This is a wonderful flat within close proximity of the main town. It's just far enough to be quiet and close enough to be near everything. The flat is well laid out and had everything there that you would need. It's well heated (we stayed in February) and the parking space is a bonus although the local roads had spaces. The flat is up a steep hill so if you struggle with that then this isn't the place for you but for a normally able person is not an issue. The views from the main rooms are stunning, you can see the beach from the bedroom and the lounge has a view across the bay. The flat is tastefully decorated with interesting artworks throughout. Bathroom has a full size bath and a shower over with good quality towels. Bed is huge and again has good quality bed linen fitted. Flat was beautifully clean; thoroughly recommended.

This is a spacious, warm and comfortable place to stay. Just a short walk from the town centre. Swanage is a perfect base for those who enjoy walking and bird-watching.

Light bright roomy apartment very comfortable some nice artwork and personal touches very comfortable. Near to the amenities of Swanage easy walk if your reasonably fit. Being high on a hill has its benefits marvellous views from the large windows.

Another fabulous week in Swanage staying at Barnacles. It was great to return and Charlotte went out of her way to make us really welcome. We'll be booking again in 2024 for our 'Dorset week'.

Really nice spacious flat. Close to town centre and beach. Up a short but steep hill, but overall thoroughly enjoyed staying there and would re-book in future. Host really pleasant to deal with.

We stayed in Swanage for 5 days. The apartment's location is perfect. It is very spacious with wonderful views of the beach & sea. Very clean & homely. We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed here in 2015 so knew what to expect. Very spacious and well laid out with everything you may need to enjoy the holiday.Comfortable lounge and lovely large bed. Cannot be faulted.

Barnacles proved to be a perfect bolthole for a few days by the seaside. A great location, walking distance of the town and the SW coastal path. The coastline is stunning and Swanage retains its period charm. The Swanage Railway is well worth the ticket price. We found the accommodation to be clean, bright and homely. We would happily return.

The whole stay was delightful with the host especially helpful prior to arrival.

As we had expected from the reviews and correspondence with Charlotte, the flat was bright, airy and spacious, and very clean. Lovely views over the bay, and the walk up was no problem at a steady pace. We had a good meal out at the popular and friendly Black Swan. This was an ideal location for a relaxing long weekend break.

One of the few places I have ever returned to.....and it felt even more homely this time. Super clean and comfortable. Perfect place to rest, walk and see the sea. And the hills make you feel that you deserve the fish and chips!

Stayed at Barnacles for a relaxing weekend, the apartment was everything we could have hoped for and more. Set in an area that allowed easy walking access to Durlston Country Park, as well as the sea front and a short drive to Corfe Castle. Great fish and chips from the bottom of the hill. The weekend was a chance for my partner to reminisce about places visited as a child with her father, I could see the happiness it brought to her, as the memories came flooding back. All topped off with the comfort of Barnacles at the end of the day. A beautiful apartment, in a lovely area, we will definitely be back.

A roomy apartment above the town will views through the houses to the beach and Old Harry's Rocks. Very comfortable sitting room and spacious bedroom. Very large and comfortable bed so a very restful few nights. Tastefully decorated and all that you'd need for a stay. A stiff climb from the town, tho, after a day's walking but the views make it worth it.

Everything about our stay was excellent. Charlotte was incredibly responsive and helpful with her communications beforehand, and was very flexible when we realised we needed to shift our booking by a day. The property itself was very comfortable and clean, well equipped, and spacious - it feels like somewhere that is really cared about, from the decoration to the range of books (including wildlife and Dorset history) to the contents of the kitchen. It is up a steep hill; this wasn't a problem for us as we spent a lot of the time walking the coastal path so this just meant that we were already half-way up if we wanted to head out towards Durlston Castle! It also means that there are some amazing views. We had a fantastic time - and while the weather was unseasonably good while we were there, we wouldn't have been sorry if it had been worse and we'd spent more time in the property!

We loved our weekend stay, its only a short walk to the beach, there's a designated parking space and the apartment is very well equipped, homely and very spacious. I would say its nicer than the pictures. We'd definitely stay there again.

From start to finish, our 4 night break was made super easy, as the owner is great at communicating via VRBO. The property was very clean, well equipped and very spacious. A fantastic sea view greeted us from the lounge and bedroom windows, both rooms were very comfortable. We also liked the artwork and pieces of art, which added to personality of the property. Would highly recommend The Ship pub in Swanage, we had a lovely meal and also went for drinks on another occasion. Fish and Chips at The Fish Plaice were also excellent. Swanage has a good selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. We would recommend the South West Coastal Path walks to Old Harry Rocks, Studland Bay, and in the other direction, Durlston Country Park, Peveril Point. Absolutely stunning scenery. Corfe Castle is worth a visit also. We were very lucky with the November weather, 16 degrees each day! The property is at the top of a very steep road, from Swanage town centre, but we managed this fine. Having a parking space at the property was also an added bonus. We loved every minute, and hope to return!

First thing to say is the photo's on here of the property do not do it justice - the flat is gorgeous, and spacious, and I have utterly fallen in love with it. I needed a place to unwind, get away from distractions, and do some writing. This flat could not have been more perfect. Loads of space to relax in, sofas VERY comfy, and the area is very quiet. The place is very well equipped. There are also various spots around the flat to work in, equipped with tables and inspiring views. Only thing to consider is it's a steep - steeeeep - walk up from the town. There are alternative routes, but if you're unfit or have a health condition that's something to bear in mind. Taxis exist, and you can park easily at the flat. Overall, I have loved my stay. I wish I'd booked longer, and I look forward to returning - and I hope to do so several times. The host is super-friendly and helpful, and things could not have gone more smoothly in all regards. Highly - very highly - recommended.

Lovely quiet spacious flat with great views over Swanage and very central.

This was our third visit. We just love coming back to Barnacles, and the 380 mile journey to get there is a small price to pay for what awaits us. On each visit, we have found the spacious and characterful accommodation absolutely pristine., with lovely views from the large dual aspect windows in the bedroom and sitting room. Purbeck is a very favourite area, especially the coastal walking, and once again the weather was kind to us. There are some interesting books about Purbeck, which will be of particular interest to history lovers

Large spacious flat. Well equipped, spotless with 1 parking space. Couldn't fault it. Swanage is hilly and this is at the top of a steep hill, so will need to be considered if there are issues with mobility

Very straightforward procedure. Only thing that would make it easier would be use if a key safe to avoid posting key. ( kitchen bin hadn’t been emptied - my only fault!)

We loved our week at 'Barnacles' in beautiful Swanage and the stunning Jurassic Coast. Charlotte made our arrival really easy with lots of helpful hints and 'Barnacles' is just perfect for a couple looking for a 'home from home'. Everything is exactly as described and a quick scroll through the reviews will show that we're not alone in just loving this place.
