This guesthouse was fantastic. The best place we've stayed in Ecuador so far. The room was ridiculously large, with three double beds, a sitting area, and a good bathroom with a nice hot shower. The shared kitchen had everything you need, there are a couple of common sitting areas, plus a rooftop with a small but lovely sitting area. View of the volcano from the roof. There is also a clothes washing machine available. Alberto was a great host and had tons of information about the area. Fantastic value.

Charming hotel, welcoming and informative host, centrally located, hot showers, communal kitchen, comfortable beds, spacious rooms. Alberto is an excellent host and gave us tips and advice on the local places to visit, transportation, etc. When we needed extra blankets, a minor repair in the room, he took care of it immediately.

It was one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in at least 40 places. The location was great. The place was decorated and constructed super cute. The bedroom was huge with 3 comfortable beds and a private bath. The kitchen was to be shared with the other two rooms but no one else used it but us. Even had a little courtyard garden with roses blooming outside our bedroom. The host was very nice, spoke English, and very helpful.

Could have used more silverware.

The hostel was very cozy and clean. The kitchen was equipped with everything you might need. The location is surrounded by little shops and restaurants and the poncho marked is just around the corner. The owner is extremely welcoming and helpful with any questions you might have for hiking trips or any other activities in the area.

This was the best guesthouse I’ve ever stayed at! The location is right in the city center, it’s clean, the architecture is STUNNING, and Alberto the owner was so kind and welcoming. There was a good shower with hot water, and all the other amenities we could wish for. I’d visit again in a heartbeat!

Giant room, nice man upon arriving (although for most of the time there is no one there, its more like an airbnb). Good location.

Comfortable beds, very big room! The room have 2 double beds, and another wide single bed! In addition, a private shower with hot water, a double sofa, 2 tables and a closet.

The hot side of the hot water in the shower is to the right, we managed to get confused 🙃

in the center of town. not a lot of street noise. nice ambiance. nice fire place, (although there was a lot of smoke coming in the room, because of the wet wood).

no sound insulation between central room and bedrooms (luckily it was not busy).

- incredible huge space! The pictures really don't do it justice, we were very happily surprised with the space when we arrived -- I immediately recommended they take and post new pictures because the current ones don't reflect how great the place is. - Alberto gave us such a warm, kind welcome and gave us great recommendations for Otavalo as well, and was very responsive to anything we needed - location was great because it was close enough to walk to everything, but not so close that the noise made it uncomfortable - we had a really nice stay there, would definitely recommend it!

Kitchen and implements could have been cleaner, but I blame the previous guests more than the hotel because I think the hotel counts on the guests to clean what they used. But some of the pans and things should be replaced because they're beyond the point of usable. But it's a relatively small detail that shouldn't discourage anyone from staying there.

Great location - in the heart of the action but quiet for sleeping. Easy to get to the market and the bus terminal.

The Aylluwasi is a lovely refuge from the bustle of Otavalo. Our room was huge, clean, nicely decorated with old photographs and quiet. Alberto, the owner, is a wonderful and thoughtful person who enjoys gardening by the number of potted plants in the common areas and rooms. We recommend La Cosecha restaurant nearby, great food, locale and service.

I had everything I needed except for warm water for my shower.

I loved that this place was very close to the central plaza. It was also close to the bus terminal. The owner was very friendly and helpful and accommodated my extra request. The wifi was also very fast and didn't cut out.

Honestly, I really liked this place. The only little thing is the neighbor in the adjacent building was a bit loud in the morning, which woke me up. But, if you're a deep sleeper, that shouldn't be a problem.

Location is perfect. Near to the plaza de poncho and the bus station, but still quiet. The room is HUGE and the bed very comfortable. The owner very kind and helpful with perfect English. Can't ask for a better stay.

The shower is not as scalding hot as I like, but it should be perfectly fine for normal people.

Keys didn’t work well for me in the front entrance.

Previous reviews about the hot/cold water seem to be resolved, so now the place is perfect. We had wonderful hot showers. Huge rooms, private baths, comfy beds, plenty of warm and fresh blankets, cozy sitting area with fireplace, nice kitchen with stove and refrigerator. Every area was spotlessly clean. Only two rooms, so very private. Rooms do not face the street, so they are very quiet. Host has a shop right across the street, so he is available all the time. He speaks perfect English and even set up our transportation to the Mojando hike. If this place is available, BOOK IT!

Let us use the washer and dryer, which was very needed and appreciated. Big room! The place has a lovely character

An adorable guest house with a huge room/bath plus shared kitchen/living/dining space. The owner was waiting for us in the street in front of the house when we arrived, and showed us directly to the room. It was an all around good experience.
