this is a great hotel, wonderful location on La Ropa beach, not touristy

Landscaping, beach, excellent staff in all areas.

The music (I use the term loosely) was mindless, inconsistent with promotion of relaxation, and tension-provoking. If it represents the “Thompson” brand, is no bueno. The Thompson brand needs to do better.

The location is not super close to the downtown area of Zihua, and probably a 5-10m taxi ride. The resort itself was exceptional and we loved almost everything about it. The pools are clean, the rooms are well-designed and spacious, and the food and drinks were also tasty. Staff was very nice and accommodating as well.

Very expensive. Prices are like San Francisco/New York City.

The breakfast was good. Good pillows. Great staff. Facilities on the beach were wonderful as was the food service there. Loved the fish tacos.

The restaurants at dinner need a bit more variety. Food was good but not exactly comfort food. Would like to have seen more traditional Mexican, not so fancy, at one of the restaurants at least. In our room, the only sitting was 2 chairs. The room could have used a comfortable love seat or padded chairs with ottomans and outside, it would have been nice to have a lounge or chair/ottoman.

check in was delayed - room not ready until 445 pm , door would not lock to patio , no other rooms available so had to wait for 2 hours in room while they fixed it . Air conditioner also required maintenance in our room and gym.

only glitch was no turn down service on one night of our stay…we tipped cleaning crew everyday and wifi not great, my boyfriend couldn’t work one day

Breakfasts options were good. Anything we ordered was very good. All staff were super friendly, service was excellent. Lawn furniture was very comfortable. Loved the extra touch of a dining table and two chairs adjacent to our loungers. Very nice to order lunch service and sit comfortably at a table rather than eat off your lap in a lounger or have to go to the beach restaurant daily. ALSO my wife left her IPAD in the room after we checked out and were at the Airport, when hotel txted us to advise they had sent the device in a taxi to the airport. Gave us taxi #, company and to meet driver outside. We were so appreciative we paid him generously.

We had a swim up suite. It was perfect, other than the one set of sliding doors that open to the walkway, stopped locking after a day. Maintenance came and fixed it, however within a day it was back to NOT locking.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

MEALS, PARTICULARLY DINNERS, WERE NOT ON PAR WITH EVERYTHING ELSE. FEE TO GET TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT SEEMS STEEP. SEEMS MOST GUESTS DID NOT HAVE DINNER THERE. TAXIS ARE CHEAP WITH MANY MEAL ALTERNATIVES NEARBY.

Amazing hotel … beautiful units, we stayed at a Garden Suite … The Continental Breakfast was good. Beautiful beach, good Gym, perfect pool, the beach furniture was a little bit disappointing … the service is great almost always …

the management (front desk) is sometimes isn’t service oriented …

We have stayed at this Hotel before, several times, when it was Villas del Sol, Viceroy, etc. It's a great hotel, with great service, location and design. We have loved it every time we stay there.

The hotel has been remodeled/updated. This is good and understandable. Unfortunately, the designer went for "international cool" instead of keeping or improving on the soul of this magnificent hotel and it';s original architecture and design. This is a wonderful example of elegant Mexican architecture in every detail: the arches, the gardens, the rooms, the p[alapas, the music that you would listen in the restaurant and bar. That was the spirit of the hotel: its Mexicanness. And that is exactly what they tried to eliminate. TOO BAD and UNFORTUNATE. Luckily, the "bones" of what it was, are still there. I hope, next time of remodeling, they keep in mind that when someone goes to Mexico, WANTS to feel that is staying in Mexico. Not in "another cool" place in the world. Your restaurant also reflect that lack of great Mexican, refiine taste. Who goes to Mexico to eat anything else than great Mexican food?

The location is just the best. Right on La Ropa beach. The hotel is beautifully designed with attention to all details and guest comfort. Loved the set up for dinners and live music - just beautiful at night.

I hope all the staff makes a decent pay. They make the difference. The prices are California prices, so the wages should reflect more than minimum Mexican wages.
