The family are wonderful! The food is delicious. The room was great value for money and great position to visit Lion Rock.

Would advise to book tuktuk via PickMe or Uber as the local drivers overcharge.

De ligging van de huisjes is erg mooi. Rustige plek. Lekker eten en vriendelijk personeel.

De badkamer was erg vies. Echt smerige doucheslang en zeepbakje. Overal gele aanslag en het leek in geen tijden schoongemaakt. Tussen de dakschotten zitten vleermuizen, die je ‘s nachts goed hoort klapperen. Hun ontlasting komt door het plafond naar binnen.

This is by far the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. We were initially staying somewhere else in Sigiriya but it was very dirty and did not feel safe at all. At some point, we decided to change our place since we couldn’t sleep because of the damp. We booked one night in Liyon Rest. Lakmal came and picked us up with his car in the middle of the night. Then we found ourselves in this paradise. Ended up staying 3 nights instead 😀 Everything was perfect. The house was clean and the garden is so peaceful. We had everything we needed. Most importantly the family was very nice. You can experience the Sri Lankan hospitality every second during your stay. The food was also super delicious. No need to look for a restaurant for dinner especially since Sigiriya is a bit touristy and overpriced.

this place was incredible! perfect location close to sigiri and pidurangala rock, great comfortable and very clean room. Lakmar the host and his family did above and beyond to give us the best stay and helped us with every small thing. there was a small leak in our toilet, and they took care of it right away. Highly reccomend!

Absolute recommendation! - our stay at Lyion Rest was great. The rooms are very good and you get exactly what you booked. It is very clean and the host's family is very friendly and helpful. The mother of the host cooks daily local dishes, which I can recommend to you. We had great and long conversations with the hosts, which completes the whole stay in Sigiriya. Come here and enjoy life :)

Really beautiful accommodation in a lovely quiet setting. We were surrounded by nature and it was super relaxing. The rooms are spotlessly clean with really comfy beds. We had a lovely dinner on one night too and it was delicious. The owners are really friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this for an enjoyable stay in Sigiriya.

The owners are incredibly nice. You are welcomed with tea and a smile. They help you with your activities and make you feel at home. Anything you need they will make sure you get it. They give you a warm family feeling. On our last day they asked us to join in the celebrations of moonday. After that the owner drove my friends for two hours to their new destination and even after that drive hè drove me with his family for more then 5hours to the airport

What a wonderful place to spend a few nights in Sigiriya! Liyon Rest is a cozy little, family-run B&B, a bit set back from the main road. It's surrounded by a beautiful garden with flowers, fruits, birds and adorable chipmunks. Lakmal and his family were super welcoming and helped us in every possible way, be it with short-term lunch, shuttle service or safari booking. Totally recommended.

Close to Sigiriya and Pidurangala, available parking space within the property. Nice hidden spot, where you can enjoy pleasant surrounding. Very friendly owner.

We loved our stay! the little hut was super cute, clean, private, and with a great view into the garden. the breakfast and dinner was one of the best we had during our stay in Sri Lanka and we felt so welcomed there. we did a tour to the hurulu eco park nearby which our hosts organized for us and it was such a great experience, we saw so many elephants and had an amazing driver! if you are looking for a peaceful quite place with a very good welcoming familiar vibe, stay here!

This is a really nice family run business. You really feel welcomed and at home. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. We also had a nice balcony with a view to the garden and all the birds. Dinner was also arranged for us, which was delicious, as well as the breakfast. Great value for money!

Liyon Rest is an amazing place to experience Sri Lankan hospitality. Lakmal and his family are great hosts. Lakmal helped us planned our visits. The homemade Sri Lankan meals were perfect. The room was clean and spacious. The garden is very relaxing.

Great location with cosy cottages in a beautiful garden, close to the lake. The owner and his family were very friendly and helpfull. Even helped me to get the best internet and table and chair for my jobinterview. Delicious breakfast and diner. Was there for 2 nights and got 2 different breakfasts and diners, so I could tast a lot! Can go with you on the rock and arrange activities and transfers.

There was not so much waterpressure in the shower.

I cannot recommend this place enough! Lakmal and his family were so kind and hospitable. They gave us recommendations of things to do and see in the area and were so thoughtful. When it was raining, they brought an umbrella to our door so we wouldn't have to walk to breakfast in the rain, and then dried off the seat on our scooter. We ended up staying 3 nights instead of 1. The villas are clean and beds are comfortable; this was the best place we stayed at for this price point by far. I also accidentally took their villa key back to Kandy and Lakmal was willing to meet up in Kandy so we didn't have to drive back. Also the breakfasts were delicious! They were different local dishes every morning and but they also were willing to bring omelettes as well upon request.

The wifi wasn't especially strong, but considering the property is large and the cell service was generally spotty in the surrounding area, it was to be expected and beyond control of the property.

The family is so careful and very helpful. The food is amazing, everything is homemade and some ingredients are even grew there. The little bungalows are in the garden and all you can hear are the birds around, we had a good rest.

The room was further equipped with a water cooker, tea and so on, like in a hotel. The host and his family were really considerate to make the stay an exceptional experience. We also enjoyed the beautiful garden.

Nothing to complain about.

I stayed at Lion Rest for 4 nights in the bungalows - deluxe room. The rooms look like in the photos, equipped with mosquito nets, with air conditioning and fan, kettle, tea and sugar. They are positioned in a real garden, in the jungle - a little heaven. But the most important thing is the atmosphere created by Lakmal and his beautiful family. Available at any request, pick up from the train station, organization of trips to Pidurangala for sunrise, organization of safaris in Huru National Park, excursion on Lyon Rock, participation of Buddhist procession at Dambula Temple, visit Polurannuwa historical site. And all this at an extremely fair price. Exceptional breakfast and dinner, with traditional dishes prepared by "My Mama". We came as tourists and broke up as a family. Our bungalow was neat and comfy, and had everything we needed. The bungalow is very close to the nature and you may see peacocks in the garden and lots of chipmunks (if they get onto the roof it gets sometimes a little loud at night but if you know it’s just a sweet chipmunk you can turn around and sleep well again). You can walk to the Lions rock or Pidurangala but we would recommend you take a tuk tuk. Around the home stay are no more restaurants or similar as due to Covid, etc. lots of them had to close. There are some little shops if you go left on the main street for like 200 m where you can get water and some snacks. However Lakmal, the owner, and his family are such lovely people and if you ask them they will prepare a fantastic dinner for you. The Dhal was the best we had so far :-). Lakmal also picked us up from the airport in the middle of the night for a fair price, drove us to Pidurangala for sunrise, arranged a wonderful safari at Hurulu Eco Park (lots of elephants!) and finally brought us to Kandy. We would definitely come back to this lovely place. Best regards to you and your family :-)
