Had a wonderful time at this quiet getaway.

We enjoyed our yearly week at the lake with all of our family. We had plenty of room in the house for all of us. The location has an “out of the way” feel, but is only 5 minutes to the bridge by boat and 15 to the grocery store by car. Definitely a good week.

The Bower House had everything to ensure a great family vacation...fully equipped kitchen, cleanliness, beautiful dock/swimming area, all kinds of water equipment in the boathouse, and an easy walk to the water. April was very prompt in answering questions. It was a perfect vacation!

I loved this cabin and I will definitely be returning!

I like to treat the staff and their spouses to a weekend getaway once a year. This was the ideal house. Ample seating both upstairs and downstairs. Both porches were also well equipped with outside furniture. The house was very clean and the kitchen had everything. We will be booking again for next year.

My family of 7 were here for 2 days to attend a wedding in Vinton. I wish we had more time to stay longer and enjoy this lovely home on the lake. It was comfortable and roomy. Everything we needed was there. The downside was having to be out by 10:00 A.M. while having to launder the towels before leaving. Also having to dispose the trash at an off site location. But I would still love to come back.

We did a girls weekend with my daughters and toddler granddaughters. The view was lovely and would be perfect for people that just want to relax, read and sip wine. However, with small kids there was nothing near by to do. The nearest playground was about 1/2 hour away. Even hiking was about 1/2 hour drive away. We did not see any stores or nice restaurants. The place was very clean but the furnishing were dated. The kitchen had plenty of plates, glasses and utensils. However, you need to be aware that for preparing meals, you must bring your own food, including basic pantry items. There was no cooking spray, oil, spices, sugar or flour. Also you must take your trash with you to the dump. I would consider staying again with just older adults who are looking to just relax and appreciate the view and making sure we pack all our provisions.

Nice lake location for or boat as well as good dock to Moor. House clean and cosy. Fit our family well. We had a great weekend.

Only complaint is having to take trash to some location. That’s just wrong!

An absolutely wonderful weekend getaway. I truly appreciated having immediate access to all the amenities needed to make this weekend a peaceful success such as cookware, linen, indoor and outdoor games.

This was our 2nd vacation stay at this property. As always it was and is a great experience. The weather was perfect we did have 1 day of rain in the morning but that was okay we rested up till it blew away and back on the water we went.

PROS: Great, well kept house. Kitchen fully stocked for many guests. Two and a half bathrooms for 8 adults. Water heater never ran out of hot water. Upper and lower covered decks for sitting out anytime to take in the view of the lake. Plenty of outdoor seating. Very short and easy walk to the dock with all it's amenities. Dining area seats 6 comfortably for meals with plenty of tables and chairs on the upper covered deck for overflow seating for meals. Spacious bedrooms that sleeps 8 comfortably. Very nice family room area in the lower level for watching movies, putting together puzzles, or playing games on a rainy day. Undoubtedly a GREAT house to stay in. CONS: bathroom towels are hotel room quality. Could use an upgrade. Beds are old and uncomfortable. They need to be replaced. No trash service. You have to haul the trash to a dump site 20 minutes away a couple times a week. I would pay extra in the fee for trach service. Lower level bedroom has the water filtration system in the closet that goes off in the middle of the night. Be prepared to be woken up for at least 40 minutes while the system goes through it's process. (We specifically asked to have the filtration system timer set to go off during the day and we received confirmation that this was resolved and for two nights we had to listen to the system flushing for 40 minutes). Check the dishes before using. Some dishes were not cleaned properly before being put away from the last group staying at the property.

My family and I stay at the Bower House every year. The location on the lake is excellent and the house is spacious and cozy without being fussy. we love dinners on the covered porch and evenings on the dock.

As always we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house. Great house, great location and lots of room.

Travelled with my 17yo boy, twin 11 year old girls and 2 best friends- best trip ever. It was pure joy to see everyone floating from the docks, laughing and playing together. Thank you so much. Plenty of room for everyone. Clean and well kept. Will definitely come back!

Wonderful place to stay.

Lovely days swimming off the dock, lounging and eating on the 2 decks and kayaking. I would give that part of the stay 5 stars. The things we found to be problematic. The beds. With the exception of the master bedroom, the mattresses were beyond the replacement date, well beyond!! The people staying downstairs in the 2 bedrooms, left one day early due to the back and neck aches from sleeping. The floating dock. This needs attention. At one of the pylons the bolts are loose creating a very dangerous situation which almost threw us off the dock when boats passed by and created wake. The kayaks. Two were available and one of those had no foot rests. The third did not have a back rest. We did fashion a repair of sorts. This helped. We then had two decent kayaks. The poor mattresses and the floating dock were the biggest problems. Not everyone kayaks. I would give sleeping and trying to navigate the floating dock 21/2 stars. I can tell this is a warm well loved home. With just some better mattresses and bolt tightening it would be 5 stars. The owner has ordered a replacement back for the kayak.

The house was everything I wanted

Nicely stocked as far as utensils and kitchen ware. Make sure to bring everything you need to cook. There are no spices, oil, sugar or extras. The linens and furniture could use an update but the porch and view are worth it !!! We hope to come back again soon!

Perfect

Great place for rest and relaxation. Enjoyed watching the wildlife that lives there. Lots of sitting areas to spread out in and enjoy the view of the lake.

The first driveway is large enough for a truck and bass boat/trailer and is close enough to the house to run electrical to charge the batteries overnight. All of the major ramps are only 30 minutes away. The dock down the back yard was wonderful for lounging after hard days of fishing. The property was clean and organized. I'll be booking this house again for future tournaments.

The property was perfect for our stay. The cabin has everything you could need. Plenty of space for our party of 8 and was very clean and well cared for. Property manager was easy to reach and responsive

We so enjoyed our week at the lake. April made everything convenient and smooth. Fish fry night was amazing from the catfish caught off the dock. We all kind of do our own thing, some fish out of the boat, some fish off the dock and some simply read and enjoy the view, with all of us meeting up in the evenings for dinner. Such a comfortable home to enjoy our time away! Thank you April!

The Bower House was excellent It was very clean, well stocked and for us a great base to fish from.. The fishing could have been better but April and the Bower House provided a great 4 generation family vacation.

Just about everything one could need for a multi-family vacation. Heavy morning fog on the lake departure day was icing on the cake.

This house was awesome. Each room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The kitchen was full of all kitchen equipment needed. And the view and the location is awesome. At the boathouse they even had water equipment that was available to use. We rented a boat for a couple of days and it worked out awesome! We definitely plan on returning.

Perfect for our groups needs. House is well stocked!! Plenty of seating areas inside and out to satisfy anyone!

We had an amazing family vacation staying in Goodview. The upper and lower covered decks has plenty of space with three tables, twelve chairs, a swing, and plenty of lounge chairs to sit at to watch the boats on the lake and also quiet enough for reading and family time together. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need for your stay. The bedrooms were very spacious and the two and a half bathrooms were clean and fully stocked with towels and sundry items. The dock accommodated our two jet skis and pontoon boat rental. We spent 70 % of the days there just floating and relaxing around the dock area. The dock was stocked with water toys (Life jackets, kayaks, and many other items for fun in the water). We are already reserved for next year and hoping we can make this an annual family event!

2 adults, 4 kids House sleeps everyone comfortably. We rent a boat at bridgewater marina and dock it at the house. We plan to be back next year!

The owner was very friendly and responded quickly. The house was better than expected. Well decorated, maintained and clean. Extremely well stocked for cooking and grilling. The shady area at the dock was nice for the hot July days, the swimming was excellent and the boat house made it so we didn't have to carry floats and supplies back and forth from the house. Three of us have weight/knee issues and getting out of the water was a bit difficult, but the walk to and from the house wasn't bad. If it had steps or a slightly more angled ladder it would have been pure heaven for us older folks, of course we still loved it, we just couldn't hop in and out like the young ones. We highly reccomend this place.
