My husband and I, and our little old dog, enjoyed five blissful days at this lovely home that contained everything we needed. A short walk from the main street and in close proximity to so many beautiful places. Highly, higlhy recommended.

A great property walking distance to the centre of town. Very comfortable with large indoor/outdoor area which we spent time in relaxing, eating, throwing a ball for the dog.
The town was lovely and has a very nice craft shop and many eateries. The beaches are great.Very relaxing.

Mutton Bird Cottage provided the perfect base for my partner and I and a friend while we participated in the 2024 Port Fairy Jazz Festival. The house itself was well appointed, clean and friendly. It was perfectly located, only one block away from the main street and all of the music venues, yet it was far enough to be peaceful and perfectly quiet at night. It was also within easy walking distance of the wharf and the island, where one evening we stayed to watch the mutton birds return for the night. We would be happy to recommend Mutton Bird Cottage and to stay there ourselves when we visit for Festivals in the future.

We have been visiting Port Fairy over the summer holidays for around 25 years.
During that time we have both camped and stayed in holiday houses.
Mutton Bird Cottage definitely ticked all our boxes with this stay.Our Labrador, Dudley loved his stay as much as we did.Especialy the terracotta pot, and sprinkler on the hot days!
The house was absolutely spotless, but furnished in a way that we also felt at ease having our large puppy with us.
The position of the property was really close to shops and easy access to both East and then South Beach.Our daughter enjoyed also having a queensize bed, the rainwater shower and the spa bath.
My husband and I loved the huge outdoor living space and well appointed kitchen.
Truely can't fault this property and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a really comfortable stay in Port Fairy during all seasons.

The location is wonderfull right around the corner are the shops and restaurants! And we enjoyed Griffith’s Island very much: we saw the Mutton birds at dusk and there were hundreds! And we were the only ones on the island that evening! It is a spectacular place and view!

Central location, easy walking to the shops
A wonderfully presented cottage with a great outside fireplace to sit around and chat.
With the main street just around the corner, you can't go past the ice cream shop across the road.

Perfect in so many ways.
We loved our stay at Mutton bird cottage. It felt very homely, very clean and was in a central location. We loved the outdoor/indoor area where we had breakfast every morning while watching tv. We lit the fire which was great. This out door area and the back yard was such a bonus. We have 2 small dogs and they loved it.
We are booked in to return for another stay and have no hesitation in recommending this delightful property.

Fantastic two night getaway
Fantastic house, just around the corner from the main street of Port Fairy. Very clean and comfortable for our family, including heaps of room for the dog in the spacious yard. Our kids loved all the games and books provided. Great outdoor entertaining space with an open fire, shame it was a little too cold to use.

We had a family of 8 plus 2 dogs and had an awesome stay at Muttonbird Cottage. Such a pretty cottage and gorgeous garden. Fantastic outdoor entertaining area and great garden for dogs. Close to everything and Pea Soup beach dog friendly. We all really enjoyed our stay.

Best ever holiday let experience
Beautiful property, well thought out, spotlessly clean (But not scary clean) . Homely touches exactly the right thing you needed around every corner, this is a great choice for family or couple. Location also amazing.

Weather failed but, stay was excellent.
Port Fairy is a quaint little coastal town with cute historic stone and weatherboard cottages, of which Mutton Bird Cottage is one; cosy, surrounded by roses and hollyhocks and opposite the ice creamery, closed during our stay in early December (too cold), but would be wonderful in high summer. Just around the corner from the main street full of an array of ecclectic shops and a convenient IGA. Dined at Time and Tide and Merrijig both highly recommended, drove across to Mt Gambier and back in a day to see the blue lake and the Umpherston sinkhole garden and lunch at Sorrento restaurant . Stay was particularly special as it was accessible to two guests with mobility issues, two bathrooms, very well equipped kitchen, but two steps down to loungeroom at front of house would not be suitable for wheelchair. If you are looking for a comfortable conveniently located holiday house, we would not hesitate to recommend it.

We had a wonderful time .
We truly enjoyed our time at the Mutton bird Cottage. It was very well equipped, comfortable and very pretty. So nice to stay in a beautifully restored historic cottage. The gardens were also a delight, reflecting the seaside theme. Our little dog Honey was very happy too. This was an outstanding holiday destination for us , thank you so much.
