needed and a view that took our breath away. Even with it being "winter" the view and accommodations were awesome. We even invited family to come out for a visit so they could enjoy things as well. Overall well maintained and for us it was the perfect location.
