This is a perfect lakehouse getaway. There are two huge bay windows in this house that offer the most gorgeous sunrise views!! The dock is in really good condition with a very nice set of stairs off the dock that go into the water, making it an excellent kayak launch spot. You walk right down into the stairs, line your kayak up with the stairs and launch!! Easy peasy! This cottage is perfect for those that don't like a lot of stairs. It's all one level which is fantastic and can comfortably sleep several people! The kitchen is fully stocked with all the equipment needed to make great breakfasts and dinners, including a nice larger charcoal grill! There's a few great places to get all the grocery items you need for your stay that are only about 10 to 15 mins away. The dock has a bench on it at the end which is great for fishing and watching sunrises with a cup of coffee or tea. Right as you walk into the cottage, there is this beautiful coffee and espresso bar stocked with everything from mocha and caramel sauce to vanilla and salted caramel syrups. Great selection of teas and hot chocolate for non coffee drinkers too! There's a great selection of all different cute mugs for your coffee or tea beverage! Definitely will be a place I will stay again!

Beautiful lake view. very clean. communication with Judy and Dennis is very fast and clear. They checked up on us with a tx message wanting to know if everything was okay. We have been here multiple times and have always enjoyed our stay.

This is a must stay! The location, view, pier, and house was exactly like the pictures. I couldn’t have been happier! Judy was so great at communicating. We had a storm when we were there and the power went out and she was so good about keeping us updated on the restore. She really was a wonderful host and we loved our stay!

Our family of 5 had a wonderful week-long getaway at this property. This was our second stay, first time in the summer. The communication and information from Dennis and Judy leading up to our trip was super thorough and helpful. We already knew the home would have everything we needed and more... they have even thought of the little things that make stays better (luggage racks, lots of seating, hooks for towels everywhere, blankets). Being right on Castle Rock was perfect for our boating vacation. The lake is great for cruising and tubing and our girls learned to ski this trip in the morning hours. And, the view before you ever leave the cottage is beautiful. Great memories were made! Our family is already talking about making this an annual trip.

The Cottage view was FANTASTIC!!! Basically, there is two living rooms that both face the lake. One living room as two LARGE picture windows. Had all the amenities that anyone would need. Amenities from firewood, to coffee, grill, to aluminum foil. Great to be able to use the kayaks with ease. Would not change a thing!!!!

Wish the beds were made up with the sheets. Was kind of a puzzle finding which ones went where. Should have instructions on how do use the coffee machines. The people who drink coffee had a hard time using em. But everything else was great!! The view was excellent. Very comfy staying there. Would recommend it to anyone who is looking to staying in the area.

5 adults and a 3 year old. We had a nice time we were able to take a short drive to the Dells and do activities then come back for a relaxing evening or afternoon. Swimming was good and shallow enough for the 3 year old. Cottage was well equipped and clean and comfortable. It was nice to be able to stay out of the crowds of a hotel. Beautiful view.

Dennis and Judy are so easy to work with and very accommodating. The property itself is everything we could want for summertime fun on the water. We have already booked for next year. Highly recomend.

We stayed for a short 3 days and wished we could have more. Everything we needed and more. Right on the lake with swimming fishing and sunrise view. 1/2 mile from pontoon rentals convenient and great neighbor with help with any questions. Thank you for the hospitality we will be back

This is our 2nd time at the Speckman cottage and it was just as wonderful as the 1st time! Clean, cute cottage with an awesome view. Judy is wonderful to work with and the neighbor is so helpful and friendly. The only problem we had was the time at the cottage went by way too fast! Already looking forward to next year! Amazing memories were made!!
We had an amazing trip from start to finish! Never had any problems always had communication with the owners and they were so helpful! The lake house was so nice and clean and had so many things they even left for us to use! The biggest coffee “area” I’ve ever had! Kayaks for the kids to use! All the games and toys and seating for our family group! It was amazing and we made the best memories! Thank you and we hope to be back soon! Not one issue!! Except the night of rain lol!! Thanks guys!!

Perfect Family Vacation
Everything we could have wanted for our family getaway. I loved the quiet setting, peaceful sound of the waves, and the coffee bar. Husband enjoyed fishing from the pier and kayaking. Kids loved spending hours swimming in the lake and digging in the sand pit. The cottage is stocked with everything you need for a fun family getaway. It is clean and welcoming. Hosts are very friendly and provide excellent communication. The area is great as well- we would recommend Buckhorn State Park and Collin's Coffee. Great experience. We hope to return soon!

A Week at the Lake
This is our 3rd year staying at the Specman cottage. It is absolutely beautiful! I have really enjoyed my communications with Judy and she stays in touch and is easy to reach with any questions. She also has good ideas of things to do in the area.
Their cottage has accommodated all of our needs, from cooking both inside and out, sleeping arrangements and a great outdoor shower after coming in off the lake. They have a great table in the front living room for a competitive game of Mexican Train Dominos!
And then the lake, truly God’s country in every way!
The Specman cottage is an absolutely wonderful place to stay. We hope to spend time there again in 2023 😊! Thank you

The cabin is furnished very comfortably- like someone really lives here! It made it feel homey and relaxing. Well equipped; lots of room to enjoy a game, puzzle or looking at the lake. The hosts are wonderful and the neighbor too! The lake is big and a bit choppy from wind and boat traffic - so kayaking was a little challenging. The sunrise and birds were great. Forgot about the other gifts of nature - ticks and ants. Again - they have sprays,etc and that is the fun of a lake cabin in the woods. We look forward to going back!

Pure bliss every time!
Can not say enough about the home, owners, neighbors & of course the lake! We have enjoyed coming to the cottage for the last 5-6 years. We make it a point to come up at least once a year & it never disappoints. Just the best getaway, with the comforts of home, but the feel of vacation!

Fantastic lakeside home
We had a wonderful stay at this home. The home was clean and extremely well stocked. Everything you could need (or forget!) was provided and in ample supply so you wouldn't run out. This hasn't always been our experience in VRBOs and it was so welcoming and helpful. The coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar was amazing. The beds were firm but quite comfortable and linens and towels were plentiful. There are several games, puzzles, indoor and outdoor toys and kayaks. We focused on kayaking and fishing and had a great time doing both. We caught crappies and walleye right off the dock. The fire pit is also a lot of fun for cooler nights and the sunrises were great to watch. The hosts were extremely responsive and helpful.
The pump in the second bedroom didn't really impact our group at all as we all kept similar hours so there wasn't a lot of water use when people were sleeping and it is a very short time that it is on when it kicks in. We suspect using a fan would have blocked it out entirely.
We would definitely recommend this property for a fun lakeside exerience!

Best little getaway
We always enjoy a stay at the cottage. It is wonderfully taken care of & has everything little things g thought of. The neighbors are so kind & the owners are just so easy to work with. We enjoy our stays here always!

My 6 year old granddaughter's first fishing experience and she caught about 30 fish in the course of 5 days. We caught and released bluegill, small mouth bass, and catfish right from the dock. Parked our 20' pontoon boat at the dock the entire stay. It was great to be able to just go out, get in the boat, and tool around the lake. Total experience was awesome!! Would definitely recommend!! 5+ stars! Hope to stay here again next year.

Beautiful!
This property is beautiful inside and out. This is the second time we stayed at this location and our family just loves it. The cottage is perfect for our needs with all the cooking amenities that you would need, great sleeping and room to play board games and cards in the evening. We spent our days outside swimming, boating and some hiking in the surrounding areas - picnics in the front yard by the lake. Big hit again this year - the outdoor shower and the coffee bar for those that like a little Java in the morning. The owners of the property are great to work with and really want their guests to have a wonderful time. We would love to stay at this property again.
