Modern? Maybe 30 years ago, but it serves it's purpose. Location is great! 5/10min walk to the train station. 3min walk to the seaside where there is a bus stop that takes you to nearby towns. 3min walk to main square with shops and restaurants.

We chose this for the air conditioning which made a loud and annoying sound everytime it switched on. The bed was comfortable but unfortunately the noise made for an unpleasant night sleep.

wonderful location in the old town in the center of life!

my mistake - I asked for balcony facing the Piazza. Noisy. but so much fun! even to look at work of garbage guys at 5.30 am.

A large, clean and quiet room, all facilities work properly. The location is excellent: right in the center of the city. The staff is very friendly, the breakfast is good and it is included in the room's price.

The electrical kettle for making tea would be helpful.

Classic family-run 3-star hotel with restaurant. Don't let the slightly out-of-date decor fool you; this hotel is in an excellent location, is run by friendly, professional, helpful people, has spotlessly clean rooms (with air conditioning), and an awesome free breakfast. Dinner is also available, we ate here two of three nights and had excellent service and food. In fact, the raviolini with butter and marjoram was one of my favorite meals over ten days. When my mom wasn't feeling well, the waitstaff went out of their way to get her something her traitorous stomach could handle. Ask for any room ending in 15 for great views over the piazza; noise was not a problem, as once your balcony door is closed, the room is peaceful and calm.

We were so well looked after at hotel moderno. The location is amazing, right in the middle of stresa, the staff were so friendly and hardworking. Everyone spoke English and was very patient when I tried to speak Italian! The room was cleaned and bed changed everyday. Our balcony overlooked the main square of stresa and was well worth the extra money as it was a beautiful view and so nice to sit out and relax on. Breakfast was good with a nice variety of food every morning, we ate at the restaurant in the evening as well which was very nice. The hotel really exceeded our expectations.

The WiFi in our room was a bit patchy and sometimes cut out so we had to go to the main hotel lobby to get a better connection.

Great location just 1 street back from main waterfront, which meant no noise from traffic. Our room overlooked the town Piazza, which was nice. Staff were courteous and efficient. Location in town was ideal.

Very nice, traditional hotel in an excellent location in Stresa. Great service, beautiful, spacious room with balcony facing a small square with restaurants.

A few vegetables at breakfast would have made it perfect.

Room basic and needs painting. Bed hard, pillows very uncomfortable. Bathroom very basic, old fashioned and small. Bathroom door bangs into the toilet. Poor offering of toiletries. Breakfast offering was limited. Not a lot of choice. No bacon, sausage or scrambled eggs.

Restaurant personnel was almost unpleasant at our first evening, when we stopped for late evening drink, and they did not know we lived there. Beds were quite old and poor and breakfast worse than in pictures.
