GREAT PLACE

House was lovely and perfect for a family vacation. Kids had a blast fishing and playing with the water toys. Adults enjoyed the family time. It was wonderfully relaxing. Convenient location to Marina’s and grocery. Chuck reached out to us to make sure everything was good to go! Would highly recommend.

Had a great vacation with our family- the house was clean and well kept! Enjoyed grilling out, playing pool, and relaxing in the hot tub. The 2 large entertainment areas upstairs and downstairs with sectionals were great for conversation, board games, and TV. Boat friendly - we used Hales Ford Boat Ramp about 15-20 minutes away to put in and pull out of the water, and tied up to the floating dock at the house during our stay. House is at the end of a cove in a no-wake zone, so no problems with docking in the water. Restaurant with docking and on-water ethanol free gas are very close in the same cove. Bridgewater plaza is a short boat ride away and has plenty of restaurants, shopping, and activities!

We were very impressed with this property. The driveway is very steep but it did cut down on the walk to the dock/lake which we appreciated. The walkway to the dock was great also as it was stone and graded. We appreciated having electricity and the mini fridge at the dock as well. Jake's Place which is right around the corner (on the water) from the house and a great restaurant to visit. We had plenty of space for everyone and the house was gorgeous! The downstairs was huge and very open with lots of gaming choices to keep everyone happy. We also appreciated having access to the garage for a place to keep groceries and extra lake things. Lastly the house is centrally located with easy access to Food Lion and Bridgewater Plaza.

We had such a great time during our week at this property. I couldn't believe how huge the dock was, table and chairs and recliners and everything. We hung out in the dock in the shade, or floated in the sun. We rented a boat and were able to find great skiing right outside of the no wake zone. They even provided kayaks, and just down the cove we saw egrets, deer, turtles and all kinds of birds. At night the kids enjoyed the pool table, hot tub, and ping pong, there was plenty of space to spread out and something for everyone. The kitchen was well laid out and very functional. There was a nice outdoor table (under cover) for family outdoor meals and also a big table indoors if it was too hot. A/C worked great, beds were comfy, bathrooms were nice, owner was responsive to questions. No complaints!

House and location was great. Clean, spacious, and everything you would need for a fun vacation. Dock was perfect for the kids with kayaks and a canoe and swimming. Would highly recommend ❤️

Wonderful house/property! Chuck and Samantha were great to communicate with and very helpful. We had three separate families throughout the week and the layout of the house is very conducive for either everyone being together or for splitting into different groups at times. Being in the wake free cove is so nice for activities right off the dock (SUP, kayak/canoe, swimming and fishing). But the end of the no wake zone is only a few minutes away. Smith Mountain Lake is beautiful! And very large. We look forward to many more vacations at the property!!!

This property was great to rent for the week. It was clean, comfortable and a great layout for 2 families. The kids loved the downstairs entertainment.

Beautiful kitchen, lovely cove, clean and lots of activities. There was enough room for the family to spread out and have a great time together. Location was good, close to shops and restaurants but also very private and peaceful, definitely recommend.

We stayed in September of 2020. The house is beautiful and well-appointed. We noticed the care taken to decorate and care for this property. We were delighted that it was spacious and immaculate. Everything we needed for our stay was available (with the exception of a hand mixer...we purchased an inexpensive one and after use, left it for future guests). This is a lovely home that is well cared for and very comfortable. If you have a large family and a small group, this house is perfect for your getaway! House and property beautiful. Kitchen equipped extremely well. Walk to lake very manageable even for 2 80+ yo's. Owners very responsive and tried to get all problems fixed. If size of our party doesn't change would like to return next year. Au. 15, 2020

Great house. Very nice dock. Big deck perfect for barbequing. Hot tub was fun. Easy walk to the water. Large basement with pool table although the weather was so nice we were rarely inside.

We had a wonderful time visiting SML. Home is a great layout with tons of space. Hot tub was hit as well as pool table, kayaks and of course the lake. Home was very clean and had everything we needed to cook meals every night. We rented our linens from Lake Linen Service Which was great. We enjoyed fishing and caught catfish, a few stripers and a bunch of sunnies from the dock. We used Captains Quarters for our boat rental for the week and that was the highlight for us. Going tubing and evening boat rides everyday. We created many memories for our family on this trip. Communication with the owners was great. Quick to respond and easy to get ahold of.

We have been coming to Smith Mountain lake for the past 20 years for summer vacation with our gang. We have always stayed in rental homes or condos. We can say that the location and layout of this house was wonderful. We had plenty of room for everyone. The extra was the hot tub everyone enjoyed. We are just sad we had never rented this place before now. It’s right across from Jakes Place. We can’t wait until next year. Great rental!!!!

Clean, great location on water, great dock and CLEAN!!!!

Very nice amenities. Well maintained home. Prime location for boaters and PWC. Ample turnaround space for trailer and parking.. Close to food and 24hr gas for boating. Relaxing atmosphere.

Everything you need at this house for an enjoyable holiday with family and friends.

We enjoyed our stay at the Frances, had a few things noticed and took pics for Chuck, Coffee maker didn't work but bought new one and he said would cover it. Plenty of room for all, lay out nice,too. Cooked in some and went out some- enjoyed Heath's Grill , Mangos, Lagos pizza, karaoke thurs night at Mangos great fun. Fireworks most evenings. Downside is RV park across water and they are territorial about Not going on their side! so noisy all day but house insulated so didn't hear once inside.Dock our favorite place to hang out all day and night- caught and released many fish- 2 huge carp also-our challenge for week! Plenty of chairs all over,too- thanks for sharing your home- Charlottesville fam

Hi Chuck and Julie, First, I'd like to apologize for writing this so long after our stay. Which was 3/25 - 4/3/16. I lost my dad. This is actually why we took this last minute trip. The house is amazing, so, you deserve this review. The drive from Indiana to the house was great btw. The weather turned out much better than expected as well! The property is absolutely wonderful. From the steep drive to the dock. Contact began with Chuck. He's great! We arranged everything through Homeaway and email. We made direct payment with no problem. Final contact and arrangements were finalized with Julie. She is very thorough, answering all of my messages quickly as well. We received our deposit back in a timely manner. Just a few suggestions for your stay. You will need to supply your own sheets and all types of towels... etc. They do have a 3rd party that you can rent from. I found it to be more valuable to buy our own. They don't have trash collection. The owners suggest that you use the Moneta Recycle Center. Info can be found in the kitchen. The kitchen is well stocked. Personally, I wish I brought my large electric skillet but we got by. We grilled out most of the time. We did get carry out from Vinny's... pretty good Italian for a chain. The hot tub is amazing and out under the stars! Loved the rec room too. It's been awhile since we have played pool, taught the kids a lesson or two. Fishing is great, right off the dock! We caught plenty keepers, many catch and release and even (lost a couple trophies) gained a couple stories...lol! You do need a licence. You can easily get it online, go to... dgif.virginia.gov/fishing . I hope this helps you in your decision to rent this property. You won't be disappointed, so, what are you waiting for. The Frances at Bridgewater will be my go to place for Smith Mountain Lake trips from this point forward. Everything you need is there for you. The owner was super helpful when I had lost track of my entry information and had no service for emails. He was easy to reach and didn't bother us during the duration of our stay. This was our first family getaway in about 15 years and everyone made it. We had ages ranging from 5 to 55 literally and everyone was more than satisfied. My children didn't ask me for my phone or any electronics the entire time we there. All of the kids learned how to kayak and we really enjoyed that. They lived in swim suites and bare feet all weekend ready to jump in at anytime. Being right across from Jakes place to fill up the boat with fuel and have a few fun nights was convenient as well. The kitchen was completely stocked for everything you may need. We used Lake Linen service which was also amazing. My mom enjoyed the upper deck while my dad enjoyed canoeing(provided) and the dock which gave great fishing opportunity (perch and catfish among others were biting all weekend). Everyone enjoyed the hot tub which came in very handy on Sunday when it rained most of the day. The game room and air hockey table and pool table came in good use that day as well. We had a very relaxing and fun weekend all around and I am ready to get back to this lake oasis.

This was our time to SML. We were only there over the weekend and it rained most of the time. However, we still had an amazing getaway. I work in the home improvement industry and notice all things building related. From the boathouse to the landscaping to the furnishings, everything was really nicely done, which made us feel at home immediately. There is a ton of room in this home. We liked it so much that we may have our family get togethers there at some point this summer. If so, or whenever we visit SML, I will not even look for another property. Remember to bring your own sheets.

Loved the house and the entertainment area. A wonderful home to stay in while we celebrated my daughters graduation. The owner went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Could not have asked for a better weekend. Kayaks and canoe was an added bonus! Thank you so much.

We spent our Thanksgiving holiday at this home and had a wonderful stay. The property is warm and inviting from the moment you pull in the driveway. The condition is excellent both inside and out, showing pride of ownership. The home was clean and neat upon arrival, allowing us to walk in and begin to enjoy our time immediately. Floor plan is laid out well for a group with 3 bedrooms up and one down; living area up and down and both provide easy access to outdoors. The house is well equipped with anything you may need provided in the kitchen, game tables in the lower level, hot tub, boat house and dock with water toys to enjoy. While the house provides plenty of privacy and a beautiful view, the location is very near grocery, banks, salons, restaurants etc, offering the best of both worlds. Finally, we truly enjoyed working with the owners. They are very kind and accommodating, making the whole transaction terrific.

Our family has spent the last two summers gathering at this wonderful house. We loved the decor, the way the bedrooms are arranged, and the amenities of the porches, hot tub, dock, and kayaks! Situated at the end of a long, steep hill, the house affords privacy. Everything in the house was convenient with plenty of space to entertain and spread out inside and out.

Our family of 6 had the perfect summer vacation at this wonderful home. The home is in a great location. Looking at the pictures on the website, we were expecting a beautiful home, but our expectations were exceeded when we arrived. The walk to the dock is an easy one, unlike other places we have stayed on the lake. The home has obviously been well taken care of. Everything was extremely clean and up to date. The hot tub was an added bonus! Our kids enjoyed it each night we were there! We also appreciated the use of the kayaks and canoe. We had so much fun with them! We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Chuck and his wife. They were both very nice to work with and made sure we knew if we needed anything at all, to not hesitate to call and ask. We will definitely be returning to this awesome place!
