The place was beautiful. All amenities were met. The only hiccup was when I tried to have three people to visit me for a couple of hours, the husband came and YELLED at me, and kicked out my company. The contract only specifies about guests staying overnight (which none of them were - again - it was just a 2 hour visit) and parking - which could also have been remedied without the yelling and anger. He even threatened to call the cops before I could even process what was going on. He reveals that he was under a lot of stress because this was new to him, which I do have compassion for. I just think I could have been approached with more respect. His outrage was quite alarming.

Whalesong cottage is even better than the photos and description disclose. It was the perfect getaway for my boyfriend and I for a week. It is outside the normal range of the cruise ship crowds in Juneau, but still within easy reach. It is just north of Auke Bay where the fishing charters and whale watching tours depart from (do NOT pass up Forbidden Peaks Brewery for a meal and a beer), and just South of many of the trailheads for hiking / biking. We were lucky enough to see a small black bear browsing the blueberries around the cottage several times during our visit. He made himself scarce when he knew we were watching, as any good bear should. If there was a way to bearproof a hot tub, we would probably never leave. Julie and Rick are wonderful hosts with an amazing property and we are grateful they are happy to share it with us. Thank you!

We were in Alaska for funeral services, and Whalesong provided us a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. The owners are very nice, and the place is immaculate. As some have described, it is like staying in a tree house--a very comfortable one. I would not hesitate to recommend it to someone going to the Juneau area.

The cottage was just as appears in listing. It has good parking and is very private being located in the temperate rain forest surrounding Juneau. Owner has thought of almost everything one would need or want when traveling. Only item we could have used was packing tape. We left far too early to ask if any was available. Probably need a vehicle as it is about 8 miles outside city. Neither is a major item. We would definitely stay here again and definitely recommend it to other travelers.

The cottage was private, very comfortable, well appointed, and clean. Had everthing we needed. We enjoyed the location just out of town. The back porch was a perfect spot for our morning coffee. The bed was very comfortable. Also has a nice bathroom. Rick and Julie are great hosts! Was a perfect spot for our week in Juneau. Hope to come back some day.

Beautiful, spotless, with well stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, friendly host. The only detractor is that I would say that it is a little more than a short walk to the beach; it's about 1/2 mile. I would definitely stay here again, though.

The perfect retreat and the Cottage fully equipped and in a great neighborhood. Remote yet close to all amenities. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay!

Whale Song was an amazing place to stay and be able to explore the Juneau area. In the evenings, we could walk to the beach and watch whales, eagles and harbor seals. Close to hiking adventures and not too far from town. Julie and Rick were great hosts and have created a welcoming cabin. Would love to return someday!

This property is a great spot for getaway. Julie and her husband are great hosts. The cottage is cozy and well equipped for cooking. The bed is very comfy. The gas stove for heating (not cooking) warns the cottage very well to the point the upstairs gets a bit warm. There are not a great assortment of places to eat nearby but a well stocked grocery store is 10 min away. Great hiking in the area. Take the main road north until it ends for hikes and sightseeing. We loved our time in Juneau and at the Whale Song Cottage. Its located 35 mins from the city center and that suited us fine. The back patio had a great forest view (saw a bear!). There is a rocky beach nearby that we walked to. The cottage itself is well furnished with all the comforts, as listed. The high ceiling and windows lets a lot of natural light through and the bedroom loft was comfy. It's perfect for two and perfectly fine with three. Julie and her husband were great hosts. Overall, we loved the place and would love to return.

Enchanting cottage in secluded, beautiful setting. Surrounded by blueberry bushes in the front and forest in the back. The cottage is well appointed with beautiful artwork on the walls, luxurious linens/towels and quality dishware in the kitchen. 15 mins to downtown Juneau and yet, feels like a world away. Julie and Rick are charming hosts. 5-stars, all around!!!

Me and my sister-in-law dropped into Juneau for the weekend to celebrate my daughter's 21 birthday. The property is perfectly located, not too close to town, not too far. It was clean, quite, and perfect for our needs! Julie was very responsive and very easy to work with. I would stay here again!

This spectacular gem in the forest was the perfect sanctuary for our stay. Everything you could want is there. Cozy, private and yet perfectly located to the harbor for whale watching, the forests for hikes, lovely local brewery. Close to the glacier and the water for amazing sunsets. The hosts were wonderful. This is a special place and we will return. Thank you

If this property is available, do not hesitate to book it. Julie and Rick are some of the nicest and most accommodating people we've ever met. The cabin is 100% as advertised and the perfect getaway right on the edge of town. Whenever we go back, we'll target Whale Song for our accommodations w/o hesitation. Clean, functional, quiet, serene, etc. Can't wait to go back!

If this property is available, book it now! Julie is beyond a super host and the cottage is a dream! We had major changes in our travel plans and Julie graciously picked us up close to midnight from the ferry terminal. The cottage is actually better than the pictures. Extremely clean and comfortable; has everything you could need; and it is surrounded by blueberry bushes...just step right out and pick from the patio! We loved our stay here and we were close enough to all of Juneau's main attractions.

Perfect!
The cottage was absolutely perfect! It had everything we needed to be comfortable and then some. The back porch surrounded by forest was so peaceful, and just down the road we found our favorite spot we were told is named Heart Rock Beach where the views and wildlife were spectacular. The location was great, and Julie and Rick were great hosts. Their cottage is well cared for and all of the little extras made for a great stay. We would definitely recommend this property and we’ll definitely be back!!

We enjoyed the distance from the cruise crowd while having access to all that Juneau has to offer. Starting each morning with coffee surrounded by nature was priceless. A rental car is the ideal mode of transportation. Julie and Rick were the kindest hosts! They were available for all of our questions/needs yet gave us plenty of privacy and space! We would recommend this rental without hesitation! If we have an opportunity to return to Juneau we would book Whale Song Cottage first thing!
