The view

Spacious with a nice location on the lake with a bus stop down the road to and from from Gmund if you arrive by train. The bathrooms were great as were the facilities especially the restaurant on the terrace which served nice food. We ate there both nights of our stay. There was also a good breakfast and good service from the staff. My single room had a nice balcony and view. Thank you for a happy stay.

Parts of the rooms look a little dated if you worry about that sort of thing. There was no air con in my room and it was pretty hot while we were there but I slept with the balcony door open all night and it was fine.

Location was excellent right on the lake. The room was nicely renovated with "light Bavarian" furnishings and the entire hotel very clean. They offered a good selection for breakfast until 11am. Nice size indoor pool and quite a few saunas and steam room. Bikes were available for rental and the staff was quite helpful with our various requests.

The staff in the hotel and restaurant were competent, but not overly friendly - they should smile more often. The lobby and bar area need to be updated and a bit more welcoming. The garage was a bit of a mess and it was hard to find the way to walk out when it got dark. There were no extra towels in the wellness area as well as a bit of a drainage problem between the spa rooms (a lot of water in the middle of the floor). Although we put a sign out for clean towels, the cleaning person only left us one bath towel and no fresh spa towels. When we checked in there was also only the end of a toilet paper roll in our bathroom. We then asked for these supplies and were given the things immediately, but in a hotel which charges in the highter price class you should arrive with a fully equiped room.

The location is unbeatable in Bad Wiessee. The housekeeping staff was very friendly as were some of the waiters in the restaurant. The food in the restaurant was very good, but the selections could be more often changing. Requests for vegetarian food choices were addressed individually when we asked and with good choices.

Due to the Corona pandemic the staffing in the hotel is borderline low. Everyone seems to be on edge and overloaded with their work. Requests are managed poorly and unfriendly especially by the staff at the reception. You better not ask that things get fixed, because they might not and an inquiry is met with eye rolling and unfriendly answers. Swearing in front of hotel guests is not appreciated, even when done sort of to “oneself” or by addressing other staff (such behavior should not be tolerated). I spent a week at the hotel and spent quite some money on lodging, food and beverages, since the weather was bad, and we did not go to other restaurants. I wished the staff would have been friendlier and had listened to my (one) request and fixed the situation. I had recommended this hotel to friends and family members to meet there. I would like to return another year (Corona permitting) and hope the mood of the staff and interaction with hotel guests can and will improve.
