I absolutely love the ACK Guest House. The staff in every department there are wonderful, and they made it feel like a home away from home. Each day when I returned, often from a long day of work, they always welcomed me in such a way that I felt that I was coming home to friends. They were also thoroughly professional and provided excellent service. On several occasions, staff went above and beyond to help me with difficulties that I had, even when those difficulties were unrelated to the guest house itself. They want to ensure that their guests have a safe and happy and pleasant stay, not just at the ACK but also in Kenya. So even if you do find that you are unhappy with anything there, just talk to the staff. They are super kind and helpful. The guest house itself is comfortable and nice. IT's not the Ritz, but nor are you paying for the Ritz! Comfortable, safe, pleasant, and good value. One minor challenge was that there are not a whole lot of restaurants within easy walking distance (though there is one - a grill just a couple of minutes walk but I don't know about its food and prices because I never ate there), but I enjoyed the ACK in-house restaurant so much that I was more than happy to dine-in. That said, heaps of restaurants etc. are only a short, cheap uber (or a reaaaallllly cheap moto-taxi) away (when the traffic is clear). Getting anywhere when the traffic is bad can take a long time, but that's Nairobi. The area around the hotel is safe and quiet, but talk to reception before you decide to walk anywhere beyond the immediate surrounds, and they will help you to know where and when is safe for walking. The laundry service is also excellent. I really miss the ACK guest house, and really look forward to hopefully returning.
