Good place

The hotel Gayana is in a great location with really good sea view rooms looking directly onto the beach. The quality of the rooms is really high with tiled floors, good bathroom, shower and quality apartment furniture. We stayed in the family room for the extra space and bath. lots of convenient electrical sockets and a good ac.

We stayed over Sri Lankan new year and no breakfast was offered as an option. This hotel is in a brilliant location right next to the beach. So much more could be made of the outdoor area overlooking the beach. instead there is as scrappy wire broken fence which does nothing for security and spoils what could be a great area for loungers and tables , parasols and seats. The seats tables and loungers that were there were either filthy or falling to pieces or both. Clearly Covid has had an impact but we stayed here for one night pre COVID and hoped things might have improved since . I suggest the owners look at how two other nearby hotels - the fragipani and the golden pearl present their similar beach front which are well used by guests and non guests. We spent most of our lunchtime and evenings at the fragipani, business lost to the Gayana which has much better rooms and location than the Fragipani or Pearl. Demolish the ugly tin roofed ‘eating area’ that is seemingly never open and spoils the view of the lovely beach and sea from the rooms, tidy up the outside seating areas and install loungers and seating for guests to take in the magnificent view and I for one would happily pay double the price!

The sea view from our room was stupendous. The waves crashing in just below our 1st floor balcony were hypnotic. Air con, a very good sized room, comfortable and clean, beautiful view and perfect location on the beach front road with a shop opposite (owned by the hotel) and town a 10 minute walk away. And all that for €23 a night - amazing.

This was the best deal in a 24 day stay - no complaints.
