Location great and staff lovely

Very unreliable internet. No English-language TV channels (even News 24 BBC had Japanese over-voice). Bathroom lock got me locked in. Bad smell from shower drain.

The room was too small for two people.

Close to the station It was convenient location.

The beds and pillows were a bit uncomfortable.

It was very near to station and there were bus stops just 100-200 m away. Very good location. Facilities were good too.

Bathtub was a bit inconvenient .

I found the place quite near to Yamagata St. The room it self is nice for the price.

Too bad the breakfast ran out way too fast.

There is breakfast provided, just bread and coffee but enough to start eh day energized. Near the station enough to walk. Can leave baggage even before checkin

In the shower area, there is a big gap that water can pass through. The bathroom floor will be soaked if not careful There is no outlet near th beds

Cheap place to stay not far from the station

lobby and elevator smell oddly of chlorine? the rooms are very small, cold and dark. breakfast is just single pieces of bread wrapped in plastic.

The bathroom was huge! And the staff was very helpful and spoke English.

Free bread and coffee for breakfast. The bed is super comfy. A bit too soft.

An old hotel. The door is difficult to open. Bathroom setting is inconvenient. Bidet toilet doesn’t work properly.

good central location (very near to the castle, "water town district" & the station) a lot of useful maps & information on the area in the lobby, plus staff always ready to help good working space in the room (if needed) more for summer, but, nice touch of having a balcony coffee and the free breakfast service was rather useful (especially given the lack of cafes open during the Pandemic)

hard to find some of the light switches (they did try to mark them, but a weird original design) a hard mattress/bed for my taste... also the noise insulation was somewhat lacking the window at the end of the corridor is invisible from the bedroom, thus I could not really appreciate the view from the room

The room was surprisingly big compared to other APA hotels I have stayed in, and the bathroom, massive and not cramped unlike in other APA hotels. The hotel is just around 5-8 minute walk from JR Yamagata station and along can be found many restaurants and convenient stores. It is a perfect place to stay for day trips to several key spots in Yamagata. A few of the staff can speak English and are very attentive and accommodating, and quite surprisingly, wearing a smile. Stayed here for 10 days and found its perfect location to rest after many day trips in and around the Yamagata area. Sendai is just about 45 minutes away via JR local train. The hotel also offers a free simple breakfast of breads, tea and coffee. Another thing is that the place is immaculately clean and always smells refreshingly great. If you are interested in seeing Zao, Yamadera, Ginsan Onsen, Yamagata is the go-to place and APA Yamagata Ekimae Odori is a perfect place to stay.
