We can’t say enough about this. Wonderful home. Great location, great hosts. Perfect for the children to run around on the lawn. Perfect for the family to go fishing across the street or the children to go to the beach across the street. There are so many words that escape me to describe our time there.

We rented this house for a week and were totally blown away with its location and charm. The pictures do not lie. I rent a home every year for my son, daughter in law and two grandchildren. This is the first time we all said we'd like to do the same thing next year. We felt as though we landed in paradise, and not just because of the beautiful island of Kauai, but this amazing home as well. They seem to book up pretty quickly, as our first choice for next year was already booked. We are determined to make it work so we're back to the drawing board to find new dates. The homeowners have immense pride of ownership in their property and it shows.

The location is fabulous and the views of the ocean are fantastic. We had a wonderful time & the loved every minute!

Incredibly attentive and gracious

These sweet cottages were perfect for our family of 8 adults. The home is well supplied with kitchen items, and all the beach items available make it easy to show up and relax. There are plenty of places around the cottage to gather and enjoy the breeze of the ocean across the street. Close enough to stores and restaurants to walk. We would definitely come back. Susan is easy to work with and is a lovely person.

This house is absolutely adorable! We never caught the little road separating the house from the ocean in the pics but it’s one way traffic and has one lane for pedestrian and bike traffic so really wasn’t a busy road. It’s a short walk north to Baby Beach to enter the water since the only way to get in from the house would be to climb down a wall and onto lava rocks (not advised). The house is fully stocked with everything you need utensil, cup, and plate wise with a really lovely wooden china cabinet. There is no AC so make sure you keep the timer on the fans reset to stay cool and open all the windows. Never got hot at night so this method works. The guest rooms have standing fans too which help since they don’t get as much cool breeze as the master. Chickens will try to come in the open front doors but easy to get out. They also have all the beach gear you need, and the umbrellas were really life savers for our trip. There were three of us and we fit nicely. Wouldn’t recommend more than 3 adults or will be cramped as not a lot of storage in the guest bedrooms. If you have more adults I’d highly recommend renting the Moonrise cottage. Just a note if you don’t rent the Moon cottage as well then the wonderful hosts do stay there. The only complaint we can muster up is the difficulty locking the doors. Even following the steps it is still a challenge but eventually always worked out after messing with it for a while. The house and grounds are super nice and definitely what beach house dreams are made of. Being centrally located on the eastern shore meant equal distance trips to the north and south shores. Kapa’a is a super cute town with a great fruit stand and lots of shops that we enjoyed. In the end the hosts are incredibly responsive, super nice and welcoming, and just lovely people.

Had a blast exploring Kauai with our 3 adult children and their partners. The house (for the kids) and cottage (for my husband and self) we’re perfect. Both were equipped with everything needed for our stay and the view from the porch was fantastic. The property manager stopped by to welcome us with some beautiful flowers from her garden. I would highly recommend this rental and we all hope to return soon!

This was our first time staying in Kapaa. But from now on we ONLY want to stay In Kapaa!! The house is absolutely perfectly situated, and the view…….unbeatable. The home was perfect for those of us that stayed there. It’s very roomy, open, airy,; and it was great for cooking, barbecuing and having our very, very large family over for meals. The 8 mile walk/biking path right in front is fantastic. Made getting our daily exercise in easy and a pleasure. I could go on and on, and on. Everyone that spent time with us also loved it. We are all looking at our calendars so we could book the next trip!!!! Hats off to the owner and manager of this AMAZING home.

This stay was beyond our expectations!! From the ocean breeze all through the house with the storm shutters open, to looking for geckos like they were Easter eggs. The ocean view was enjoyed by all throughout many different parts of the day. Our hosts were spectacular!

Perfect vacation home. Close to shopping and the beach. Wonderful family spot. Pleasant and clean.

Our family of 5 had our first trip to Hawaii and we stayed for 11 days in Sunrise cottage while we explored the island of Kauai. It was the perfect place to stay. The house itself is beautiful and clean and the owner Susan is a wonderful host. The house was centrally located on the East side of the island in Kapaa- so driving anywhere on the island was very easy and didn’t take up your whole day. Also, the sunrises every morning are out of this world! We also had whale sightings almost daily and even got to see a monk seal that came up on baby beach. One last thing that made this place really wonderful for our family and kids is all the stuff they have available for you to pack and take to the beach- boogie boards (our favorite), snorkel gear, beach chairs, umbrellas, cooler, and beach towels. We went to the beach, hiking, or on an adventure every day and used something. Just something to think about when considering options to stay- this house has it all! Book it now- you will be so happy you did! Best trip ever!

A gorgeous property with amazing views. We found it to be centrally located with great access to get around the island. The little beach and walking path in the front of house offered an easy opportunity for individuals to get away.

Great ocean side location - watched whales breaching from the front porch. Great walk/bike path right there. Friendly neighbors who stopped to chat. Ten minute walk to swimming beach. Fifteen minute walk to shave ice!! Nicely equipped kitchen, grill and water/beach toys. Great open floor plan so everyone can talk while cooking. Local owners very responsive and friendly and keep the house well maintained. Good central location on island. We'd come back.

We spent a week at this delightful cottage in Kapaa. The home is so comfortable and decorated so well. The view was gorgeous. We spent hours on the front porch watching the waves roll in and seeing whales. The location is excellent being close to town, the walking/biking path and restaurants. The owners were very friendly and helpful as was their daughter/manager Jessica. Loved our visit here and hoping to come back soon!!

As advertised, the perfect location for easy access to trails, beach, food, and shopping all within walking distance. Great kitchen, lots of space, and an amazing sunrise view from the porch. Any minor issues we had were immediately resolved by the property manager, and they were happy to suggest great places to eat and snorkel.

Kauai is paradise--truly. And after active days of hiking, snorkeling, sailing, biking and beaching we would return to our beautiful cottage and be lulled to sleep by the surf and awoken by the glow of the morning sky as the sun rose. Morning tea and sunrise on the porch was a daily ritual. The amazing kitchen and grill allowed us to cook most of our breakfasts and evening meals. The absolute highlight though was our last evening when a humpback whale played out front for more than an hour, raising its fins and slapping its tale (at least 50 times--we counted). We went home to Minnesota refreshed, restored and committed to return. Mahalo!

House was just as described (we rented the house and the cottage). Great location along the bike/walking path. Our favorite part was sitting on the lawn in the lounge chairs for coffee and happy hour with a beautiful ocean view. Plenty of beach towels, toys, chairs and umbrellas for guest to use. Grocery stores and restaurants were within walking distance. Host and property manager were available and easy to communicate with.

Had a great time at this beautiful home! A nice quiet street with easy access to the beach and far enough away from the big resorts and all the tourists!

Beautifully furnished rental

The cottage is lovely and relaxing, which was exactly what we needed, and is in a great location to access the island. BUT, the view is AMAZING. Each morning you can sit on the porch or in a chair on the lawn and watch the sunrise and it is truly spectacular. What a wonderful way to start each and every day while you're on vacation. Susan and Jessica are so helpful both with recommendations and anything related to the house. We very much hope we can return.

Lovely house with beautiful views! Loved the bike/ walking trail in front of the house! We took long walks everyday along the beautiful ocean. The location was great for touring the island. Nice kitchen. We ate in for a couple meals most days. Highly recommend this lovely home.

This home is every bit as beautiful as the pictures appear, and feels like a home, not a rental property. Our group of two families fit comfortably, with one couple staying in the moonrise cottage. The owner is lovely and responsive, and the home has everything needed for a great beach vacation. Sitting on the porch for morning coffee with the ocean view and the breeze is a special way to start each day. We feel lucky to have stayed at this home.

We enjoyed staying at the Sunrise Cottage for 10 days with our three daughters. The house is so beautiful, perfectly appointed (especially the kitchen), and it was extremely comfortable. We rented bikes for the amazing bike path right outside and so enjoyed walking out the front door to the ocean each day. Susan, Charlie, and their daughter, Jessica, are great people and perfect hosts.

This was an ideal place to stay for our family of five on the east side of the island in Kapaa. The morning sunrise views and being so close to the ocean was priceless. Charlie and Susan were very hospitable and quickly responded to any questions or concerns we had and also had the opportunity to meet them as they frequent the island often. We would highly recommend this place if you want to be in the middle which is not too too far from the north or Hanalei Bay and the Kalalau Trail are and not too far from the other side of the island where Waimea Canyon is.

We really enjoyed our time at this house. The location was great- right on a bike path, overlooking the water- and we especially loved drinking coffee on the porch and watching the world go by. The bathrooms could use some updating, but otherwise the house was great.

This lovely house exceeded our expectations! It was very well maintained and managed. Communication was great. When we had a bit of trouble figuring out an old-fashioned lock, Amber arrived within minutes to show us how it worked. The view is fantastic!

The Sunrise Cottage is our style of beach accommodation - we immediately felt at home and enjoyed every minute of our stay. We found the location to be ideal for accessing the North and South shores. Our favorite part of the neighborhood was the multi-use path that runs along the ocean for miles and miles to the North. We particularly loved the part past Kealia Beach for its solitude. We plan to return to Kauai and would base our travel schedule on making sure we can stay at the Sunrise.
