My husband and I stayed here because we thought it was the perfect place…turns out it was the worst experience we have ever had. We have stayed at many rentals and have never had any issues let alone as many issues with this stay. The property owner should not be renting his casita because he was overbearing and controlling our entire stay. He wouldn’t let me blend up my shake in the mornings because he has a septic tank and thought the little particles would damage his tank (we have a septic tank too and have zero issues), he accused my husband of driving impaired because we couldn’t get his gate open and drove around, and he wrote us an extremely passive aggressive note that he placed on the counter. He said numerous things in his note which hopefully I’ll be able to attach in this review including saying he does not have a full kitchenette but in the property description it has full kitchenette listed. Unless you want someone micromanaging and watching your every move and to basically have to wash all your dishes out in the yard with a garden hose because god forbid there is a microbe of food that goes down the drain then don’t stay here!

The guest suite was perfect for us. It was comfortable, quiet and a great location for enjoying hiking and the National Park.

Resort-like experience for us. Great comfort, and we got far more in value than any 4-star hotel stay. Absolutely recommend this property and will try to stay there again!

Lovely stay; so quiet, peaceful and natural. Everything in the suite is of high quality. Good coffee included. Would stay again. It is a bit of a journey to town for dinner; and because of the dark skies mandate (which I LOVE) the country roads at night can be slow

Five Star stay as always
My wife and I have stayed at the "Desert House" for several years in a row and have never been disappointed. Thomas and Bonnie do a great job of taking care of the property we will be back !!!!!

Great stay
Thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day / 3 night stay. The casita was very clean, spacious and comfortable - excellent bed. Host provided all of the essentials for a relaxing stay. We especially liked his artwork! The location is far enough from the urban noise to enjoy some peace and quiet but was still easily accessible to all of the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show venues. Thanks, Tom!

We planned ahead knowing what the tiny but mighty kitchenette could accommodate for meals, including tending to the BBQ while watching sunset from the porch swing. It was an immaculate and well cared for space. The owners were super helpful and responsive to our questions, but they also gave us total privacy. We will definitely return.

We were able to relax on the back porch and visit all the places we loved within 20 minutes of everything for us. Gated and quiet neighborhood, would definitely come back, would have loved to use the pool maybe next time, thanks Thomas!

This was our second time staying at this property. So peaceful, clean and away from the city. The views of the mountains is spectacular. Easy to get to anywhere we needed to go. We love staying here. Tom and Bonnie are the best!

Very accommodating
The property was very nice, and close to many wonderful hiking trails. We had to leave early due to COVID-19, my advanced age and underlying health issues. The owner, Tom, was very accommodating by generously refunding the majority of what we paid. Tom wrote a check then and there on the spot as we left which was more than fair.

This was adorable! Roomy enough and private for the two of us. Very comfortable with a private covered porch to sit outside and enjoy nature. Enough kitchen items for simple meals and snacks.

What a joy to relax in this private abode, sip good coffee, and look out at saguaros in the desert landscape. The casita is much bigger than appears online, and was very well appointed. The pool looked inviting, but Tucson was having a cold snap so we hiked instead. The casita is near the scenic drive up Mt. Lemmon and beautiful creek-fed Sabino Canyon. About a 35-minute drive into downtown Tucson (but there are shops and restaurants close by). You’ll love this quiet getaway.

Lovely casita in the foothills
The property is rather far from downtown but we love it in the foothills. The casita was in a great location and we saw quite a bit of wildlife. I recommend this casita especially if you donot plan on being downtown daily and love being in the country

Absolutely splendid!
We have truly enjoyed our stay here. The guest house and grounds are perfect for us. Everything we could have possibly needed is in this large, comfortable space. It is furnished and decorated beautifully. We were in a beautiful area in the Catalina Foothills. Quiet but not remote which made going anywhere a breeze. Thomas was here should we have needed anything. I feel that he takes great pride in this entire property and it shows. Ed and I both agree that is the best property we've ever stayed in. We'd love to head west again!

Private space in fantastic location for hikers / nature exploration
We stayed for three nights in mid-February 2019. The property is situated on the NE corner of greater Tucson, close to the Catalina highway. We stayed here because of the proximity to Mount Lemmon and the Catalina mountains.
The space is detached from the owner's house. The owner is an artist and the walls are decorated with some nice examples of his work. There is plenty of room for two. The main space serves as sleeping quarters, and TV / lounge area. There is a back porch with seating and a BBQ. The kitchen area features a microwave, firdge and freezer. The only "odd" thing is that there is no kitchen sink; we stacked our dirties in a bowl and the owner took care of it from there; it was not an issue. the bathroom is spacious, the water pressure fine and the water hot. it takes a minute to warm up, a long feed pipe to the shower.
We would highly recommend the property if you want to be in this area of Tucson. It's a stretch to the downtown area, but not insurmountable.
