We had a great time staying at MauiJoy! Teri, (host/owner) is so thoughtful and helpful. Gave us tons of advice well in advance so we could make reservations at popular spots in time. This is thus far the best VRBO we have stayed at in terms of ensuring every possible thing we could need was already on site at the house for our stay apart from groceries. And the views! Watching whales with our binoculars frolic in the Pacific was amazing. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Location is perfect. Short drive to beaches, restaurants, shopping etc. New Year’s fireworks watched from pool deck/lanai were fantastic. Rented full house which allowed each teenager (3) to have own bed (one was sofa bed in living room). Can’t wait to go back! Definitely 5 stars!

Maui Joy is an amazing place with beautiful views of the ocean and Molokini crater. The pool is amazing after a morning of exploring the islands. The kitchen has everything you need to make meals. Grocery stores are close by, Wailea, Lahaina and Kehei are fun places to explore and not far. Costco, Target and other 'large chain' type stores are about a 30 minute drive one way. The house is up on a hill in a quiet neighborhood and you can't see the neighbors due to the amazing lush tropical landscape. Teri is a fantastic host that makes sure you have everything you need to enjoy your stay and is very knowledgeable about the area and has lots of suggestions and tips. 10 out 10 would recommend this place and will totally return!

Everything was better than expected, wish we would gave stayed longer. Fantastic host with great attention to detail! High end kitchen appliances and accessories (vitamix blender, 14cup coffee maker) made our group stay a joy!

This was the perfect spot to celebrate 60 years on this planet. Comfortable beds, air conditioning, well stocked kitchen, and our own pool! It doesn't get much better than that. The host lives on the property, per law, so she's available, if needed. There is a wonderful view, lots of beautiful birds, and cute little geckos! We can't wait to come back again.

We enjoyed our stay, loved the pool and the view. House is very well equipped, had everything we needed during our stay. Great location to stay in or go shopping. We spent most of our time relaxing in and by the pool, but ventured out a few days as well, drives were reasonable time away. Teri was helpful, we enjoyed visiting with her. Lovely week, would have loved to stay longer, or make a return trip.

What an amazing vacation we had! Our family loves Maui and to find such a special hidden Gem of a home to enjoy while we were there was so special. The home is so relaxing, clean and has everything you will need for your stay. The pool and very was absolutely what we were looking for. My teens prefer having the pool to ourselves and being able to relax. The flowers, gardens, trees and birds really helped you enjoy the tropical surroundings. Thank you to the owner for making this stay so special. We will be back!

This was a perfect house for our family. The outside lanai area is stunning- the gardens are beautiful and full of fruit bearing trees (best bananas ever), the pool and surrounding patio is the best place to relax, enjoy and listen to the birds. The house layout was great for each of our teens to have their own space but great shared area as well for dinner, TV time etc. Teri is a fabulous host! She was incredibly accommodating of our delayed schedule, willingness to accept packages ahead of time and provision of general knowledge about the island and her home. Beaches are not quite walkable but easy drive/park to beautiful locations. We would stay again 100X over and will recomend to anyone traveling to Maui.

My family of 5 had a wonderful stay at MauiJoy. We really enjoyed the grounds, including the pool, the beautiful flowers, fruit trees, and plants, lizards, etc. The home had everything we needed and then some. The beds were comfortable, and the A/C units worked well to keep us cool at night. We loved the quiet location away from the busy tourist areas but close enough that a short drive took us to the beaches, restaurants, and shops.

Mahalo for a wonderful opportunity to stay in your abode. A warm Aloha greeting with leis greeted us upon arrival. ( something we don't see in our vacation club stays ) Your home was private, warm, and inviting offering all the conveniences of home. We didn't need anything except for coffee, ice cream and some groceries. What an awesome treat to experience living Maui in a mountain side neighborhood. The pool and views of the water were heaven. Conveniences to Wailea and Kihei providing treats to local foods and sights made the time pass even faster. Monkeypod, shaved ice, fat daddys and more provided fabulous food enjoyment. You can't go wrong with Terri's home to recharge your batteries.

This place is great if you aren’t into crowds and noise. It’s quiet, beautiful view, perfect for kids to be able to play outside in the yard. We loved our stay and would definitely come back!

Title says it all. Awesome views, landscaping, location, cookware, bedding, books, games, tv, pool, washer/dryer, a/c, two cooking areas (one for prep and one for cooking). Lots of privacy. Great hostess.

I came to Maui with my 2 adult daughters to attend a wedding. I chose MauiJOY as I wanted a more relaxed atmosphere than a hotel and especially our own pool to swim and lounge. The host, Teri, was lovely and so gracious on our arrival as our car rental was severely delayed. The house is beautiful, very clean and neat and is stocked with everything you need. The kitchen is fully stocked, including spices, sugar, coffee :). The grounds are just gorgeous! I loved all the tropical plants surrounding the house and the peaceful lower yard to meditate. The beds were so comfortable, I think I slept better here than I do at home! My favorite part of the day was early morning- sipping coffee on the lanai looking out over the ocean, cool breezes toying with my hair as I listened to the many birds singing and eagerly chatting. with one another. The home is just 7 min from the Four Seasons, where the wedding was held and an easy drive to other locations such as Big Beach, Lahaina and Whaler's Village in Kaanapali. Lots of restaurants and shops close by in Kihei and Wailea. Other members of my family were also on the island for the wedding and my brother and his children came over to BBQ and swim with us. They loved it too and wished they were staying with us. I would highly recommend MauiJOY Villa and look forward to coming back again one day. Thank you Teri for sharing your lovely home! Mahalo!

Stayed here with my family of 4. Could not be happier! Loved having our own pool to play in day or night, the jacuzzi tub, the multitude of birds and lizards that kept everyone entertained, the fresh bananas and mangoes, grill, games, the list goes on and on. Once settled we rarely had to travel out, except to collect groceries and go on little day trips. Big beach is only a short drive away and local snorkeling is awesome. When we’re back on Maui, we’ll be sure to return to Maui Joy!!

Mauijoy was absolutely amazing!! We would recommend this place to our closes family and friends and to anyone who is looking for a peaceful place to be with family. This place beats any hotel and resort by a landslide and we are so happy that we chose this over anything else. If you are looking for a place to be with your family, private swimming pool, nature at your doorstep, various Hawaiian fruit trees, and being close to beaches, then this is the place you should be at. The drive to the beach was about 5 minutes away. So convenient. Terri was also a very nice host and easily approachable. She gave us tips on where to visit that only the locals know about. This turned out to be one of our best family vacations mainly because of this MauiJoy villa! We will definitely be returning!

This home was perfect for our stay. Teri was great at having anything we needed available and at the same time gave us all the privacy we needed. The view from the lanai is amazing and the pool was great. It was easy to get anywhere we needed to go for the days adventures. We would definitely stay here again!

After 2 Covid-19 reschedules, we finally got to Maui Joy. What a place! Great accommodations, great views, fresh cut bananas, and a special landlord Teri! We thoroughly enjoyed our week of pool, sun, and excursions. Teri was very knowledgeable of the area and provided good information on where to go for groceries, restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing. We truly enjoyed the week and would definitely return to Maui Joy for another vacation.

Teri was an amazing host! This property is just as described, but even better. She has added nice touches everywhere and seems to anticipate her guests needs and what will add comfort and ease to the vacation. Much exceeded our expectations. Mahalo!

Our family of 5 was able to negotiate the Covid hoops and stayed here during the week of Thanksgiving. The best way to summarize our experience with this house is that instead of heading down to the beach, my wife and 2 of our kids preferred stay and play in the pool and enjoy the amazing views from the lanai (patio) instead of going to the beach on all but one day while we were there. The property location is perfect with just a short drive to Kihei and Wailea for groceries or to have food delivered. While the rest of our family relaxed at the pool, my son and I could pop down to Kihei to rent gear and do some shore diving (Ulua Beach ~7 min.; Mekena Landing ~10 min.) and easily be back for lunch.The property's expansive views (my wife's favorite feature of the house) are amazing and a perfect location for morning coffee or evening sundowners. From the top lanai and pool area you can see all the way from West Maui, Lanai and down to Molokini (the latter being slightly obscured by neighbor's trees). Behind and below the pool, which is just off the lanai, is a large tree covered yard with even more impressive views of Molikini and Kaho'olawe. The pool itself was a bit chilly but once in you got used to it quickly. The house has a large amount of pool toys and floaties too. The lanai has a large table, nice lighting, couch/chairs/coffee table and lounge seating. There's also a large clean gas grill and grilling utinsels which we used several times. Additionally Teri, the owner, puts out bird feed every morning and we could sit and watch love birds, java sparrows, cardinals and many others throughout the day. We even saw a mongoose sneaking up on the birds.The house itself was perfect for our family of 5, with my teenage daughter having her own studio with futon, bathroom, larger tv and kitchenette (unused). You can get to this connected apartment through one of the bedrooms or an entrance from the patio. The main house has two rooms with kings, and an open plan living room (with small tv and pull out couch) , dining room and kitchen. The dining room has great views, though we ate outside on the large patio table almost exclusively. The kitchen and bathroom were extremely well stocked. There are plenty of books and card/board games available.Teri was excellent, not obtrusive at all, and ensured we had everything we needed. She also graciously allowed us to stay a few hours past checkout because of our late flight.Highly Recommended!

Two things make this property amazing: the view and the communication with the Owner. While we understand from other reviews that families like this property too we must say that as a newly married couple seeking some alone time this was a magnificent stay. The pool overlooks a private backyard and there are no neighbors on either side who have visibility into the property - so it is like you are on your own little island on an island. The grounds are beautiful and private. There is A/C which is great for the warm afternoons and a fully stocked kitchen with all tools needed. We will gladly stay here again.

Maui Joy Villa made our vacation absolutely perfect! When we weren't out exploring the island, shopping, or snorkeling, This beautiful house was a relaxing respite from all our activities. It was exceptionally clean and well appointed with everything we could possibly have needed. The lushness of the gardens were truly a wonderful and constant background to this gem of an oasis. And the views? All I can say is, how can you beat views of the mountains behind, and the ocean in front?!?! Teri was always there, answering any questions we had, quickly and thoroughly. And all the little daily things she did, such as leaving fresh mangos for us, meant a lot! Teri's home is a true oasis. My husband, 16 year old daughter and her cousin stayed. The girls absolutely loved it at Maui Joy and on the island of Maui. We all enjoyed ten days of pure bliss, staying at the Maui Joy Villa!

Never had such an experience like waking up to birds and cows along with fresh mangoes and bananas picked daily from the property. Great pool and seclusion from neighbors. Would gladly stay again!

We booked a last minute vacation to Maui and were very fortunate that this property was available. Luckily for us a previous booking had to be cancelled and we were able to scoop up this place before anyone else could. We were traveling with small children and the layout of the house, the pool, and the location of the property really drew us in. We fell in love with the property the very minute we arrived. Teri greeted us with the warmest of welcomes. She showed us everything we needed to know and also gave us local insights to beaches, activities, and restaurants. We now feel like she is a part of our family and my children continue to talk about her and miss her dearly. We hope to get back to Maui again one day and we will contact Teri directly about staying here again! Fabulous experience!

We had the most amazing stay at MauiJOY!!! Teri was the perfect hostess, adding every thoughtful detail you can imagine. Her home is beautiful, the views are stunning, it’s a quick drive to beaches and amazing shops, and the lovebirds constantly visiting the feeders are an added delight! We will miss this place so much, but mostly we will miss Mama T! ❤️

Upon arriving on the property, we instantly were greeted by the chirping of many different species of birds. The yard is covered in beautiful vibrant colored plants and flowers. We booked the whole home, as two families were staying, and it was perfect. There was enough room where we felt we had enough privacy between families. My family consisted of 2 adults and 2 children, ages 2 and 4, we were placed in the master bedroom that connects to another room with a kitchenette and bathroom. In the smaller room with the kitchenette, Teri, so thoughtfully, converted the futon into a bed and set up a queen sized inflatable mattress for them, which they would swap every other night, for fun. The other family consisted of 2 adults and a one-year-old, who comfortably stayed in a large bedroom with a crib. The kitchen was stocked with many spices and seasonings, that we really didn't need to purchase many others. There were kitchen gadgets and tools galore. Staying on the property, you can really see the effort made by Teri in making guests feel as comfortable as possible. My husband, who has a hard time sleeping at places other than his home, was surprised at how comfortable he was and was able to rest at night. I enjoyed the cozy robes, after a nice shower, and the large selection of books Teri has. It was always the perfect end to my evening. The swimming pool and the fruit trees in the garden were the cherries on top, at the property. We were fortunate enough to taste a few mangoes from the tree, since most were not ripe yet. DELICIOUS! This place was truly our home away from home and I pray we will return again someday.
