I liked that it was a quiet area.

I have had a not very pleasant stay at this property, due to poor hygiene conditions the room and facilities were in. The carpet on the floor was dirty, it looked like it had not been vacuumed before our arrival. The pillow cases had blood stains on them, the bedding had more stains, not sure what those were, and the towels were also stained. We informed the host about this, she came in, without even asking if we are ok with her entering, seemed very bothered that we had the nerve to ask for clean sheets, looked at them, said that they are not blood stains and left (she did offer a different room, but it was very late already to move all of our items). She left our room, we closed the door and some minutes later saw the door moving, but heard no knock. We opened the door to see if maybe she had returned with fresh bedding and towels, to find two pillows left on the floor. She came to the door when we called, picked up the pillow from the floor, dusted it and handed it to us, as if it was a normal thing to do. She also came back with 1 towel, stained again, which we chose not to use. She collected 2 of the stained pillow and then left. If we weren't 3 hours away from home, or if there were other places to go to at that time of night, we would have left immediately. I don't think this is right, especially with the location having a 5 rating for hygiene on TripAdvisor. This needs to be verified...fellow travelers, be aware.

The loft space was tricky to negotiate, you had to be wary of the sloping walls when getting of bed or making tea on the table by the bed, it looked lovely but hitting your head is an issue. the bath with a shower needs a shower screen , i had to mop up water spraying out of the shower onto the floor with the towel .

Location is great. Wide avenue of large houses, where Bedford's gentry would have lived. A 5 minute walk to High Street one way and a large park the other. Good pub right across the road. The bed was very comfy.

Room could do with redecorating.

Large bed and spacious bathroom with good, roomy shower. Warm. Plenty of hot water.

The owner was delightful, amenable & extremely helpful. We were staying to attend a funeral if a close family member. our hostess couldn’t have been more kind. Unreservedly recommended with huge thanks.

Mm…. wracking my brains to think of something - small bedside tables would’ve been good.

Minor maintenance faults - shower head slide fitting broken, curtain hooks broken. No bedside lights.
